Be careful of what they will cover

I had used this company going back to when they first started. My recent move went ok but the results after are terrible. I had 2 shelving units destroyed, over the toilet cabinet destroyed, my motorized sofa/recliner unit leather cut on arms and motors now don't work damage to a baseboard in the apartment. I put in a claim and now I am told well you were advised of the coverage(not) and now anything made of particle board is not covered nor are the motors on my sofa. Please tell me what isn't made out of particle board now a days. These units made it from Alberta back to Winnipeg and one other move in Winnipeg but not now. I would recommend that IF you are planning on using these guys you make sure you READ your coverage and make sure you are covered. Being a senior and not being able to pack like before I paid big money for stuff to be packed and moved. Now I am told to bad but you pay to replace my stuff. I would never use this company again and would not recommend them. Very disappointed of how they care about their customer after the fact. I have around $1000.00 in damage and I was offered $200.00. Thanks for nothing. I couldn't download the pictures.

Moving

The company didn't wrap items like it says in their contract. They caused $1000's of dollars worth of damage to our furniture. We tried emailing and contacting them. Barb has been very manipulative. She came to our home and took pictures and said that she will deal with the issues but when we tried contacting her and follow up she didn't answer. We called the company and they just keep telling us to deal with Aly who also does not answer and the last time I called them the woman hung up on me And the only way you can contact Aly is by email and we haven't heard from her. We sent pictures and proof. The woman in the office also hung up on me after she found out who I was. They also told our building manager who called them about damages to the building that we did not use them lol. WOW REALLY?

profoundly disappointed

I used this company because I was trying to support local and because a friend who is related to the owner, urged me to use the company and I thought why not....Unfortunately, I had some disturbing issues resulting from my move that I tried to resolve with the company - but after airing my concerns in a long, detailed letter - the customer service person went silent. Nothing was resolved. Here is a list of my grievances:

- quoted a fair price, but due to lack of planning on the mover's part, the price of the move increased significantly as the truck driver allegedly could not get into a very large receiving area. Moving company kept goods hostage until I agreed to pay an extra $1000.
- movers would not wear masks and the building management of the building into which I moved made a claim against me for hiring movers who would not comply with building and provincial covid rules.
- the mover did not leave me the weigh tickets and when I finally tracked them down two weeks after the move, the weight of my move was a thousand pounds more than the quote even though i decided to move far less furniture than I was originally quoted for. Sketchy calculations in that the mover took several hours between loading and weighing the load, and little explanation of the difference between quote and actual weight.
- movers moved a bag belonging to someone else into my home and proceeded to harass me verbally by text until they could get their bag back. I was out of province and was unable to accommodate them immediately. After the move, the company did nothing to apologize for, or make amends for, their employee's unprofessional and disturbing behaviour.

All in all, my belongings arrived to the destination safely - so if that is all you care about, this mover is fine. However, If you are looking for a fair price and a company who appears to care about your experience and strives to do better, this is not the company for you.

Company Response

Good evening Dawn,
Could you please let me know where you moved from and to. I do not have anyone by the name of Dawn on my list of moves done by Two Small Men With Big Hearts moving that would have been done by the long distance office. I would love to help clear this up, but I need to know who to speak to regarding your move.
You can contact me at twosmallmen@moving.ca
Thank you,
Barb

Poor treatment of a 69-year old grandmother! Avoid this company!

They were booked to move my mother on April 30 between 2pm and 6pm. They never showed, nor did they contact her, so she called them. It took them over two hours to call her back and rebook her for the next morning at 8:30am. Again, no show. She called again. The dispatch had no idea what she was referring to. They called back half an hour later to tell her that they were on their way. They offered her a discount. The quote was to bill 2-4 hours plus one hour of travel. They billed her for 7.5 hours and no reduction for the inconveniences caused. The head guy was verbally abusive to the two young boys he showed up with, so my mom was too scared to comment about the overbilling and just paid the invoice. The two boys also didn't have proper moving equipment, so they broke her antique oak TV cabinet and my digital thermostat. They have offered her $175 to fix her cabinet, but nothing else.

Not provided service for items to be properly transported as informed.

The woman on the phone and they movers when they came had both informed me out items woukd be properly wrapped, blanketed as needed and transported safely. This was not the case. We had a large mirror that I questioned moving ourselves. They told me they would blanket and plastic wrap it, move it carefully and buffer it with our mattress in the truck. They instead did no packaging or wrapping if any kind and stood it up on the wall of the truck on its own and strapped it with one strap. It broke in transit and they informed me once we arrived at the new home and they began unloading. The after service manager Ali did not help in any way just referencing that they don't ensure glass or mirrors. The item damaged was not transported as the company stated they would move it and this is very poor and disappointing service and after care. I will not use this company again and never refer them.

