Avoid Appliance Repair Guys!

Avoid the Appliance Repair Guys!
They provide an untrained technicians who are unequipped and unqualified to service the appliances. They charge $280 for providing no service whatsoever.
The technicians were unable to fix the fridge, and kept on "diagnosing" the issue by adding additional part to be replaced in order to fix it.
By the looks of it, they could have re-build the fridge and charge me for all parts of it individually. I would be better off buying a new one and save myself the disappointment of dealing with them.
Just read other reviews and it seems my experience was pretty much like other people who posted their review. Now thinking of it, they should be reported to the Better Business Bureau, their business model is to charge service fees and provide NO service.

repair

Asked for cooktop repair, was told $80 for call, After he dismantled and rebuit cooktop it still do not initially work, and charged me another $280 for the work. Says new board will be $1200 + yet entire cooktop less than $1200 new. I left the top 'on' and it was flashing errors, but after 5 minutes it cleared and it appears to be okay. I'll provide an update in a few days, hoping for the best!

Useless

Their very slick website says that they are able to service LG products but as it turns out when a part is required they aren't actually certified by LG and so can't get any parts. I paid $280 for them to diagnose a problem they couldn't fix only to have to pay another $200 to LG themselves to come out, diagnose the same problem, and install the part.

Avoid this company at all costs.

Refrigerator Service Call

BEWARE! The technician for "Appliancerepairguys" Charged us $290.00 to "diagnose/service" our fridge problem. He spent possibly 30 minutes on the fridge, and told us the issue was ice build up on the evaporator fan. He said he defrosted the fan and then said it was fixed. He then quoted $550 to replace evaporator fan motor, if in fact, it was not fixed as he reported. Luckily, we have found a more reputable company that will replace the evaporator fan motor for one third of the combined total of above.

Dishwasher repair

Came by and charged me $80, didn't even diagnose the problem right (said it was drainage and it's a motor issue) - they said it would be $280 (the exact same amount as others on here) to just check the system - extra for parts, and no warranty - strongly do not recommend!!

Never again.

My history is same as others. Appliance Repair Guys took from us $300.00 for only 15 minutes work, for just checking, no changing any parts. My fridge is still broken. I expected that they will fix my fridge for that money, they never told me before that diagnosis is so expensive! For part and installation they wanted another $520.
I just regret, that I didn't check them before I called.
They doing this for years! How is this possible???

Estimate to repair Maytag washer

I thought that for $80 I would find out what was the matter with my washing machine and be able to make an informed decision about how to proceed. And this is not what happened.

I stood by while the service person partially filled the machine, set it to spin and listened to the noise I was worried about. He said that there was a problem which could be resolved by one of three or four different possible repairs with a range of costs depending on which part or parts needed to be replaced. So far so good - this is what I expected to hear. In fact I could have told him that much myself.

He further explained that to provide an actual estimate for the cost to repair the machine he would have to open it up. This also made perfect sense to me. But this is where I feel like things took a wrong turn.

He explained that he would have to charge $280, instead of $80, to go any further. I would have to sign an agreement to pay the $280 plus tax - total $316.40, after which the machine might not be fixed (even worth fixing.)

The service person seemed to be in a hurry for me to make a decision and I stupidly made the hasty choice to agree. But if I'd said "no thanks" he would have just left. I'd still be out $80, and no further ahead with the machine having to find and pay someone else and to come and look at it. So with great misgivings I signed the agreement.

The service person came upstairs less than 20 minutes later to say he had completed his inspection of the machine and closed it up. but would not be able to fix it because a part was needed. He reported that everything else inside is good except for the transmission which will cost $942 to replace. He explained that I'd only have to pay half up front for a Transmission Kit, which has to be ordered. I'd have to pay the balance on completion of the work.
The whole estimated amount on the document he left with me was $1380, $316.40 of which I was obliged to pay. He said we should get in touch with their office if we want to go ahead.

He did offer the opinion, when asked, that if I chose to proceed I'd have a machine that was "as good as new", and that a newer model might not be as good My high capacity commercial grade machine cost $679 in 2000. I've looked around and with some careful shopping I could buy a new (warrantied) washer of comparable size and quality for about $1000. To satisfy my own morbid curiosity I intend to find out how much the actual part costs from a reputable supplier of Maytag parts.

Some simple arithmetic tells me that $280 for 20 minutes work is the same as $840 an hour.
As a person who works for a (living) hourly wage I'd find this who saga laughable if I wasn't the one who just wasted $316.40.

Dishwasher and Washing Machine

Joe came out to fix my appliances. We were told that there were parts coming off the motor but he had fixed it and it would be good but would eventually need a new motor. So to clean out the drain was $316.40. I used the dishwasher twice before it did the same noise. Same with my washing machine, it smelled like a burning belt, Joe said the drum would seize up as they do in Samsung and eventually I would need a new drum ($1,500). I used it after he left and it broke immediately. I know things can happen, my issue is that this company do NOT guarantee their work, so even though my dishwasher broke a few days after service, they wanted to charge me a service fee. NOT going to happen. Use someone who will guarantee their work, that shows faith in their ability to diagnose and correct the problem. Very Unhappy.

Fix dryer

This company is a complete rip off. They charge $ 80.00 to come out and with just turning on my dryer the repair guy Matt comes up with $ 280.00 repair without even looking at anything. He stated $ 120.00 for motor, $ 90 to calibrate drum and $70 for who knows what. It took him 30 mins and he had to replace a squeaky pulley. Another $ 125.00. Total bill was $ 452.00 for 30 mins of work. I called to complain and the company doesn't care. I WOULD NEVER USE this company and hope others do not get ripped off by these clowns.

Pathetic Service

Samsung provided the name and number to this company which came out and wanted $280 to just look at the fridge and then the total repair bill came to $900 and the problem is back again. This companies "warranty" policy is 30 days, even though the SAME ISSUE came back.

All I can say is pay with a credit card as I put in a dispute for the credit card payment and Visa will give me my money back as the service was not done since the same problem is happening again.
