Custom window screen

When we re-did our kitchen we had a custom window out in. Removing the screen to clean the window, the frame bent and could not be reused. Home Depot and Lowes dont carry the right size. I thought it was going to be difficult and expensive to get a new one.

I called CWD and they were incredibly helpful. Service was excellent and a new screen made same day. Based on the size of the frame, they suggested and added a reinforcing support and tabs for easy installation. No additional cost!

Communication issues, disorganized service

Called office to follow up on why delayed contact by tech to measure for window order, I noticed wrong contact phone number recorded by sales rep on my order form, I informed their office and they said they will update info. This was not done and lead to further delays. On day of install the installer was 4.5 hours late for job without communication until I had to reach out to office find out what was going on. No discount offered as acknowledgment of poor service. Avoid.

Front door

Horrible!!!! They had installed a dented door jam and came back to replace that piece ..upon replacing it, the man used a nail gun and dented it again. Couldn’t take another day off work and no compensation provided. They don’t care about their horrible workmanship. Used a zillion nails …claimed the door was uneven but didn’t fill the holes…they claim they don’t do that…but when I met the lady and ordered the door she said the door was done from top to bottom and I didn’t have to do a thing! Glad I’m not a senior and was able to solve this terrible state they left for me! The amount spent on this door for what I got was horrific. Please…buyer beware. Go elsewhere….anywhere else!

Product - 3 stars/ Customer Service - 0 stars - issue unresolved...... see screenshots below - they speak for themselves

Ordered 2 windows and two doors on Oct 10/20 from Canada Windows and Doors. We were contacted by the company on Dec 9/20 to inform us of a delay for the install and that there was a mix up with the window order. Okay, we understood.

Install took place on Jan 20/21. There were some issues such as a bubble on the outside front window in the insulation trim, the wood trim had not been put back, a 1 inch gap at the bottom of the side door (in January) and our dissatisfaction with the caulking job around the doors.
We contacted Pierrette who told us to pop out the bubble ourselves which we did not want to do for fear of damaging the window. As for the gap at the side door, we dealt with this by stuffing a towel in the gap to keep critters and cold out. Not ideal in January into February. It was also not pleasant to look at the red tape due to the trim not being put back in place.

Pierrette sent James out (Feb 8/21, almost 2 1/2 weeks after) to put back the trim and in some cases new trim had to be cut and put up. James did a good job with the trim. The side door gap was a simple adjustment and the bubble was dealt with by James. James agreed with us that a better job could have been done on the caulking and we set up an appointment with Pierrette to have James return in the spring, in warmer weather, to repair the caulking. We had an appointment set up for Apr 29/21. We made arrangements to take time off from work to be available for the appointment. James did not show up or contact us on the morning of and only after a call to Pierrette did she inform us that James would not be coming out due to the current pandemic lock-down and that the appointment would need to be rescheduled.

In July 2021 we contacted Pierrette by telephone and email to reschedule. She claims she did not know what the problem was and asked “how can I help you?” - as if there was no problem. I had to refresh her memory of our cancelled appointment and she insisted on us providing pictures (even though we had previously brought pictures to the office in person – which she claims she did not have). I emailed the pictures on July 15/21. Her response was that “James took care of all of all the issues you pointed out in your pictures shortly after your install, what else is there? The caulking around the door looks fine. A dark colour against white is never going to be perfect. If perfections what you’re looking for, it’s not gonna happen. I’m not going to send James to do a service to caulk a door that’s already caulked. It’s not a sloppy job.” By email in response of July 19/21, I asked Pierrette for a cell phone where I could text the pictures and she provided one to me. I re-sent the pics to Pierrette by text (see attached screenshots) you can see from her response that she still claimed it was not a sloppy job and she will not send James out to take apart the caulking and redo it. I believe the pics speak for themselves. I had even suggested that James not take the caulking apart but just go over it to smooth out the flaws, thumb imprints and to straighten out the lines. Pierrette did not respond. After contacting her again in August, her response was that she would not send James “out to redo your caulking – it’s not a sloppy job. I will not revisit this conversation again.” and has not responded to any of my further follow up emails where I indicate how disappointed we are and that we will now join the others online and submit our reviews. Because of the poor customer service we received from Pierrette, we cannot recommend the services of Canada Windows and Doors. We had previously had a window replaced by Brock Windows – we are quite satisfied with the product and the service. As well, we have friends who have had excellent service with Canadian Choice Windows. Unfortunately, we cannot say the same for Canada Windows and Doors. Windows and Doors.

Full home window replacement

After replacing half the windows in my home, I was so happy with them, that I replaced all the rest of the windows. And at this time of COVID, with so many delays in the materials for construction, Canada Windows and Doors did their best to facilitate delivery. Pierette and her team were professional and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend Canada Windows and Doors, and supporting local business.
Thank you for improving my view!

Installation of 2 doors and one window.

Never use this company. Their contractors destroyed the brick on my 120 year old home, did not add 2 lintels, left the place a mess, missing weather stripping. Still holding on to final payment and one of the owners has not responded to fixing the work. Get this, he (Pierre) does not do computers. Really, in this day and age. Says he is a man of his word. I'd rather he be a man of his work. Really, find anyone else to do the work.

Worst service on front door and lockset

Purchased a multipoint lockset with a new front door. The door was not installed properly and they refused to send someone to fix it. The lock broke and after 6 months and calling them and harrassing them, they finally sent a part. It was the wrong part. Spoke with Christine the manager and very uncooperative and does seem to care that we can lock our front door. Left 25 messages for the owner over the last 6 months and never returned one call. This has to be the worst company to deal with. Once they get your money, they don't care about service or warranty. I would never recommend this company. I'm surprised they are still in business...

Company Response

Our company sold a door to an independent contractor in November 2013. The homeowner had hired this contractor for their installation without any recommendations from our company or its’ representatives. The multipoint issue they are having is a result of faulty installation and not a manufacturing problem, therefore the independent contractor would be responsible for repairing. The homeowner did contact us in January 2018 requesting a replacement part on the multipoint lock that they had removed. Pictures were sent to our office for clarification and the replacement part was provided and shipped at no charge. The homeowner again contacted us in March 2018, stating that they can get no resolution from their contractor and are still experiencing difficulties with the multipoint. It was explained that we could send a serviceman on-site and cover all charges related to the multipoint (any parts, etc.), however labour charges would be applicable. The homeowner advised us they did not wish to proceed with the service call.

New front door and 2 replacement bedroom windows

I found Oliver the sales rep. to be very knowledgeable and helpfull with helping me choose the best door and replacement windows for a good price and payment plan.

Igor and his crew of installers were very professional, took out old windows and door and replace with new ones cleaning up after themselves and taking old product with them. Also, took care of a potential installation issue --- with one of the bedroom windows being over my Pergola that had a acylic top --- they managed to come up with a solution that allowed them to install the window my putting weight bearing wood over the top so they could stand on.

Very happy and would recommend.