Long move from Winnipeg to Kelowna, frauds

It would have been a nightmare, but we kept calm and we could survive this loss. Mr Roserio who owns the franchise in winnipeg comes home, gives an estimate claiming the horror stories online are not valid. Tells you are nice people I will take care of you. We fell for his stories and act of kindness towards our one year old by paying $896. He never shows up at the time of pick up. When I call him he said it's delayed and stopped answering my call for next two days. He answers the call from other numbers and once he knew it was mine he stopped answering. He knew we will go away from there and I cannot give a police complaint. He also knows we will not waste our time with court with a little one while on the move. But he should have actually known how will these guys manage to vacate the house in four days time or what can happen to there move with a little one and so much stuff. Well finally after talking to another franchise from BC who informed the franchise owners about our story. Then roserio calls me saying I am sorry il pay your money back. I say ok thank you. He never transferred the money and stopped answering my calls again. We were able to recover immediately as we have back up. Please don't go with these guys, I don't know about other franchise, but please save yourself money and time, help others by not using the Winnipeg location two small men with big heart,

Not a good move, would not recommend them

We moved from a 2 bedroom apt just down the street to another 2 bedroom apt, both main floors. We had already moved both tvs, computers, all the media, 2 full truck loads and 3 van loads, hoping to cut costs. They were slow, broke my sons desk, dented the filing cabinet, were a 1/2 hr late, chipped out a chunk of the wall. Told me I could use a storage box for clothes and then charged me another $25. There is no way the remainder should have taken 5 hrs and then another for gas and mileage. When I called to complain I was put on hold, told I would get no money back, another man came on and said he'd call me back and never did. Terrible customer service, would never use them again. Felt totally ripped off.

Move from Winnipeg to Toronto

Hired Two Small Men for a move from Winnipeg to Toronto at the end of July 2014. Delivery did not go well. Two movers showed up to deliver our belongings in Toronto, only one, Michael, did any work. The other stood around at the truck smoking while Michael unloaded and moved everything in. My husband had to help Michael unload and bring furniture into our home. We don't mind helping out and unloading some boxes, but we specifically hired movers so that we wouldn't have to personally move furniture into our home. If we had planned on doing that, we would have just rented a Uhaul and done the entire thing ourselves.
When Michael and my husband took our very large couch off the truck to bring it into our home, we found that it wouldn't fit. Michael said that he would take the couch back to Winnipeg for us and deliver it to our family, which was very nice of him. Unfortunately, we haven't heard from or been able to get in touch with Michael since, so it seems as if he's taken our couch to live with him.
In addition, on the day of our Winnipeg pick up, the movers were late because the dispatcher apparently couldn't find anyone to work. This was incredibly unprofessional, particularly since we booked our move well in advance and needed to make sure everything was moved out of our apartment before our lease was up and before we got on our flight to Toronto. What kind of operation doesn't have sufficient and reliable staff in order to fulfill confirmed reservations?!
Some pieces of furniture were also damaged upon receipt.
We have attempted to make a complaint with the company and haven't heard anything from them. Apparently a "claim has been started" -- not sure what this means, but it has been over a month since this alleged claim process began and we have yet to hear anything from them. We want reimbursement for the lazy mover's wages -- he didn't work for them, we did, so we should get paid for that -- and also for our missing couch and damaged furniture.

Company Response

There seems to have been a misunderstanding regarding the sofa, but the sofa has been returned to the customers father in Winnipeg as planned. We did not charge to take the sofa back to Winnipeg as would normally been the procedure. We are looking into the other claims Jenna regarding the late pickup and the workers not doing their job.

Moving

My husband and I moved from Kamloops, BC to Brandon, MB. I was told items packed by the movers would be reimbursed completely if they were broken so I had them pack the kitchen stuff and breakables. After coming 2 days late, the movers took 7 hours to pack our 2 bedroom, tiny aparmtment. They then took over 2 weeks to deliver our stuff. The night before they arrived the driver asked me to text him my credit card info so he could complete the transaction. I said no, I would give my credit card over to be charged as soon as they showed up with our stuff. He got his boss in Winnipeg to call me and told him to get me to pay over the phone - I said again, I would only pay in person, when our stuff was delivered. This man was VERY rude over the phone. In unpacking we realized a mirror was broken (they packed it). I was told I would be given a form to fill out. A month and a half later, after many calls and emails I finally received the form, filled it out and sent it back. It was over 4 months later that I FINALLY heard back that there was, apparently, a $250 deductible on claimed items and because I claimed only $150, if I went through with the claim, I would owe $100.
This entire experience was a nightmare. This company is TERRIBLE.
