It has taken me months to getting around to this review - mostly because I wanted to make sure that no issues would crop up that weren't addressed. We're so glad we went with this company for a number of reasons. Our old East end home had had some electrical upgrades, but there was still k&t on every floor. It was quite miraculous how they managed to do the work with a minimum of fuss and probably the smallest and fewest holes possible, (according to someone who looked at the work and compared it to another job he had seen). Everything was kept neat and tidy, great attention was paid to clean up, holes were patched expertly, the workers were accomodating when we asked for changes - all in all a everything was terrific. Most importantly, their quote was also the best out of four that we had gotten and as a result we literally saved thousands of dollars. Frankly the biggest hassle related to the job was after they left and nothing to do with KNT i.e. having to paint the entire house! We would certainly use knt again.

We had KNT replace all of the knob and tube in our near 100 year old home which was many rooms. It was a big job! Overall, we were satisfied with the service. Bill is friendly, very detailed and transparent with all of the costs so there were no surprises. Everyone worked hard and were courteous. We used them a couple times since then. With an older home that needed a full electrical upgrade Bill came to quote on the job with very little notice and exceeded our timing expectations by pushing up the job by 3 weeks. Bill walked through our house testing every plug and light fixture. He sat down and gave me an overview of the work that needed doing and then followed up with thorough written report. We had 4-5 guys in our house for a week. They made sure our stairs were covered and furniture draped to protect from the plaster dust. They were friendly and considerate. At the end of the job, we were given a new directory for our fuse box and the satisfaction of knowing our wiring would now be safe and approved by our insurance company. Thank you Bill!

Starting from the initial meeting with Bill, all the way through the project, I was impressed. We had knob and tube wiring in unrenovated spaces of our home and Bill's team came in to replace it in a matter of 3 days. There was little disruption to our space, the team kept everything spotless, and they were always polite and friendly. They patched all the holes and left them paint-ready. It was painless.
Bill didn't hesitate to send an electrician back on several occasions as we had built-in cabinetry installed, requiring electrical and cable installation, and to replace light fixtures after the k&t job was complete, all at no additional charge!

After we bought our century-old home in Toronto, one of our first orders of business was to finish updating the knob-and-tube. We got quotes from a few electricians and while KNT Electric's was on the higher end of the spectrum, we were won over by Bill's professionalism and attention to detail. He impressed us by performing a thorough and thoughtful assessment -- walking through every room, taking detailed notes, and asking lots of questions (this was a major contrast with another electrician we invited over, who took a quick look around before declaring he had seen everything he needed to see). Bill promptly provided us with an incredibly detailed quote, with a thorough breakdown of the costs.

Bill and his crew worked quickly and were pleasant to be around, making sure to clean up at the end of every day. Bill was also always available to answer questions by phone or email. I liked how he laid out all of the the worst-case scenarios up front (he says he only wants there to be 'good surprises') and would make helpful suggestions for improvements/fixes without being pushy. Even after Bill completed his job for us, he continued answering my questions by email and even came by a month later to decommission a plug that we later decided to get rid of.

My family recently purchased an old victorian home in parkdale which needed much work. Bill and KNT Electric was the first of the trades I hired. Bill was courteous and thorough in his comments and his quote was detailed which provided clarity. Tim, who led the work, was an effective communicator and always provided thoughtful advice. The work was done efficiently and I will have them back out to complete the electircal work for spaces which are currently being renovated. Easy going but highly professional. KNT Electric replaced the knob and tube electrical wiring in my century home located in Toronto's Little Italy. When we bought our house, we knew we had to replace all the knob and tube within a very specific period of time. After several quotes, we found KNT on homestars and Bill left us with a great impression and a very competitive quote for an ESA-certified, end-to-end electrical upgrade.
He really knows the older homes in Toronto, and he was well organized, transparent and very detailed in his report.
He helped us make the initial plan which included new pot lights and other installations, and allowed us to make adjustments along the way while keeping the plan and costs very clear in a spreadsheet. His team protected the hardwood, executed the job within a week, and he even brought extra people on the weekend to accommodate our schedule.
There were no hidden costs or unforeseen situations, Bill was transparent, offered solid advice, and he stuck to the plan. At the start of the job they protected all the furniture and floors, and at the end of every day his team cleaned up after themselves. They patched the holes, and matched the patterns in the lath and plaster leaving it ready to paint.
He was relaxed about closing the project and advised us to live in the house for a few days in case there were any corrections or changes needed. We greatly appreciated this advice, and we called him back for a final correction which was promptly addressed and we were left with a pleasant home and a painless experience.
