Log Depot Renovations

The Log Depot crew has been very professional, from the initial engagement, through the detailed written contract, all the way to the final cleanup. They accommodated our tight schedule and were always willing to look into creative solutions needed in modernizing an old house. The quality of the work is outstanding, and we have already recommended them to friends.

Great customer service, top notch of quality work, timely completion, excellent atmosphere, done within agreed upon schedule and cost. Would highly recommend this company. Just call these guys and you won't regret.

Ivan was recommended to me by 2 people and I have no experience in renovations but found he took time with my concerns and showed me how things would be done. His crew are friendly and cleaned up each day before leaving. The work was excellent and I have had many compliments on our kitchen. He went the extra mile to get me a professional cabinet installers when we discovered the cabinet maker was not doing the installation. Both myself and my husband are very happy with the results and would not hesitate to recommend him to our friends.

Ivan has done a lot of renovations for our home, that included every room and area, all washrooms, new deck, basement, everything was done very professionally, high quality. After a while we had to move to a new place, he has helped us to do some more renovations (like new paint, door replacement, etc.) in the old house, so we could sell it better. We sold for the highest price and moved. Then in the new place he has done a new deck for us that looks fantastic. His work is always very good, he leaves the place looking great and clean all the mess. I highly recommend Ivan and his team.

We have decided to renovate our master bedroom bathroom and make it look cozy, modern and sophisticated at the same time. That's as far as our design and materials thought has gone. The rest, as it turned out, was for Ivan and Zoya to figure out. So Zoya has spent endless hours with my wife going through various designs, combinations of materials and the infinite what ifs, how abouts and could we do this and that. She's gone as far as taking my wife to the various stores to let her see the materials when the never ending stream of samples didn't move the project anywhere. Eventually the materials and the design were picked and Ivan's team has gone about their actual job. The actual work has started around two months after the originally scheduled date. An average contractor would have told us to wait till he has the next opening. Somehow Ivan managed to round up the resources and find the time to oversee the work practically on the daily basis. At the end we got the design we really like and enjoy and proudly show to all our friends who have heard all sorts of colorful stories about our design adventures. Having quality work didn't impress me as much as the infinite patience of LogDepot. I seriously doubt that anyone else would have had the patience for us. I tip my hat to you guys.

Ivan worked on a deck for my neighbour and it was eye catching. So I had him give me a price for my smaller deck. He had a lot of good idea's. It took two working days to finish and he put in more than we originally agreed to. Ivan spared no expense on the smaller details that I didn't even think about and now we have quite a beautiful deck. Ivan also solved other problems around my deck with hanging wires at no extra expense. Thank you Ivan for a great job and all your creative ideas. Highly recommend.

I hired Ivan, the owner of Log Depot Inc., for a couple of projects in 2013 after he provided his estimate and promised to solve our problems. The work started on the weekend and took about 3-4 weeks (workers were available mostly on the weekends), because it was done by one or two people at the time and those people were coming and leaving for days to carry out other Ivan's projects elsewhere. I remember making a number of calls to Ivan to find out when will the workers come back to continue renovation. Sometimes he cancelled next visit on a short notice or last minute. I numerously asked for written estimate and invoices, but was told not to worry, because everything will be done as agreed. When the renovation was done the main problem Ivan promised to solve had not been solved.

Another project was installation of sound barrier material on a separation wall and replacement basement LED lights. Ivan had given a reasonable estimate, got us "hooked", started the project, then the workers were unavailable for days and after all he tried to charge me four times more than the original estimate pretending that he forgot what it was.
Another problem was with LED lights, which Ivan represented as expensive but lasting very long time and covered by his/ Log Depot's lifetime replacement warranty. When three of LED lights he installed burned out early in 2015 and I asked Ivan for the replacement ones, he came up with a number of excuses (e.g. supplier does not have them in stock, supplier is not available, he is too busy to meet with me etc.). After more than 2 weeks of communication I insisted on meeting with him next day at certain time and place in Etobicoke, but Ivan did not show up! I called him a few times but he would not pick up the phone. Next day he called me back and said that he threw the lights away having listened to my voice message. No comments!

