Aquata Bathroom Renovations

This review is long overdue, but even a year later, we are still so pleased with our bathroom renovation and we still receive compliments on the impeccable work. Peter and his team were extremely professional from start to finish. Peter came in for a consult and provided us with fabulous design ideas as well as realistic expectations for the project. When the project started, the work did not disrupt to the rest of the house. They took time to prep the space and surrounding area, and cleaned up before they left each day. When things came up, as they always do when renovating old houses, Peter provided us with various options before moving forward with the work. Peters expertise, attention to detail, and continuous communication made us feel confident in thr work and that we made the right decision by choosing Aquata. We would absolutely use him again and highly recommend if you are looking to renovate your bathroom!

Peter completed a bathroom renovation for us a few weeks ago, working with us every step of the way. He was very attentive in listening to what we were looking for, while at the same time adding to our initial vision by consistently making great suggestions that really elevated the project. I hired Aquata to replace my old, basic toilet with a new bidet toilet. The job involved some complicated factors, including installing a new breaker and figuring out the best way to install a new line from my basement to the second floor. I am impressed with how Peter solved the problems that the structure of my house presented so that the installation went very smoothly. He did a great job! When he finished the exterior part of the job, Peter asked us to have a look and make sure that we were satisfied, and was more than happy to answer any questions that we had.

Peter and his assistant were very clean and careful by covering the workspace and putting protective barriers down. They even took care of disposing any garbage, and the old toilet so that I didnt have to deal with it. They were professionals in every sense.

As well as the toilet, I also needed to replace my bathroom door, or thought I did, until Peter helped me save money by fixing the old door. It looks as good as new, and I would have never guessed it was the same door. I am grateful that he had my best interests in mind and thought of how to help me save money.

Throughout the job, Peter was easy going and explained everything to me with patience and care. Without hesitation, I would encourage anyone to hire Aquata. They are simply the best!

We called Peter about a very slow leak that had started from a corner of our bathtub that he had renovated four-and-a-half years ago. (It's from a top corner of the bathtub near where the shower stall glass is mounted) The leak had actually appeared a couple of years ago and Peter had come back to try to find the source and fix it. But it was a mystery as to where it was coming from. He repaired the minor damage to the wall next to the tub and it took another year or so for evidence of the leak to reappear. He came again to have a look and did a minor repair to a piece of plumbing that he suspected might be the issue but left the damaged part of the wall unrepaired so that we could see if the leak was still happening. We thought we still saw signs of the leak so he came back again with all of his tools and his assistant, ready to do whatever needed to be done to fix the leak. He took apart as much of the fixtures as he could without damaging the shower stall tiles (although he was willing to remove any if it was necessary -- we had enough leftover tiles and grout to fix them). Multiple tests were run and it seemed that the leak had actually stopped! He had been able to gain access to all the pipes to investigate and no sign of a leak was evident nor was there any sign of damage (not even any staining) behind the shower wall or around its plumbing. So either the mystery leak stopped or he had been able to fix it on his previous visit after all. The point of this long post is to say that even nearly half-a-decade after his work here was complete, he was willing to come and fix part of it for us and didn't charge us a thing! And he was as friendly, thorough, communicative and diligent about it as he was when he did the initial job. He truly cares about his clients and the work that he does and doesn't just disappear once his work is done. He even said that if the mystery leak reappeared, he'd come back again and do whatever else it might take to find it and fix it. While we remain hopeful that it has in fact stopped, we have been very happy in all of our dealings with Peter and in the work that he has done for us. I would definitely recommend his company for a bathroom renovation.

Our bathroom fan stopped functioning shortly just before Christmas and we desperately needed to replace it since we were hosting the multiday family holiday festivities this year.

We ultimately found and hired Peter since he was the only one able to schedule us in the day before our guests were going to show up. Peter recommended a fan that is slightly larger and quieter fan compared to the original one.
Once he arrived, we quickly found out that that he's not like the other contractors you would typically hire. His tools are all meticulously organized, resulting him to be being able to set-up, change out the fan, and, clean up without ever leaving the work area.

I am extremely careful with whom I choose to hire, so I was very discerning when it came to selecting the best person for the job. After the very first conversation with Peter I knew that I had found a diamond, and little did I know at the time, once we began working with Peter our impression of him and Aquata would continually grow better: every one of my expectations was surpassed over and over again. Highly dependable, and with tremendous concentration, Peter devoted his time to our project solely. He arrived on time every day, and worked a full day, every day. The job stayed on schedule and was completed in an extremely timely manner. Peter and Nik continued to stay laser focussed on our job, and due to their stellar professionalism, did not talk on the phone, or take any time away from devoting themselves to the work that needed to be done on our project. They were also very trustworthy, so I felt relaxed and comfortable with them being alone in my home.

At all times Peter respected the original quote that we agreed upon, kept our budget in mind, and we understood that he appreciated how important the cost of our renovation was to us. We felt heard, and we really appreciated the options that Peter was happy to suggest, including patiently explaining the pros and cons etc. of each option.

Peters care and devotion made even the smallest detail as precise and lovely as possible! He showed us time after time that our renovation meant a lot to him. He always made sure to encourage our questions - and he was always eager to put us at ease.

Peters thoughtfulness has been something I have never seen before in a trades company. As an example, Peters distinguished professionalism is evident in his level of organization and preparedness. He devotes an entire day to setting up the workspace with the utmost care. He protected my walls, flooring and living spaces in many clever ways. In one case he constructed a temporary wall to contain his workspace, but made sure to protect my ceiling and walls with padding so that no damage was done and we could not tell that anything was ever there. Peter thoughtfully made sure to include a convenient door in the temporary wall so that we could easily access the rest of the room. He also set up his own air purifiers which worked wonders to help keep the air in our home clean.

