Kanata Granite

We recently had a quartz countertop installed in our renovated kitchen. Kanata quartz Matt was very helpful explaining the difference between quartz and granite he showed us threw all the choices and was very helpful with the ordering and purchase. they arrived mid day on Thursday and the pieces were perfectly cut and installed quickly and professionally. They took the time to explain the care instructions. We are thrilled with our new countertop. Thanks kanata granite.

Second time using them for quartz. First was our ensuite and this time our kitchen with 3 different surfaces. It looks fantastic and installed 2 days after measurement. We had the opportunity to inspect the slabs before installation. Had to pay backsplash tile cutting and plumber separately and do your own caulking. Overall experience was great. It's not a fancy showroom so you are getting those cost savings.

I wanted to sleep on this before writing the review so I could give the most balanced feedback.
So, after few weeks, I can only say this - it was a nightmare !
I could not discuss technical details with Vasile whatsoever. He was incredibly dismissive and rude and only my wife's concern that we are going to stay with our kitchen upside down for a longer period of time ( needed to find another company) made me decide to go ahead.
We'd saved a couple a hundred of dollars but, boy, in hindsight, I wish we hadn't. We had to choose between Kanata Granite and another company ( can't say their name here ) and, again, we decided to save few bucks . So , we made the bad choice and we ended up going through two weeks of incredible stress. Vasile, I'd realized, has a poor understanding of measuring, cutting and adjusting. His employee however, thank God, was professional, quiet and respectful. In conclusion, if you want to save few bucks to the expense of your peace of mind, self respect and quality of service - Vasile is your man ... !

Very bad experience. The owner is taking the measurements on spot but mainly (when installing) the slabs are longer or shorter. ( convincing you to cover with more silicone or to cut parts of the drywall etc...) Installing the stone ( some) with very low quality for what he’s not informing the buyer when making the deal, and later on he doesn’t want to take any responsibility ( blaming the customer that they being cleaning the surface with acidic solutions or doesn’t answer his phone).

My wife and I went shopping for a new Granite counter top back in August 2019 and quickly realized the price could vary dramatically from company to company.

Based on our budget at the time we ended up going with Kanata Granite to install brand new black pearl counter tops in our kitchen.
The owner (Vasile) came across as confident in being able to do a professional job although we were concerned initially due to communication difficulties as English isn't his first language.

Nevertheless, we forged ahead and paid half the contract amount to initiate the job. We were pleasantly surprised that the granite was ready to be installed within a week after being measured so that part was good.
Vasile sent his installers to our house in mid August and those individuals were polite, professional and easy to deal with.

They completed the job within half a day and when finished rubbed sealer over all counter tops instructing us to leave them alone for 24 hours before cleaning with soap and water.

We looked everything over but it was hard to see the details given that the sealer was lathered onto the tops in a fashion that made it difficult to properly see details of the granite surface.

The next morning I paid the balance owing assuming that if we found any issues Kanata Granite would take care of it as any responsible, reputable and legitimate business owner would do. As it turned out, that was a very misguided assumption.

Later in the afternoon we wiped off the excess sealer and cleaned everything only to spot a large area near our sink that had numerous scratches and what appeared to be an attempt to spot polish one of those scratches.

Given that the problem area was positioned directly below the kitchen window, the natural light really accentuated the scratches and especially the botched spot polishing job. This might not have been as noticeable on lighter color granite but on the black pearl it definitely stands out.

At that point, we weren't too concerned figuring Kanata Granite would simply come in and correct the issues. So over the next few weeks I made repeated attempts to contact Vasile via text, email and phone but did not hear back. Vasile finally contacted us in late September and indicated the original installer would be sent back to our house to inspect the scratches.

The installer confirmed the scratches and problem areas and explained that trying to fix them using spot polishing techniques was going to make matters worse and indicated they had talked with Vasile and he came to the same conclusion. They made it clear that Kanata Granite simply did not have the expertise to correct the problem areas on the counter top.

Once again we naively assumed that Vasile would now step up to the plate and either hire a company that does have the necessary expertise to fix the problems or reimburse us so we could have it fixed ourselves. Neither of these things transpired.

In fact, since the beginning of October we've tried emailing, texting, left numerous phone messages but have received no response whatsoever. Kanata Granite has summarily abandoned us knowing full well our installation has defective areas that need repair. What kind of a business treats their customers like this?

Based on our interaction with Kanata Granite we can only advise you to avoid this company at all costs as they appear to have no concept of honesty, integrity, customer service and simply do not stand behind their own work.

Before going with Kanata Granite we talked to quite a few other fabricators and their quote was the best in Ottawa. This is a family-run business that doesn't have salespeople or a fancy location which saves the costs. So although communication may be not as smooth as in the other granite shops, the quality of granite fabrication and installation are great.

After we selected the granite slab at the warehouse, it took only a few days to get it done. Our slab had large patterns and several spots of mica, so the owner recommended how to place the cuts and the seam for better looks and durability. After measuring, the owner and his assistant installed the countertop the next day in just a few hours. Me and my wife are quite happy with our new countertop.

I have used Kanata granite twice; once a supply and installation of a quartz countertop for a wet bar in my newly refinished man-cave. The second for a supply only quartz top in for an ensuite vanity. Although selection was not what is available at larger stores, the pricing and workmanship were very good. Overall this was an excellent experience and I have recommended them to family and friends.

We chose to work with Kanata Granite as they have a 48 hour installation timeline if you choose a countertop that's in stock (lots of options). The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, they were able to help us make an informed decision without any pressure. We were not disappointed, our countertops were delivered on time and they look absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend them and will be using them again for our future projects!

We've used Kanata Granite twice now - once for our Kitchen countertop and most recently (December 2016), for a bathroom remodel.

Both times they have amazed! With our kitchen countertop, Vasile (the owner) came in, took a few minutes to measure and when delivered, the pieces were SEAMLESS (sometimes hard to get with granite) and the custom piece we needed, he recommended some changes in the design and had it delivered that day. He recommended using Master Granite in Ottawa for choosing the perfect slab.

With our bathroom top, we used a remnant piece found at their site. We saw it on the Saturday - it was installed (with sink) on the Thursday.

Highly recommended!

We first called a different Granite Company and a sales rep came to our house and gave us a quote to install their product over our counters. We were showed small samples of colors (4x4) and not very many to choose from. We were very surprised with the price he quoted to do our kitchen and one bathroom. It seemed quite expensive to us for a substance that was not a true stone product. We then called Kanata Granite for a quote and went to their office to see their product. There are many different colors and types of granite, marble and quarts samples to choose from, with varying price ranges. His wife in the store was very nice and there was no pressure to buy anything. She spent time going over the different types of stone, prices and options available. She suggested we bring in samples from our home to make sure what we liked match what we picked. The owner Vasile came to our house, did all measurements and quoted a price that was less than HALF of what the other Company quoted us!
We gave them the job and the work was done without delay. He was very accommodating with our time because we worked Monday to Friday. His team was very efficient and prompt in their work. He gave great tips on how to make our kitchen more attractive, personalized looking and updated. They also supplied and installed lovely sinks in the kitchen and bathrooms, although the plumbing connections were done by my husband. We had our kitchen and 2 bathrooms done for half the price of the other Company and have not regretted it. We are very pleased and satisfied with our choice.
We are very happy with the whole experience we received from Kanata Granite and now have real Granite (and Quartz in onsuite).
