This is the second time I have used The Door Master and the same technician, Tim, on two different problems. After calling, appointment was setup within two days with a 2-hour arrival window. Tim called to confirm appt just prior to is on-time arrival. Tim explained to me that I had 2 springs, a left and a right and even tho only one had broken, the rule of thumb is to replace BOTH since the second spring could break at any time since springs are rated on usage cycles (how many times the door is opened and closed) . in my case the spring was rated at 10,000 cycles and I ended up having 11 years of use before the spring snapped.
Tim advised me that he only had only the left spring for my door with him but offered to use a stronger spring on the right side . all he would need to do is adjust the tension appropriately for each sized spring so the operation would be smooth.and even. That said, same price . in less than an hour springs were installed and adjusted accordingly, LiftMaster re-programmed and everything worked perfectly. Although I did not comparison shop to see if I could have got the repair cheaper, I went with the quality of service I received from Tim when he replaced the garage door cables a few years ago. It isnt always about the cost . infact, service trumps cost in MY book.
