Overcharged, poor customer service!

I had an awful experience with this company. A quick search will reveal google reviews with complaints such as damaged furniture, no communication, late pick up times, zero compensation, and quotes that doubled before dropping off the furniture. Unfortunately, I did not look up these reviews before I committed to using Trillium movers for the move of my two bedroom apartment. I was quoted between 350-400$ total for moving my two bedroom apartment in Mississauga into two separate locations: a home in Brampton and a home in Ajax. I was told by staff at Trillium movers that there would a scaling fee of about 26 cents per item if we required over night storage and next day delivery. We did not require this additional service and had the delivery done same day for both locations. Upon arrival at our first drop off location in Brampton, I was told that before I can make a payment I would need to call their head office and get my quote over the phone. I called and was then quoted about 1300$ for my move. I asked to speak to a manager and we were passed around to different staff members who told us if we did not pay the total in full, that they would place our belongings into a storage facility located in Scarborough and would have to pay even more fees!! We decided to call them back and ask for a quote for the exact same move. A girl on the phone quoted about 450$ and said that is the final price. She mentioned the 26 cent scaling fee is for over night storage only. We called back again and brought this to their attention. We had received the same quote and we were obviously being taken advantage of! They refused to release any of our belongings to us until payment was made. The manager was cold and condescending, unprofessional, and rude. It was outrageous and I was of course devastated. I am a single mother of a 7 year old and the whole reason I was moving was to live with family because I could no longer afford to pay rent. To top it off my daughter's dresser was broken and there was substantial damage to other items during that move. We paid them the 1300$ and then they charged an additional 3% of the total because I used my credit card, totaling about 1413$. We are so disappointed that this company has been getting away with misleading their customers this way. They offered zero apology, remorse, compassion, or compromise in my situation.

They offered me a $20 settlement for breaking 2 $100(each) chairs

Worst experience ever. The quote was double the final price. They charged base on the weight of items, but they do not weight the items infront of you so there is no way for you to confirm/deny the final weight/cost. The movers were suppose to show up between a time frame of 12-4pm. They showed up after 5pm, which caused me to miss the elevator I had to pay to book. My furniture was taken to a storage facility and delivered the next day. When I finally received my furniture it was servery damaged. I had a wooden table set and they broke 2 of the 4 chairs. They wrapped the 2 broken chairs in bubble wrap so that i would not notice until they were gone and I started unpacking. The chair legs were broken and the movers attempted to fix them by putting nails and wood glue. The set was valued at $500 meaning that each chair was atleast $100 each. I filled out a claims form provided pictures. The processing time for a claim is 4-6weeks. It took 8-9 weeks to get a response about my claim. They offered me $20 for everything.

Be aware of terms of the move - Avoid Surprises

I am giving 2 star because although service is mediocre at best, I got all my stuff without getting lost. I am happy about that. I want to acknowledge the hard work of people. Also, there was a billing error regarding additional warehouse charges. Issue was fixed without delay by the customer service who acted on my email request for help.
Caution:
1. I was served by contracted movers working on behalf of Trillium
2. It was confusing for me as to when my stuff would be delivered. The invoice did not capture this clearly
3. The final bill was about 40% more. Quote price for moving 11 medium boxes, 4 large suitcases, 4 large boxes, queen mattress was $770
4. There seems to be a $375 deductible for lost luggage
5. The paper agreement says 'Declared Value' as ‘Declined’ if you do not talk about value of the move with the company before move date
6. There might be a Pick up and Destination Fee – mine came to about $275 (included in quote)
7. They charge a scale fee of $45 (included in quote)
8. The window of waiting for movers to arrive is large 3-5 hours. I was moving after office hours and there was no contact between the contracted movers and myself. They came when they came. Caused a lot of rescheduling and heartburn
Conclusion: I think I should have had Trillium come before the move to give me an actual paper quote after a visual survey of my stuff. Also, I don’t believe there was any cost advantage for me, in the end, when comparing Trillium with other established movers. Perhaps, the move would have been hassle free and cheaper if movers have their own truck and staff to move. Multiple hand-off seems to have increases costs and decreased transparency.

Horrible Service

Most of my stuff made the trip from Winnipeg to Ottawa. Unfortunately I wanted, and had expected, all of my stuff to make.

