I had to rebuild a large and long old retaining wall that was falling apart on my property. After obtaining some absurdly high quotes from some of the top reviewed concrete/foundation workers on homestars and interviewing a few other contractors who although had lower prices I didn't have confidence, I came across Nick's company doing some internet research. I have done multiple renovations on a few properties and I can say with utmost confidence Nick is the best contractor in his field and work is outstanding. When first meeting him I felt totally confident in his abilities in working with concrete. He is extremely knowledgeable, I was immediately impressed on how he would be building my retaining wall and put my mind at rest that his finished product would last a lifetime. As he was working on the wall he kept me informed on the deficiencies of the old wall, and his solutions on ensuring how the new wall will be sound. As he was building my wall I realized he also fixes leaky basement foundations - An ongoing 7 year problem that was not fixed after dropping a huge sum of money to previous foundation repair specialist that didn't honour his warranty; Nick quickly was able to diagnose why the initial waterproofing didn't work and fixed my leaky basement - it has been bone-dry since. Lastly, I had him replace my crumbling asphalt driveway with a concrete one that will last decades.
His final product of retaining wall/driveway/leaky basement looks amazing. He is pleasant, extremely knowledgeable, his time frame in completing work excellent, his work is thorough and his workmanship outstanding. He will easily provide you with options and opinions/pricing on each option, and he will listen and respond to any ongoing requests and questions you may have. I already have some further projects arranged with him in the near future.
Having lots of experience with previous contractors, he is highly recommended - I would rate him an '11' if it were possible on this website.

I called a few companies for quotes and felt that either their prices were too high or that they wanted to cut corners. I was stressed. I thought I'd never find a good contractor. Upon meeting with Nick I knew he was different. He was knowledgeable but was willing to listen to my ideas. His time management is excellent. He started and finished the project when he said he would. I am very happy with my decision of hiring Solo Construction. Not only do I recommend Solo Construction but I will definitely hire them again for future renovations.

After shopping and getting quotes from 4 companies, Nick at Solo was the most professional, knowledgable, cooperative, attentive and willing to work with me as part of a larger reno for my rental house. His work was for a new walkout basement concrete stair - but he first demolished by existing poorly-built concrete stair and rotated it 90 degrees to allow better access and improve drainage. I needed him to work quickly and he was done in 3.5 days, including the demolition and entirely new stair. He also helped me find both a reasonable and responsive Stucco guy and Railings guy (separately) so we could finish the job.

Really appreciate the work and flexibility Nick, and great customer service, which is hard to find. I will certainly recommend you to others and call you again for any other concrete needs.

This is the second time I've hired Nick to do construction work on my family's home. The first time - several years ago - he applied new parging on a newly built foundation wall. Since then, the parging has kept perfectly in tact - no cracks, discoloration, etc. This year, we had called up Nick and his crew to excavate and pour a 9'x12' concrete slab on grade, with foundation walls, for a brick shed. Again, we have had the same positive experience as the last. I had several specific requests for the work to be done a certain way - he was very accommodating and gave an honest opinion of what he recommends should and shouldn't be done, while at the same time not being pushy. He gave me time to make decisions without being pressured, which helped to instill trust. When they showed up to do the work - on the day and during the timeframe they had initially promised - they were quick, efficient, their craftsmanship was great, they were pleasant to deal with and they did not leave any mess behind. They had constructed the foundation above and beyond what that needed to be done (ie. poured thicker footings, thicker slab, added concrete sealer, insulation, etc.), but for the same price as what other contractors had bid for minimal work. We couldn't have asked for more. If you need concrete work done, and are looking for a trustworthy contractor, give Nick a call.

Around a month and half ago I hired a company for a side entrance to basement project and of course with required permit. Those people convinced me that they are able to do this big project, although I do renovation for living and have interior renovation experience but I had no experience about this project.
After a few days I realized A-these people do not have experience for this project. B- They don’t have proper tools to complete it. I overpaid them at that section and guess what they never show up….
I was really frustrated because there was a large hole beside my house full of water and my neighbor was not happy.
I found Nick on Home Stars, he came on time to see the job, the first moment he started to talk and observed the project, and I noticed he knows all the scopes of the work and difficulties. He came up with a reasonable price and was able to start the job very fast.
He and other two people of his crew came every day on time and finished the whole project in less than seven days. He never asked for payment till he finished and complete the work. They are running a family business and his father is in this business many years when Nick is born to do outside works and concrete work. He was my here that time. I am really happy with his work and personality and will recommend him to my customers.

This company replaced an old retaining wall at the front of our house and did a fantastic job. They were professional, polite, always on time, and cleaned up the area nicely at the end of each day. Really happy with how the wall turned out and would definitely recommend them to anyone!

Nick and his team did an excellent job and the new walkways look great. Nick and his workers are very friendly and courteous and very professional. When I bought this house last year,the retaining wall to basement entrance had already had long cracks. It looks like that
the previous owner had given the job to a contactor that had done a very poor job and after 2-3 years,the wall started to crack.
During last fall and winter,the water was oozing throgh the wall and the crack was expanding.

I decided to contact some contactors and after interviewing 5-6 contractors, I chose Nick and his company,solo.
The first thing that I liked was the fact that he answered all of my questions and concerns over the phone. I asked him
to come and see the project. He came and explained exactly what he would do for me and howlong it would take.

When he started the job, he arrived every day in the morning and unlike other contractors that get the job and leave it to their
crew,he was always there with them.
I was there with him everyday and checked his job 2-3 times a day and got photos. He was very thorough in his job and I asked many questions.
He demolished the existing wall and stairs, remove the soil, made a new footing ,make a nice frame for new wall, poured new concrete in the frame and then
made brand new stairs. All done professionally.
He did exactly what he promised and did a great job.
