Great Experience

I am a bit surprised with old reviews for Toronto Van Lines. For my family and I, the whole experience was fantastic from in home estimate to the day of the move. The staff arrived on time and introduced themselves. we did a quick walk through and the process began. They worked efficiently and with care for our home and belongings. The staff was very friendly and went the extra mile. The whole process from start to finish was quicker than expected, and for sure their price is right. I do recommend this company for moving.

NIGHTMARE - RUN, THEY DAMAGED MANY EXPENSIVE PIECES OF FURNITURE, ETC.

I knew that written estimates were key to a good move, so I got them. Unfortunately for me, I had NO idea that there was a website like this where you could read moving reviews. Boy I wish I did know!

Unfortunately, the estimate was completely inaccurate. Ana the Estimator provided a very low estimate. The actual was 50% higher. I called ANA, before hiring them, to ask why their estimate was lower than others I received, as I was concerned. Ana told me "I put my twenty plus years of experience up and I am completely confident in the estimate provided". Shameful.

They appear to have only one size of truck.

Ana made a LOT of promises. NONE came true. She became quickly unavailable. Made excuses that "she had no power to do anything", etc.

I sold many very large items prior to the move, including a double sofa bed in the basement, a very large bbq, a Double bed in the spare bedroom, My "universal gym", a Body Vibration Machine, 5 boxes of hard cover books, many smaller appliances, (ice cream maker, rotisserie electric oven, many others, etc.

When they arrived, I had about 5 boxes left to pack. When they were (finally) nearly done, I had to pack up the items in my freezer, since they wouldn't move it with anything in it.

Almost all of the expensive cherry and other wood furniture was scratched, chipped or damaged in some way. My $900 Paradigm speakers were both damaged and chipped.

My $250 plus DVD Shelf was torn apart because they claimed it wouldn't fit through the door, although they never tried. When they put it back together a week later, they walked all over the backing of it.

A hand painted porcelain chandelier, wiring damaged/broken. WIll need to be rewired. 2 pieces of chandelier were broken.

They also left items behind, and did not ask me to do a walk through. THey left an expenisve canister vaccum, at least one box of items, my desk, 2 curtains with rod, an artist hand painted mirror, etc. I am now missing several pieces of my Noritake china set. They left these items behind without my permission. I was very tired, which they knew. They did NOT ask me to do a walk through of the house. It had been many years since I had last moved an d it never occurred to me. That's why you hire movers, right?

All I wanted was the damage repaired by furniture and electrical fixture professionals, under their insurance policy, which they say that they have. I have been forced to sue them, since they refuse to repair any of the damages.

They continue to threaten to sue me.

They have made multiple false statements to the court.

I have a lot of high quality cherry and other furniture. Almost all has been damaged in some way.

They will threaten to sue you if you post a negative review.

They have threatened me multiple times.

The government needs to get involved immediately.

ONE OF THE WORST MOVING COMPANIES

This company could make the moving one the worst experience in your life. Their firSt estimation was $872 after tax(including 7 hours work+1 hour travel time+ $75 fuel cost). but I ended up paying $1322(51% more than estimation). They finished the work in 10 hours instead of 7 hours. They killed a lot of time by smoking, lunch, etc. They also wasted a lot of time to move my sofa into the apartment, but I finally asked them to return the sofa to downstairs and put it in the garbage bin to prevent them from killing the time and charging me more. It is necessary to mention that in the next day another moving company moved a sofa with the same size as mine into another apartment with the same entrance door in the same building easily. Also at the end of moving and as I told them that I won't pay any more, they stocked all the boxes in living area and left us alone in the middle of boxes all mixed together in living area.

Move

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! TORONTO VAN LINES - USES TWO ADDRESSES, ONE ON THEIR BUSINESS CARD AND ANOTHER ON THE NET (251 HOLLYWOOD AVE, NORTH YORK, ON M2N 3K8) BOTH WITH SAME TEL #416-316-2316. JUNE 29, QUOTED 12 HOURS FOR OUR MOVE IN AUGUST - STATING THAT HARDLY EVER OVER 10% WRONG. ACTUAL MOVE BILLED 21 HOURS EVEN THOUGH WE MOVED OUR COMPLETE KITCHEN AND ALL OUR CLOTHES OURSELVES WHICH WERE SUPPOSED TO BE PART OF THE MOVE. AFTER DEPOSIT HAD TROUBLE GETTING CALLS RETURNED. DID NOT SUPPLY ADEQUATE PROMISED BUBBLE WRAP FOR PICTURES- TOOK NUMEROUS CALLS DID GET ENOUGH FOR 4 OF 40 PICTURES. DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT BLANKETS OR LARGE ENOUGH TRUCK. DRIVER SAT IN TRUCK FOR ABOUT 25% OF TIME AND DID NOT WORK - HE WAS VERY EFFICIENT WHEN HE WORKED. NEEDED TO USE OUR TOOLS AND STEP STOOL AND THEN LEFT STOOL AT ORIGINATING HOME. ADDED 30 MINUTES TO THEIR TIMESHEET AFTER WE SIGNED OFF AT END. HELD FURNITURE HOSTAGE UNTIL WE PAID. NEXT DAY SAID THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE AND GET BACK TO US - UNABLE TO REACH THEM AND THEY HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY NOT RETURNED CALLS FOR OVER A WEEK. THERE WERE COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB SITE - WHEN WE QUESTIONED THEM, WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE FROM A DISGRUNTLED EMPLOYEE, HOWEVER THEY WERE TRUE TO WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. OVERALL, A DISASTROUS MOVING EXPERIENCE AND A MOST UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY

