Taylor Landscape Construction

As always, I reviewed HomeStars and came up with 3 companies to contact. In March 2021 I reached out to them all and Chris was the first to respond (within a day). He explained that he acts as Project Manager and designer now only, working with 4 other companies to do the work. We arranged a time for him to come by the next day and it did not take long before we knew we were in good hands. He makes you feel comfortable with his patient, knowledgeable and pressure free approach. He listened to what we wanted and answered all our questions. We also discussed design features and product options.

That evening he prepared a design plan with a detailed description and sample photos. We approved it and he sent it off to the contractors to quote on our behalf. We received 2 quotes back (other 2 were booking for the following year which we were not interested in) and decided to make some changes but selected a contractor to secure a time slot given they were booking for August/September.

Chris provided addresses of his projects for us to confirm ideas and products. After giving him more feedback he prepared several altered designs, met with us to review sample products (some of which he left for us to think about). After some more discussions we settled on a design and product selections and the new design was sent to the contractor to update their estimate.

We received the estimate and ultimately signed a contract with the contractor (contractor pays Chris so we did not pay him anything). The work was completed by early October and Chris stopped by regularly to check on the progress and ensure we were pleased.

In the end we could not be happier with the design, the work completed and the entire process with our new friend Chris. He was always very quick to respond and provide detailed replies which made everything go smooth. Initially I was unsure how things would go with a separate Project Manager but in the end it was the best way. He was able to spend considerable more time with us than what a contractor would have and he does the work of getting multiple quotes.

UPDATE: In the Spring the stone looked as good as when it was placed (no settlement or unevenness). Although not part of the original scope, I invited Chris to return to help us select plants and design the layout. He quickly made time for us and even went to the nursery with us to pick out and purchase the best plants. We could not be happier with the outcome! Thanks again Chris!

Chris met with us in early Spring to discuss our requirements, review our site and options. He promptly returned with his design, estimates and a contract.
He and his crew were professional, polite, knowledgeable and approachable. They arrived on time, worked solidly, quickly and efficiently through 40C+ heat. Great care was taken to protect our existing structures to be retained and to carefully transport, place and secure our new walkway, patio and stairs. The site was kept clean while they were working and our existing lawn was protected.
Chris was proactive with status updates and offered reasonable suggestions when a change of plan was required due to some challenges with elevations. We are delighted with the results and several of our neighbours have commented favourably about the new design too.

From the first time I met with Chris, I knew he would be the one to redo our backyard patio. I had no desire to get a second quote. Chris immediately gives you a comfort level that you know you can trust. He is always willing to meet with you, several times, to plan the design, through to selecting products/colors for the project. He is extremely knowledgeable and helps you make decisions by sharing his expertise and making recommendations. He and his crew, Kyle and Brad, were so easy to deal with. They met their timelines, left our backyard neat and tidy each day, respected our property, and couldn’t do enough for us during building us a brand new patio. We are delighted with the finished product and would highly recommend them to anyone interested in dealing with a dedicated, sincere, and highly competent landscaper.

Chris and his team recently completed work on our front porch and walkway. They did an excellent job and exceeded our expectations in every way. We can’t say enough good things about Chris and Taylor Landscape Construction. Chris came when he said he would (on Mother’s Day!). We had had 4 no shows from other companies and one where we were provided a quote without being given a plan or had any discussion about materials, colours, or style.
In fact, Chris came three times. Once for the initial consultation and twice more with a variety of materials and colours for us to peruse and approve.
With our consent Chris made a last minute design change which made the design more aesthetically pleasing. He even did some extra work that was attached to the job so that everything would be balanced.

This was my second time hiring Chris and his team. The project this time was to create a more appealing front porch and walkway area. Chris took the time to develop several potential designs - all of which could have been used. The final design incorporated armour stones, a natural stone step and a colour scheme that blended seamlessly with the brickwork. He and his team arrived each day on time and left the site clean and tidy. I look forward to next spring when I hire him for some additional landscaping work.
