My young cat got up on the roof and got stuck. I thought he would eventually find a way down but after several hours it was obvious that he couldn't. I didn't know who to call. The fire department don't rescue animals (it's not like on tv!). Couldn't find any private rescue services either so, at about 8pm, I called Walter, who had previously done a great job on two separate projects at my home. I knew it was an unusual request, and did expect him to say they couldn't help, but amazingly instead he said, “no problem, we can stop by first thing tomorrow”. The team was able to get my cat safely down for which I am truly grateful. I would highly recommend Walter and his team, not only do they do great work but they obviously care about their customers and go above and beyond.

This is a family business and you can tell they care about their work and their customers. Not only were they professional and on time, but they listened to our needs, provided highly informed ideas and feedback, and exceeded our expectations with the rebuild. After noticing a leak in a closet we realized the roof was leaking around the chimney. I contacted Townshend by email and they sent someone to the site within 15 minutes. The chimney was leaning badly and we agreed that it needed to be rebuilt from the roofline up. As it was no longer being used by the furnace we only needed a few courses of bricks rebuilt. This was done today and the chimney capped. While on the roof they noticed a gap in the flashing and a substantial hole between the flashing and the roof. They repaired and caulked the flashing and did some other minor repairs to the flashing on the roof slope since they were already up there. At the end of the work there was a complete clean up done including sweeping and hosing down the deck at the rear. The crew was courteous, efficient and skilled. This is the second time we have used this company and know that the original homeowner used the service when it was the Townshend grandfather running the business. I recommend them highly for their reliability and skill.

Our liner had to be replaced and we had no hot water for over a week and a half. Someone highly recommended Walter Townshend & Son Inc. to us, so we decided to give them a try.

Ron Townshend and his crew are very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. They are also very fast and efficient. They replaced the chimney liner and broken vent really fast despite of working on a very hot and humid day.

We were very impressed with their work and would definitely hire them again in the future and recommend them to everyone!

I highly recommend Walter Townshend & Sons - very knowledge, professional, and courteous. They were incredibly helpful after a negative experience with a different company. After being left with no chimney, Townshend & Sons went to lengths to ensure my chimney was rebuilt so it was put up properly, quickly, and as cost effective (a challenging scaffolding situation) as possible.

And couple of months ago I was having some problems with my chimney/fireplace. I called around looking for some quotes and thankfully went with Walter Townshend and Sons for the job. They were very knowledgeable and gave a reasonable quote to fix the combination of problems I was having. It is now working great. I would definitely recommend them to everyone.

I have hired Walter Townshend on two different occasions for two different homes. In the first home i had them install a new gas fireplace insert into an existing fireplace complete with liner, gas line etc. The work was done in a timely, courteous and profesional manner, everything was cleaned up like no one had even been there. after the installation, I was given full instructions on how to operate the unit safely. I hired Walter again to build a new wood burning fireplace in a home that had just undergone an extensive renovation. Again, they arrived as promised, worked professionally and were very tidy, which surprised me as it looks like it could easily be very messy work. In both instances i found their pricing reasonable; their estimates and descriptions of what they needed to do were accurate; they were punctual and friendly. these are qualities which aren't easily found anymore which likely explains why they have been in business for so many years! I would highly recommend Walter Townshend and Sons for any and all fireplace and chimney work.