Moving

I promised to give my feedback on service I’ve got from Toronto van lines Moving yesterday. So, I give you guys my 8 out of 10 points! I called this company to get an estimate and ended up with taking the full service package, because it sounded just great and so affordable. Three movers moved us without problems. I am so happy with their service and rate ! They showed up on time and finished on time ! No headaches, no rush, no fuss and no damages. And I am happy that I found a reliable mover, it is 90% of the success, I think. So, thank you guys and best of luck to your business!

moving company

My wife and I hired this company after receiving a few quotes from other moving companies. we gave them a $200 deposit on my wife's credit card.Let me also state that my wife was 6 months pregnant at the time and we have 2 other children under the age of 4. They were fair in pricing but not the cheapest. Ana the sales rep was pleasant but it all started with her false promises, she said on several occasions that she would provide boxes and bubble wrap for our move but always made excuses as to why she never could never come out...this should have been the first sign as to why I should have never hired this company. On the actual day of moving, the movers showed up a little late, at around 1230pm, they were suppose to be there at 1130am, but not that made much of a difference. The real issue was that they did not fit everything in the truck they provided. So after spending 5 hours loading the truck and realizing that not everything would fit and furniture still in my house, this is when the poor customer service started. the manager was called and I was told that if I wanted all of my furniture moved, they would send another truck the next day to pick up the rest of the furniture, but the catch is I would have to pay for another truck and 2 more guys. WHERE IS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE???? Whoever estimated the job miscalculated the size of the truck needed and somehow that was my fault and I needed to pay more for it. So I ended up going to rent my own truck the next day and moving the balance of the furniture myself, thankfully the buyers of my house allowed me to store the remaining furniture in the garage so i could pick it up the next day.

Let me get to the best part of this entire transaction. So the 4 movers finally get to my new house to start unloading, (now it's 6pm) and everything is going somewhat smooth until the lead mover(driver) hands me an invoice at 8pm and saying they'll be done at 10pm and I need to pay now, I immediately say 'well lets wait until your finished and we can check the time then" and I'll pay what I owe based on our contract and time. I also notice that his invoice is much different that my invoice. His invoice showed a lot more charges than my copy, well this is when it got really ugly. The lead mover calls his manager, manager tells lead mover to lock the truck and hold my furniture until I pay and that the manager is coming to my house with the police and to wait until he gets there. Bill the manager arrives at my house at 1030pm with the police and the first thing the police say to the movers is "unlock your truck and unload the furniture, if you dont I will charge you all with theft. Needless to say, the movers quickly unloaded the furniture and finished the job. I agreed to pay the balance in cash to Bill the manager which I did and had the police witness this as well and noted on his invoice that this is full and final payment. The next day my wife's credit card was charged an additional $500.00 without her consent. This company had the nerve to charge her credit card without authorization which lead us to have to contact visa to reverse the charge. They tried charging her again a few weeks ago and we had to cancel our cards altogether....what a nightmare this was. The 4 movers were actually ok, but Ana and Bill the manager were horrible to deal with. Bill was very rude and patronizing to my wife and I and even rude to his own employees and in my opinion even disrespected the police when they were at my house. All in all I would never recommend this company to anyone. Beware of using these people with your possessions as this is company that will rip you off and hold your possessions as ransom. Remember, it is against the law for a moving company to hold your property, my advice would be to call the police immediately.

Moving Company

Toronto Van Lines is not at all customer focussed. Once the deposit is received they do not respond to customer calls. They arrived with inadequate supplies and then had to wrap furniture in plastic. This and other factors resulting in the actual time and cost being almost double the quote. As noted in other reviews, the driver then hold furniture in his van until the full amount is paid, including time for long lunch breaks and frequent rest breaks and the driver sitting in his truck for much of the time - it is almost like blackmail. This company adds significantly to the stress of a move. I would not recommend that anyone use them. Our experience was so similar to many of the other bad reviews!
