Duct Sealing

I went into the Fall Home Show looking for solutions to make my sunroom more efficient. Part of the issue was the airflow coming out of the 4 ducts in the room. The concept of sealing the ducts had crossed my mind, so Aeroseal GTA's booth caught our attention. This is where we met Joe.

From the initial chat I could tell that Joe was not a salesman - he knew everything about the product - from the installation to the physics involved, he was able to answer all of our many questions, and he was incredibly professional. Without much hesitation, we called Joe back a few days later and booked an appointment.

On the day of the appointment, Joe and Brad showed up on time with a smile and immediately got to it. I actually enjoyed having them in the house - they explained everything that was happening, and upon inspecting the duct work and our situation, they set reasonable expectations. Joe was able to assess everything from the position of the ducts to the condition of the furnace.

I felt no hesitation in having them go throughout the house to prepare each duct for the procedure. They were neat and courteous. They put protection down for all finished areas (I have a finished basement).

When the sealing started, we immediately saw one of our major problems: we had 700+ CFM of leakage. After a few minutes, the product began to speak for itself - we noticed a dramatic decline in the lost CFMs (their software tracks this in real time). Less than an hour later, they had reduced the leakage to 59 CFMs. All throughout the process, Joe and Brad were a pleasure to be around - they even helped out with some related tasks my basement contractor failed to finish, and the time just flew.

I immediately noticed the result in my better-performing ducts. The toilet paper test on their website is true!

As for the sunroom, two of the ducts showed major gains. For the other two, the airflow isn't where I'd like it to be, but it is an improvement over what it was before: practically non-existent.

I was *very* pleased with the overall result, and I truly believe we can feel the difference already!

The true test will be what happens in the middle of the winter, but I feel better knowing we did this - that was a 90%+ reduction in leakage, and well worth every penny.

Thank you Aeroseal GTA for all of your help!
