After obtaining quotes for all of the "Big Boys", I called Convertible Air. I found out about them from a flier in my local newspaper. They were able to give me a quote over the phone and their price was nearly half the price I was getting from other contractors. I asked Sam why their price was so low. He told me that July is typically a slow month so every year they have this sale. He told me that he's only making a few hundred dollars off of each install. This way he can keep his crew busy and he doesn't have to let anybody go. He said he has a good group of guys working for him and he doesn't want to lose any of them. We agreed and I price over the phone, I even got a discount on a humidifier, and set an installation date.
On the morning of the installation date, I received a call from Dieter letting me know what he would be there in 30 minutes or so. He was prompt and polite and got right to work. I just showed him where the electrical panel, furnace, and air conditioner were and left him to it. He re-graded the ground where the old A/C was and laid a new patio stone. He had to work some of his magic to get the humidifier to fit properly, but he did it! After he cleaned up, Dieter gave me a tutorial on how to operate my new equipment.
All-in-all it was a very pleasant experience and I am going to call on them again when it's time to get my ducts cleaned.
