Movers

This is the WORST moving company I have ever used. Do not hire them, you will regret it. They might be one of the cheapest, but there is a reason for that. The staff are unprofessional, and the owner is the rudest , most arrogant man I have ever dealt with on the phone.

After sending Jim(owner/manager) an email of my problem I waited for over 2 weeks with no response. They were clearly ignoring me. I called and spoke with the owner and he gave me the "brush off" giving me every excuse that you could imagine. The guy was so uneducated and unprofessional that I was shocked at my conversation with him.

He blamed me for everything that went wrong, taking no responsibility for the movers actions. He called his own staff "stupid" made references to his problems with female customers and constantly swore on the phone, and had a threatening tone to his voice. As shocking as it sounds, this company is the WORST I have ever dealt with. The owner laughed at me on the phone when I asked them if they were bonded, saying that no insurance company would cover any of my costs.

After dealing with his swearing and bad behavior on the phone his solution was for me to go get estimates on my ripped coach using the cheapest one around $20 for the fabric to fix my coach. He wanted me to do all the work , send him emails and estimates for my ripped coach, so he could maybe cover me for $20. YES, you heard right what a joke! He also said that he would only cover this small cost if and after he talked with the movers in question and if he believed my story over theirs. Yes, once again you heard right. This company is so badly run and their customer service is horrible.

Below is my email I sent to the company:

Hello Jim,

I used your moving company twice in the last month. The first time was in the middle of November and the second at the end of November. I was recommended to your moving company by a few friends and spent close to $1600-1650 on both the moves. The first time I used your moving company everything went well. The two movers that showed up at my apartment were thorough, professional and took care of my stuff. They wrapped up all my furniture including my couch in plastic. They wrapped up all my paintings, valuables, took care of my plants, etc.

However, the second time did not go as well. I paid more for my second move and I was under a lot of stress to move a second time in less than a month. I am not complaining about the price, but I am complaining for the lack of care for my stuff. I spoke with Raoul on the phone numerous times when I called to book my second appointment. I told Raoul that I wanted mattress covers and was prepared to pay for them. The mattress covers never came even though I talked to Mark on the phone that morning(the day of the move) and I told him that I wanted the mattress covers. He gave me a long-winded explanation that he was trying to save me money, etc. etc. I told him that it was not his call to make.

The worst thing was the damage to my couch. The two movers never wrapped up my couch the second time which would have protected it when they brought into my new apartment. Yes, my couch was challenging as the elevator was too small and the two movers had to carry it up the stairs. However, I don't believe for a second that had they wrapped up my couch, like they did the first time, that this would have not protected my couch significantly. My friend that recommended me to your company was there for the first move and he saw the care that the movers used including wrapping my couch up in plastic. Nothing was damaged the first time, but the second time the fabric on the couch was ripped in all the corners and I have found other nicks on the rest of my furniture. The nicks I can live with, but the damage to my couch is noticeable and really bothers me. The couch was delivered to me by the Urban Brick and was practically brand new without any tears or damage. The Brick delivered my couch wrapped in plastic as did your movers the first time and up until this point my couch was brand new.

I would expect some sort of compensation for my couch since your moving company is insured/bonded and handles these sort of things. This is clearly advertised on your website.

I will be satisfied if I am compensated for my couch. Helping a customer who is not satisfied can only help your company's image in the future.

I look forward to your response as soon as you have time.

Thank you,

Chris Poulos

I was happy with the service provided by Budget City Movers. I have had terrible moving experiences in the past so it was a nice change to actually have a mover that knew what they were doing. The guys showed up and were super professional, shook my hand and took me through a play by play about what was going to happen. Then they executed a great move, with no issues!! They were friendly, I actually enjoyed my move?!?! if that is even possible... The final bill was a little bit more than th estimate I was orginally given but I expected it because there was an issue with the couch fitting into the elevator, so it took half an hour longer. I definitely recommend Budget City Movers it was by far the best move I have had...

I usually move once a year and decided to hire a company this time. Budget City were the ones I chose. In a nutshell, Awesome job - friendly, professional and stress free, from booking it to the crew: Dwayne, Lease & Mike. We had a few laughs but everything went fast and well. I will use them again when I get tired of this plce. THANKS Budget!!

DO NOT HIRE THESE MOVERS

Dispatch was friendly and mentioned continuously that they had 30 years of experience, however, they underestimated my move by 50% after giving them all the details. I recommend anyone who has a house that is 3 bedrooms and over to go with a company that has the proper equipment. With their 7 ton truck, which is not adequate for larger moves at all, they thought they could do my house in one day with one truckload, this turned out to be double at 2 truck loads and 2 days! This cost me 2,000 dollars more than I anticipated!!

I am not entirely sure why this company has moving insurance. They make you sign your life away before moving basically giving them free reign to do anything with your belongings. 5 of my items were damaged and half of it was due to careless handling not even in the actual truck moving from A to B. One mover actually displayed unsafe work ethics by holding my tall very heavy shelf on a sloped driveway with one hand and lost control of it in front of me, he broke the leg of the shelf, thank goodness it did not fall on a car or even worse a person.

After witnessing the damage to it all, the guy kept saying we will handle it we will handle it, but after talking to the owner to get reimbursed for my items at first he was ok with helping come up with a solution, however, after a couple days they seemed to get out of it completely. What a disaster.

I would recommend to anyone to pay more to get a better quality company to move your belongings. Especially company moves, there are a lot better companies out there.

Professional Movers

The movers at Budget City did an excellent job with my families move in the Lower Mainland. We would not hesitate to recommend or use their services again. They were on-time, quick, courteous and very helpful when it came to re-arranging our furniture in our new home. We couldn't ask for a better move.

Moving

We moved from a studio apartment (west end) to a one bedroom (Kits). We had only a bed and two couches. No dresser, no dining table - real bare to minimum furniture. They quoted us $400......we were billed $800.
The movers took their time - many cigarette breaks. Took FOREVER to get from place to place, and we (two young women) ended up having to move the heavy furniture at the end of the move as we saw how much this was actually going to cost us to expedite the process.
I followed up with the company after to share my disappoint - no one cared. No one called. All they want to do is get your money and as much of it as possible.
BUYER PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BEWARE!!!!!!

Company Response

We apologize that you are not satisfied with your move. We always try hard to fair in our service, our pricing, and our handling of complaints.

We would like to hear what you have to say! We are sorry you did not get through to us the first time.

There are a number of reasons why a move can take longer. there are many unknown variables that can increase the time it takes to move that are out of our control. The estimate given to you is just that an estimate. We do let all our customer know that it is an estimate only and the final bill will reflect the hours logged. To address the movers "taking their time" I would like to assure you that all of our employees are strong fit and professionally trained, most of whom are students. The two men that were on your move are both hard working and have told me that they did their job to the best of their ability. I would like to point out that it is part of canadian law that employees have to take a break every 2 hour for 15 minutes.
If there anything else that we can help you with please give me a a call at 778 340 6683
