Re-pointing work and Chimney Rebuild

Trying to get a mason to even show up and quote was extremely hard to do. This is definitely one of those trades where there’s more jobs than skilled workers….word to the wise; plan months ahead of the busy season (spring & fall). Red Robin was one of 3 companies out of 7 that I reached out to that had the decency to return our call and actually show up to quote.
Our house is a historic home in Richmond Hill (eighteen hundreds era), lots of old brick, a masons dream. It’s currently tenanted. I was in no rush to get the work done, just didn’t want to be going into another winter with decaying brick and a falling chimney. My job got bumped a couple times (weather and job delays at other sites). When the work was completed, it was done very quickly. Most areas you can’t even tell the difference between the patch work and old brick and feels very sturdy (I literally had one wall/corner that moved when you kicked it before). They did however miss a few mortar joints and in few places the mortar isn’t matched to the existing color. Dave, the owner, was very responsive. Plans are in the works to address the issues. Their price was competitive to the other 2 quotes and the end product looks to stand the test of time. Taking into account the state of trades these days and the fact that there is owner on the other end who cares, I am very happy with outcome and price we paid.

Approximate cost of services:
$5,500.00