I hope other customers of Log Depot will have better experience, but, please, I would recommend them to get sound written agreements signed, before giving any business to Ivan and Log Depot Inc.

As first time homebuyers it was quite a whirlwind to find a perfect home in this crazy GTA market just a few months before our wedding last spring/summer. We found a home on the lake in the Beaches that had a beautiful view, great location, amazing "bones" but needed to be opened up and refreshed aesthetically. Before we bought the house we wanted to get a few contractors in to get some opinions and estimates to help solidify our vision. Our realtor recommended Ivan from Log Depot.
Right from our initial meeting, Ivan has been friendly, professional, courteous, quick to return phone calls, etc. He promptly prepared a quote and was very flexible with his schedule to meet us at the house, or local coffee shop, etc. His estimates were very reasonable and extremely competitive compared to the other 1 or 2 comparable quotes. We knew we were saving a lot of money going with Ivan and Log Depot - but at no sparing of work ethic, detail, professionalism, etc. He's an honest man, a hard worker and has a very friendly, courteous, hard working crew.
We knocked out bathrooms, created a new bathroom, knocked down walls, tore up floors, installed all new flooring, moved electrical & plumbing, renovated all of the staircases, resurfaced ceilings and installed all new ceiling lighting and also installed some custom built-ins such as beautiful custom wardrobes, wall shelving/fireplace/marble/mantle combo, a wet bar, vanity for a bathroom, etc.
Mostly they were on time and on budget - no huge surprises and very honest about any issues that did come up. I added in some additional costs and we chose some very expensive materials. Nothing was forced on us and he found some great solutions to some plumbing issues, electrical issues, etc. at honest pricing. The project was mostly completed on time but a few delays on orders, the July 1st weekend, unforeseen work, etc. which added extra time on to the project. We lived at our condo for as long as we could but eventually had to move into the construction zone. We couldn't have had a friendly crew working in our house. It felt more like family than a construction/renovation company. They often brought me coffee or extra lunch and were very thoughtful and considerate of us and the parts of the home that weren't under renovation.
Ivan helped us with some extra projects that we decided to incorporate into the renovation such as a new AC unit and his team helped with the extras such as hanging curtains, paintings, mirrors, etc.
Thankfully I had taken some time off of work so I was heavily involved in the design process including picking out tile, marble, flooring, lighting, paint colours, small things like doorknobs, etc. I also designed (Pinterest, home decor magazines, Houzz.com, etc) and picked out all of the materials for all of the built in furniture. Unfortunately, Ivan's suggested places to go were faaaaar away from my downtown/Beaches area so it would take most of the day to get there and back. If I hadn't had the time I'm not sure who would have filled this gap. If you don't have a vision, any design concepts or time to be going to a million different stores to look at the million options for all of the décor essentials I would highly suggest getting some sort of decorator or designer - someone who can work with Ivan and his team. It was very time consuming and I was new to home reno/home ownership so it was certainly challenging and I have a few regrets about how we could have designed our 1st floor better. I think an expert opinion/design would have been useful and interesting. But I'm sure we saved a lot of money! And everything turned out beautifully - like out of a magazine or my favorites on Houzz.com or Pinterest!
Ivan has become more like a friend and we've been so thankful to have him available to phone, or stop by when we've had a concern or question regarding our heating, water, etc. He came this winter to install a humidifier into our heating system and most recently this spring he came to cut open our wall to retrieve some pesky mice. Today one of his crew members was painting some touch ups and repairing the hole in the wall. Talk about long term service/commitment/guarantee!!!

I would definitely recommend Ivan from Log Depot and his crew to anyone who wants an honest, reliable, friendly, hard working contractor/team. I have recommended them to a few others and they've felt the exact same way. I have no doubt you'll be hiring them for future jobs.

We've used Log Depot on two major projects and both times we were very pleased with the outcome. The craftsmanship is excellent and the service is professional. Staff were very pleasant and trustworthy. We also appreciated the experienced problem solving skills which is crucial for any home renovation. Project estimates were realistic and reasonable. We plan to use Log Depot again in the future.
