Heating, Air Conditioning, In Floor Heating, Plumbing

WARNING – PLEASE BEWARE. To detail all of the problems would be a herculean effort, so I’ve noted the significant ones. What I am highlighting is FACT which can NOT be refuted by Pro Solutions (Jason and Company) :

1. Pro Solutions installed a roof drain improperly which resulted in water pooling in our the ceiling. The ceiling (poly, spray foam, and cellulose insulation), needed to be ripped open to identify and fix the problem. They failed to glue a joint at the elbow properly which allowed for water to leak out.

2. Installed in floor heating (PEX) lines improperly which floated to the surface when the concrete was poured. As this did not meet CODE for safety reasons, ALL the concrete on the main and second floors needed to be ripped out and re-poured. The in floor heating lines needed to be re-installed on the two levels.

3. They completely missed installing a gas line on our second level deck.

4. Plumbing rough-ins were not centered properly – as a result I had to re-mount 9 faucet rough ins so the final trim could be installed.

5. Leak in final installation of boiler – which flooded the utility room with glycol.

6. 5 Ton AC unit was improperly installed in Fall 2013 (so utilization of the unit was limited). I had pointed out the air flow on second level seemed inadequate, but Jason assured me this was normal (he often disregards customer concerns by indicating its part of the "fine tuning" process). In July 2014 when we turned on the AC for the first time, the cooling seemed weak for a 5 ton unit. Due to the incorrect installation, an ICE DAM formed, which prevented air flow. The huge mass of ice melted and flooded the basement, causing damage to the walls, baseboard and carpet. Fortunately, I had withheld funds (around $5400), which forced Pro Solutions to follow up. It turns out they "tuned" the furnace to push out air for a 1 ton AC unit, when it should have been for a 5 ton AC unit. Sadly, the fix was simply to set the proper parameters in the "contractor settings" on the thermostat.

7. May 22-26, 2015 – the AC unit was not working in the sweltering heat. Despite providing the symptoms of the problem : (a) No cool air from vents (b) AC unit cycling on/off every 20 seconds (c) Copper pipe not cold (for condenser), Jason was unwilling to provide any insights as to what the problem could be – likely another issue with their installation. As we had squared up our balance last year, Jason was quick to suggest finding another company to service the unit. Pretty, inhumane to leave a pregnant woman to fend for herself in a stifling house registering 28 degrees.

8. In all, the issues stemming from Pro Solutions easily set back our home construction by at least 4 months (1 month for roof leak, 1 month for in floor heating, 1 month air conditioning, 1 month for other issues and revolving door of trades). Time is money. In hindsight, it was a $55,000+ job they were not capable of handling or deserving of.

Before you go forward with Pro Solutions based on Google’s returned results (like I did unfortunately) – please take a moment to consider whether a company with this type of service is deserving of your hard earned AFTER TAX dollars. You earn your money honestly - so the company vying for your business should too. I followed Jason’s most honest recommendation, and went with a different HVAC/plumbing provider to rectify their unprofessional AC installation. The diagnosis, showed leaks throughout the installation which requires a replacement of the coil. Total pain will be upwards of another $1000.

Homestars offers a broader range of experiences than Google reviews - some which echo my sentiment (5.2/10) :

I hope this review serves others well to avoid the angst and anguish my family has had to endure in dealing with Pro Solutions. Please spend your money wisely.
