Homeowners beware! If you are looking for a reliable company to complete work on your home, then this is NOT the one for you!
We hired Louie’s Siding and Roofing to install new siding, eavestrough, soffit, and fascia. We also originally wanted him to change our windows around our house. We told him which windows we wanted to be casement, however, when he brought back a printout from Home Depot with prices, none of the windows were casement. We informed him of this, and he brought yet another printout with prices, and again, none of these were casement. He insisted they were and kept asking if we would be redoing the windows. We then went to Home Depot ourselves to double-check, and the employee also confirmed that those he had selected were all sliding windows. We asked him to only cap the windows that weren’t being replaced, which he did incorrectly. He used two pieces along one side instead of one continuous piece that was connected only at the corners and all the corners were completed differently.
We provided a deposit for the siding work which was already agreed upon. We originally chose a colour only to be told that it wasn’t available and would take 3 weeks to arrive from the warehouse. We wanted to start the job soon, so we chose another colour which he told us was completely in stock. When he began the job, he only brought material for less than half of the entire house. The fascia he installed was done in multiple pieces along each edge, as opposed to one or a few pieces. He also installed the fascia without removing the gutters, even though he was to replace the gutters as well, so the fascia covered the bottom half below the gutter. He clearly brought a box of siding with leftover pieces and chose to use this instead. Some of the pieces also had holes — his reasoning for this was due to manufacture’s defect. We informed him that this needed to be fixed.
When we asked him when the remaining material was going to arrive, he said he had ordered it and that it would be in the following week. When the week came, he asked us for money so he could buy the material. We then questioned him, as he told us it had already been ordered and asked to see the receipts. He kept telling us the receipts were at home, and each day he would show up without them. He then told us he needed more money because he doesn’t have money to pay for the material, nor does he have a credit card. He also told us that he needed more money from us so that he could pay his workers. We told him that this was not our responsibility, and that the agreement was to pay the remaining balance once the job had been completed in full. These were all big red flags. Our biggest regret is that we did not look his company up online to check his reviews prior to hiring him, as they are all quite similar stories to ours.