Dealing with this company was a hassle from the second they got my things loaded into their truck.

The final price was double what they quoted for a one bedroom apartment.

On top of that there were at least two unaccounted for boxes (actually one box and a bag) and my vacuum. When they came to drop off the items they unloaded a chair that wasn't mine, which I quickly pointed out to them.

I called them immediately when I noticed items were missing (the bag and vacuum were to easy to spot) and they sent me the paperwork to file a claim. I told them that I wanted the items and asked them to contact the truck and they told me that they could check their warehouse but that the truck had already left to the next location.

I followed up by email no less than three times after asking if there was any luck locating my items. They would apologize, tell me they would contact the warehouse and message me when they had a reply and I never heard from them again.

I do not recommend.

Terrible service, terrible price. Would NOT recommend!

I moved from Brampton to Mississauga (they charged me long distance pricing. For those who are unaware, theres a 20- 30 minutedrive from Brampton to Mississauga). They told me I had 2,700 lbs when I only moved a BEDROOM not a bedroom apartment (minus the kitchen, couches, etc). They were very hard to negotiate with.. I asked for multiple services (such as an in home quotation), one of their representative told me it was not possible. When we had a disagreement over the price, they told me it was possible, but I didn't ask. The delivery men were alright (attitude wise), but all
they cared about was their money. They kept insisting on getting paid and a confusion occurred with the buildings booked elevator, they charged me extra 84$ for overtime. When I asked the delivery guys to assemble my furniture, they told me they didn't have time.. so I alone (21 year old girl, with no experience and being new to Canada) had to figure out everything alone. It was the most terrible experience of my life. I would NOT recommend. There are other better-worthy companies out there that provide better prices and better services.

Stress-free move, 100% would recommend!

Needed to move from Kingston into downtown Toronto, but wasn't looking forward to the stress of renting a van and maneuvering it. Chose Trillium based on the customer service when I first called. Everyone in the office was polite and professional. I had my stuff picked up and delivered on two different days by two different teams, but everyone was organized and the entire experience was stress free. The communication was stellar, all my questions were answered as soon as I emailed them and they called me to confirm pick up and drop off times as well as to confirm the final cost. 10/10 would recommend to anyone and will definitely use again!

Terrible customer service

I wish I had read these reviews before shipping with Trillium. I shipped from BC to NS and throughout the process the company has been vague about when I might expect the goods to arrive. First I was told 10 days, and then 14 + days, and now it has been nearly a month and I am still waiting for my things. When I called the company to address this, the relocation planner was passive aggressive, and belittling. She did not respond to my concerns. I don't think that it is unreasonable to expect a company to be able to tell it's customers up front what to expect when using their services.... Don't ship with Trillium.

Moving services

Absolutely DO NOT use Trillium moving and storage. Besides being 7.5 hours late on move day which created a whole slew of problems, they gave me an email quote of $2,300 and upon arrival in NS charged me over double the quote price. They require a certified cheque before releasing my belongings, so your out of luck if they have not done the job you paid for. It took 6 weeks and 1 day for my belongings to arrive. They broke my king size bed frame and T.V, lost $150 worth of my belongings and damaged every single piece of my furniture in big ways. ( broken parts, gouged and dented) Their employees led me to believe the company would take care of damages done through an insurance claim which took approximately 9 weeks to process. I had to document with pictures all my claims of damage. The claim was over $5000 in damages and they are offering me $75. They told me I needed to have added additional insurance coverage to have had better coverage. That they are sorry for the damages done, but basically too bad.
They said that the money I saved by not getting additional insurance could be used now to replace the things they lost, destroyed and damaged. I paid this company approximately $5000 to lose, destroy and damage my belongings. Their lack of action is unethical and immoral. Please do not make the same mistake as me.

HORRIFIC COMPANY

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. They subcontract other substandard companies to load the truck and you will never see your stuff again.

They kept everything in the world from an elderly lady and have never returned it. They are blaming the sub-company and the sub-company is just as horrible. We will never see my mom's life's possessions again. They are even holding my deceased dad's wedding ring.

I'm not kidding or exaggerating please do not use this company. They aren't JUST incompetent, and they say terrible things to make you think you are crazy. It makes you feel sick talking to them.
