Enjoyed working with them

Just wanted to drop a quick note about my experience working with Troico and especially with Vanessa. She's got a lot on her plate, always juggling a ton of client work. This means she's not always on call, but it's understandable given her dedication to quality service.

When we do get to talk, Vanessa is all about clarityshe lays out exactly what's needed to push our project forward. Its a no-nonsense, get-things-done attitude that I really appreciate.

All in all, teaming up with them has been a productive experience. They're definitely committed to their clients and it shows.

The worst trades company I've ever dealt with

Do not even consider hiring Troico for any work, unless you want to deal with the most unpleasant, inconsiderate, responsibility-evading CEO/manager youll ever come across in the trades.

I am compelled to share my experience with Troico to inform potential clients of the issues we faced during our project. Our experience, unfortunately, was not positive, and it culminated in dissatisfaction with both the service and management.

While the craftsmanship, particularly from an employee named Silvestre, was commendable, we faced significant project management challenges. There was confusion around contract details and additional costs, which were not clearly communicated upfront. The breakdown was as follows: we received a quote primarily for millwork, which we later learned did not include separate line items for subsequent drywalling, painting, and plumbing expenses, totaling an unexpected additional $5000+.

The owner, Vanessa, insisted that we were not contracted for general contractor services, which was contrary to our understanding of the scope of work. This became a point of contention and led to a breakdown in communication.

The project suffered from delays. Our expectation, set by Troico, was that the delivery and installation would be completed within specific dates, which were not met. The reasons providedillnesses in the team and a power outagewere outside our control and further delayed the completion.

Moreover, we encountered issues with the consistency of the wood color between my desk and the cabinetry, which was initially dismissed as within acceptable standards until we insisted on remediation.

Lastly, we were dissatisfied with the companys logo/branding on our custom furniture, which was not discussed beforehand. Vanessa steadfastly refused to do anything about this, claiming that we should have known about this despite no discussions ever taking place about this, nor anything being stipulated in the *custom* blueprints. Standard practice we were told, a constant phrase Vanessa uttered when her company did something against our stipulations. Again, no apologies, no taking of responsibility, and refusal to do anything to make things right, which at this point was not surprising.

While we did receive a discount at the project's conclusion, it did not fully compensate for the additional costs incurred due to the delays and remediation work required, nor the frustration, inconvenience, and mental toll we experienced.

Its important to note that Troicos BBB accreditation has been revoked, and they currently have an F rating, yet the BBB seal remains on their website as of my last visit, which I find misleading. (Google "Troico BBB" to verify this.)

I would never even consider hiring Troico again and I urge you not to either, unless you want endless headaches, dreadful communication, and a total lack of responsibility to own up to mistakes. An awful company to deal with.

Vanessa, as the face of Troico, its clear that we are far from the only recent customers to notice that there is significant room for improvement in customer relations and project management. Constructive feedback is integral for growth, and I trust this review serves as a catalyst for positive change.

CABINETS Throughout Condo

FIVE STARS!
Yeah, I was pretty nervous about hiring a company to install cabinets in our new condo. When we were negotiating to purchase this place, my wife had said, "All I need is new carpet and paint and I'll be happy." Famous last words. Our place had a serious lack of storage. We were downsizing and had donated, sold or thrown out so much. But, there were heaps of things with no place to go. Mike and his team showed up, came up with some great ideas and designs, and then BAM...delivered it. I was on a tight budget and schedule. We started to move in, and my major spine surgery was moved up six weeks. I didn't want workers there while I was laying in bed in pain. They hustled, but made sure to deliver the goods. One guy even fixed a kitchen cabinet that they hadn't even installed. I am providing this endorsement fully. Troico did a great job.

Main Floor Reno including outdoor Deck

I first saw Troico in the newspaper advertising fixed price contracting. We needed a main floor done (kitchen, powder room, family and dining room) so I went into their showroom in Coquitlam and chatted with them about the job. We decided on a budget and started design. Troico applied for permits once the design was done. The city took forever to come back with permits but once they did construction went fairly smooth. The quality of the work is outstanding and we love the job they did. They were a month delayed from the original finish date, but I did add in a basement family room so it’s understandable. Their quality is great and their people are good too especially their designer Nancy, we really enjoyed working with her.

kitchen and Master Bathroom Renovation

We hired Troico to do our kitchen and master bathroom renovation. We mainly chose them as their fixed pricing system appealed to us. We had our basement done by another contractor who went over our budget by 20%. Troico’s system allowed us to stay in budget and maximize our dollar. Our master bath and kitchen is superb. We would recommend Troico. We know our Neighbours have already contacted them for their kitchen.

Our Renovation

I initially Chose Troico becasue of Kathryn Wong (one of their in-house interior designers) As an Interior Decorator, I needed to work with someone who understood my personal style in addition to building codes and construction practices. Kathryn showed endless patience when it came to "change orders" and offered valuable advice throughout the project. We ended up doing a full, down to the studs renovation. Kathryn came up with two things that I could not envision; she created an En Suite for our Master Bedroom and a pony wall at our entrance area that "opens up" the space beautifully!
One thing about Troico, that is so important to know is that they only deal with the VERY BEST when it comes to the Trades People and the Cabinet Makers and Cabinet Installers were fantastic! The office staff, Troico Crew and our Project Manager Sean Forshner were always positive, calm and a pleasure to deal with. Were there any "hiccups" along the way? Sure, but that is to be expected with a renovation of this size and a home that was built in 1958. At the end of the day, Vanessa Richter took great care of us and made sure we were satisfied and happy. We now LOVE our home and the heart of it, the kitchen is exactly what I envisioned!

Kitchen Reno

We built out house 32 years ago and had not touched it since, aside from maintenance. The kitchen was an old style- dark, dingy and inefficient for modern times. We needed the kitchen to blend with the vision we had for the rest of the house. Nancy took us through the process of planning and designing the perfect kitchen. (cabinets, lighting, counters, flooring, backsplash and even appliances. Once Troico got started on construction, like Nancy, the trades were very hard working. People who really cared about their quality of work. The cabinet installers took time to make sure all cabinets were installed perfect. The quality we were especially happy with. We had a neighbour hire Troico after seeing our kitchen. We had no issues recommending them to go ahead.
