We found the company through a search here. Danny from Roofs on Homes climbed and inspected the roof then took time to explain in details what work would be performed to replace the shingles and recommendation to install additional features to lower the risk of ice buildup and have better ventilation to keep the house cooler in the summer. He also recommended a new and better skylight with double panes inert gas insulation to replace the 15 years old skylight which did not have insulation. On inspecting the roof Danny discovered that the chimney would need repair work and took pictures to show where the damages were.
The same day after evaluating the condition of the roof Danny emailed two proposals that reflected the standard replacement work and the higher level longer warranty work. Each proposal had a detailed breakdown of the work and the material used, along with background info about the material. The company only uses the best quality shingles and other components like vents. A second roofer who gave us another quote also cited the same brand of shingle and vent. Danny would provide further clarification on any question promptly. The quote from Danny was very reasonable, in fact much better than the second quote that offered to use the same material.
Crew members are experienced roofers and have worked together for years. The team aims to complete the roof work on the same day, for our roof 8am to 6:30pm. The crew did an excellent job cleaning the debris, using a magnetic broom to pick up metallic bits. One crew member stayed extra late till fading twilight and carefully checked for remaining debris. The crew also helped moved heavy flower pots away from the house then back to their original locations.
Two neighbours commented that the new roof looked very good.
During the installation of the new skylight there was a small accident that caused a puncture about the size of a quarter on the drywall below the skylight near the floor. We discovered the puncture after the crew left and notified Danny. The project manager came by three days later on a Sunday morning to patch the crack and apply new paint.
This company is highly recommended.
