Hot water wouldn't turn off, Rapid Rooter came to fix it

WORSE SERVICE and most expensive. Rapid Rooter failed to mention that they don't give detailed billing and everything was flat rate. I felt taken avantage of. For the price I paid I could have redone half of my bathroom. When I called head office they really could have cared less. Basically what is done was done and I am still waiting to see why the charge was so much. The original quote was $400 and paid over $1500. AVOID USING THEM AT ALL COSTS. Not worth the work they did.

Drains instalment for bathroom

For several months I had difficulty in finding the best quality service to install drains for my bathroom. Luckily, a neighbour directed me to rapid rooter. With their expertise and fast service, I was able to put my house up for sale in a matter of weeks. I definitely recommend to check out rapid rooter on 1-24 Ronson Dr. Etobicoke

Clogged Basement Drain

DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE IN YOUR HOME. Had sewage backing-up into shower on weekend. Now that we know, should have called the city first since this is a main drain line to the sewer issue. Looked in Yellow Pages and found Service Rooter (this is a trademark and not company name so not listed in BBB or Homestars - the company name is Rapid Rooter (not indicated in Yellow Pages)). Published website in Yellow Pages www.plumber.ca does not work. BBB has warnings against this company based on many many unresolved complaints and court actions against them. All this was found out after-the-fact when we started to feel we had been ripped-off. We couldn't find clean-out in basement so we had to pay extra to remove toilet and rooter work done from there - so far expensive $700 but all agreed to and they appeared professional. I had signed paperwork at original quoted price which was approximately $600 but without toilet removal. Multiple revisions and cross-outs later, prices ballooned and were different than verbally given. They quoted prices out of a binder with what were made out to appear like Government of Ontario rate tables giving credibility to their exhorbinant prices - we questioned what the prices were and were told they are the going rates. After they cleared the drain, they asked us if we wanted to see where the problem was coming from by them doing a video for an extra $350. We wanted to know so we agreed. The plumber showed me the video and that it was roots and explained we had PVC pipe connected to clay pipe and that the roots were growing in the clay pipe. Note he didn't give us a copy of what we viewed on screen. He then asked if we wanted him to locate the problem and this would be another $350 but he wasn't going to charge us whether or not we went with them for excavation and repair. He located problem with some device and marked location. I wanted to know if it was on city property or my property. He said the city's responsibility was at the curb which was completely and totally false ((we had city come in after and not only is there no clay pipe - it's all pvc, the property line is well up our lawn and right by the start of the problem area). They quoted us $7200 + tax for excavation and replacement of clay pipe with up to 12 feet of pvc and said all the work he had done plus $700 repair to a toilet flange would be covered in the $7200 fee. He said it would be a $1200 deposit. He then went off to write everything up. Quite a while later he came back - I was preoccupied with work and presented two credit card bills - one for the deposit (oddly with taxes on it) and the other for the charges. I hadn't done the math in my head and he had withheld the quote paperwork until I had signed the credit card receipts (I had confused the deposit one with the charges one so hadn't realized that he charged over $500 for the video (verbally $350) and charged for the location which he said would be free. After they left, I got around to reviewing the paperwork and realized the discrepencies. We called them twice to indicate to hold off doing the excavation based on the property line issue and we wanted out deposit back. They said the technician would have to call us (the people on the phone indicated they were just an answering service which may be the case part of the time but I'm skeptical it's all the time). The technician never called back and we are out of pocket for $3300 for what the city would have done for about $550 given that we ultimately only had the rootering and video and location done.

Replaced trap under kitchen sink

What a rip off. Job took 1 hour and parts were probably $20. If it weren't because of the rush we were in I would have kicked the guy out. How do these people sleep at night?

burst pipe

We had just arrived in Canada and a pipe burst in our garage. we found Rapid Rooter in the phone book who they came out, replace a foot of copper pipe in 30min and charged us $660. We wrote to them about this ridiculous charge and were told that $660 was the flat rate for that job type. They prey on the disadvantaged. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!

toilet continuously running

my 82 year old mother called the Hamilton location out of the phone book. she told them that her toilet was continuously running but it was not an emergency cause it wasn't overflowing. they said it would be $129 to come out plus parts as it was a weekend. they showed up 5 hours late, replaced a $14 toilet kit in less than an hour, told her they saved her over $200, and billed her $707.83. when i called them they said that they were told it was an emergency and that was a $450 charge on its own. when I said that she was told $129 for the service call they said that this was not true and refused to discuss the matter further.

Bathroom leak - not fixed, taps taken.

Rapid Rooter came in to apparently "fix" a leaking faucet and do some tub repair at my (very trusting) parents' house. After an hour or so, they stated that the work was completed and charged them $1,200. Not only did they not do ANYTHING, they took gold taps out of the bathroom that were previously purchased at Ginger's for quite a bit of money. When we tried to contact them, (with a lawyer's help) the receptionist was immediately suspicious and said they didn't have a fax machine or a working email. When we talked to the supposed manager on the telephone, he was absolutely abusive, and, quite frankly, frightening on the telephone. Unfortunately they seem to prey on seniors who think that they are calling Roto-Rooter, and they have very easy-to-read, bold ads in the yellow pages. WARN YOUR PARENTS AND STAY AWAY. THIS IS NOT A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS.

Fix pin prick leak in small pipe

Fraudsters!
Charged me 600 for one hours work and I had to help. They took 7 hours to come and if I had said no to the fee they would have charged me 150 anyway.
I believe they prey on older people and people who have an emergency.
They should not be allowed to advertise on yellow pages.

Leaky bathroom tub fawcet

BEWARE OF THIS FRAUDSTER. I complained to the BBB & was told that Rapid Rooter is blacklisted. I called Rapid Rooter to have a leaky bathroom fawcet fixed. The service guy came in, in about 5 minutes gave me an estimate of $550 to replace a cartridge (when all it took me later to have it fixed was a rubber seal). I was aghast & told him that this was a not right. He then told me that he would give me a seniors discount of $50 or $100 (can't remember). He seemed thoroughly inept and moreover rather suspicious & unfortunately I did not keep an eye on him). I told him no thanks. These people are not proper repair people, just there to come in and make a quick buck out of the service charge. Easy way to make money! I had to fork out $110.00 for absolutely nothing. BEWARE OF THEM, DO NOT LET THEM IN.
