I was introduced to Robert by my deck builder. At the time I was already working with another structural designer, but that relationship quickly went south when he became insistent that my builder's construction approach would not meet code and I would therefore not get my permit. So I had to test that contention because my builder insisted that this guy was wrong. And that's where Robert came in. He did new drawings for me, incorporating mine and my builder's wishes, and ensured that more modern construction technology was used all while meeting code. As expected, the city's permit department agreed.

Looking back, when I compare the quality of work and the client service model of my previous guy's versus Robert's, I can honestly say the difference was night and day. I rarely spoke to the first guy and what he produced were a few sketches that now seemed slapped together, outdated, and had scant details.

Robert, on the other hand, is a consummate professional. I was amazed at the level of detail, thoroughness, and thought he put into his work. And he was such a pleasure to work with! It was quite clear to me that he took great pride in his work, which gave me huge comfort. When he puts the Valente stamp on his drawings, you can be assured that they are completed to the highest standards of excellence.

I know this is very high praise, and I don't give it lightly. Robert is truly deserving of it. I'm thankful to my deck builder for the introduction, and I'm very thankful to Robert for saving my project! Muchas gracias Roberto!!

I contacted Valente Studios about working on permit drawings for re-designing our porch and building an enclosed mudroom. From the moment I met with Robert, he was very interested in understanding what it was that we wanted to do and ensuring that we would have drawings that met those needs. It was a true pleasure to work with him on these drawings as he would offer his recommendations and also attend to our specific needs. We went through a couple of rounds of drawings, but it did not take long to get them ready for submitting to the city. The drawings themselves were incredibly detailed and included all of the necessary design specs for both the city's requirements and for a future builder to work from. Robert worked with us to find ways to save on costs when it came to the actual build, which included using existing footings rather than needing to include new ones. He also informed us that certain specifications would not be required for our project, such as HVAC which provided a cost savings. We also avoided the need to have an engineer stamp the drawings, as Robert personally did the weight load calculations and the city approved his work. Robert's knowledge of building requirements is extensive and this came in handy when needing to make certain decisions before submitting the application to the city. Overall Robert is a great communicator and is always willing to take a call to discuss the details, which I was grateful for. Robert delivered in a short period of time, approx. 3 weeks which helped move the project along. He managed the submission to the city and kept us posted on the status of the approval. I would definitely hire Robert again for future projects.