True to Aquatas excellence, every day Nik would roll up my front door mat and set it aside, to protect it. He would then set out Aquatas mats and floor coverings all the way from the front door to the workspace. The floor mats were vacuumed and wiped down without fail daily, and they remained spotless throughout the day as well. Amazingly my home did not feel like a construction zone, which I couldnt believe! This care made the whole project much more pleasant and felt less intrusive. To wrap up each day, the floor coverings were re-cleaned, rolled up and stored out of the way, and then Nik went a step further by vacuuming and wiping down the floors underneath the floor coverings! I have never seen this much consideration for the homeowner and attention to detail, ever. All garbage was cleaned out and taken away, with the workspace, our home and garage kept spotless.

To continue, Aquatas professionalism and work ethic was immediately evident from the first day when Peter and Nik put together a highly organized cabinet which contained every item that they would be needing for the duration of the renovation. They made sure that they would never run out of a tool, and this minimized the need for them to pass through our home to get supplies from the truck, or to slow down the project. Everything imaginable was stored at hand and ready to go. You have to see this level of organization to understand how much thought and attention to detail goes into ensuring your project will run as efficiently and effectively as possible and once again, I have never seen this done before by any tradesperson I have hired.

Peter personalized the renovation of our bathroom to the tiniest and most thoughtful detail. For example, he made sure to understand why we wanted to include a diverter spout in our shower. When he found out that it was because our dog liked to drink the cold water from it, he measured our dogs height to make sure that the height of the diverter spout was perfect for our dog! To me, this was a gesture of the utmost consideration and care for our family. Of course, Peter also double-checked our own heights - and even the length of our arms - to make certain that the ergonomics of the bathroom design were personalized to us. A truly bespoke bathroom customization!

As is to be expected with any renovation, issues did come up, and the true telling of Aquata was also in how these issues were addressed. One such case was that our original flooring was not level at all. In order to correct this, Peter used a variety of different types of cement, carefully applying each in a different area in the floor. He could have tried to use less types of cement, however they would not have generated the same top quality results. This took Peter more time and effort, which he willingly devoted to the task, however unlike other contractors, he did not charge me extra for this. He stayed true to his original quote, and was fair throughout. Any minor detail, of which there were very few, was addressed with the fullest of Peters attention and effort.

I would like to close with a final observation about Peters honesty. As mentioned above, it took us a very long time to find Aquata. One reason is that I was looking for a contractor who demonstrated their trustworthiness from the first point of contact: on their website. An easy way to figure out the honest contractors is to check if the images they claim as their own work are truly their own. Aquata was one of the very rare companies that passed my reverse image lookup test.

For all of these reasons, and many more, we are so grateful to have found Aquata! Peter is that rare, outstanding craftsman whose quality speaks for itself. We feel so fortunate for the opportunity to work with him and look forward to working with Peter and Nik again in the future!

Earlier this year, we decided to renovate our 35 year old guest bathroom. Needless to say, it required a major overhaul. But we had been waiting to do something special when we decided it was time. We began the process of researching contractors and came across Peter and Aquata Bath. From the initial meeting, we found Peter to be attentive to our vision, accommodating as much as possible while giving necessary technical and construction feedback for ideas that required further thought. We knew we wanted to incorporate a curbless shower and his portfolio of work gave us the confidence that he was the right person for our job. We also wanted to ensure a contractor with the fine skills to install large format tiles, something that is as much an art and not easily accomplished.

For weeks, he and his assistant Nick worked with precision, attention to detail and always consulting us to ensure the work was proceeding as expected. And the cleanliness! Before any work started, the path from our front door to the work area was laid with protective mats, boards, and a thick plastic covering for the stairs. He even installed a fan in the window to minimize dust and create negative air pressure to ensure construction dust did not infiltrate to the rest of the house. At the end of each work day, floors were vacuumed and wiped down.

In the end, we were very pleased to receive our ensuite bathroom in our guest room that was as impressive as a great hotel experience. We saw Peter a few weeks later as he stopped by our house. He asked us how our bathroom was. We told him that in fact, we had not even used it yet. To be honest, we just enjoyed randomly walking into the bathroom a couple of times a day just to look at it. Peter was astonished. Funny as it sounds, it turned out so nice that we wanted to preserve the newness of it. Since then, we have used the bathroom and remark how it feels like we are on vacation at a hotel.

If youre planning to renovate, we would not hesitate to recommend Peter and Nick.

We have already lined up two more bathrooms for next year and are looking forward to randomly walking into them and marvelling at the work.

Throughout our 3-bathroom renovations, Peter was a fixture in our home. I trusted him (and his team) and I felt safe. We had daily check-ins to make sure that we were meeting milestones and that details were being followed accordingly. He helped us manage our expectations. He gave us our homework - tasks that we needed to complete for the follow day(S). When we hit bumps in the road (as all renos are bound to encounter), Peter was forthcoming about the issues, or his concerns. Then, we would jointly develop creative solutions that were often better than our original plans.

We have an old 50s bungalow that needs a lot of TLC. While we were waiting for some supplies to come in, Peter offered to work on other projects that were on the back burner, which was wonderful.

I am cerebral and Im constantly thinking about issues that may be encountered. When I brought these worries to Peter, he was not dismissive. He actively listened to me. More often than not, he had already anticipated the issues I was concerned over, and had plans to manage these challenges. But when we were managing some of the unplanned projects, he really listened to issues that were unsettling to me. He easily made the conceptual leaps with me, and then cleverly navigated ways through problems.

Peter is passionate and inventive. He has moments when he is in his head, quietly processing and planning things. There are times when he is a social butterfly; and then there are times when he is a bulldozer and just plows through tasks. I think these are all necessary characteristics in a great contractor.
