Electrical cleanup

Moved into an old home and need electrical work done. Dario came and did a knob and tube audit of the entire home and in doing so found some safety concerns. He spent the remainder of the day fixing any issues, even postponing other plans. He was great at explaining what needed doing and why.

Finish up electrical installations

Dario of Villiage Repair Service is very courteous and conscientious in his work. I needed a wide variety of finish up electrical work done as I had done most of the basic wiring myself. Dario arrived promptly everyday and finished a wide variety of electrical installations in a very professional and timely manner. His rates were reasonable and I especially appreciated that he did not nickel and dime me for every marette and piece of tape. I would have no issue with recommending him to any of my friends.

Plumbing

This contractor hooked up our new front loading washer and dryer a few weeks ago. Yesterday other tenants below us found a leak running thru their ceiling. The owner hired a third party plumber, who found out that all the connections were loose and leaking and that the washer was poorly installed. The hot water line was found to be severed without a clean cut and the part was stripped on causing the leak. Also the cold line was not tight.

When the contractor arrived at our house, he claimed that it was not his fault, and it was the parts fault??. He proceeded to blame Home depot, the cold for causing freezing to the pipes, he said we changed our washer, and that we were at fault. At this point, The owner of the house and the third party plumber did not have the confidence that the contractor could do the job properly without causing more damage to the house. So we asked for our money back to pay for 1) the new plumber and 2) the damage done to the other tentnats suite. He said fine, and then jumped in his van to leave.

He told us he would not refund our money and failed to provide his license number of his insurance company for claim purposes.

To be fair, his website does claim that he is an electrician but he does not seem like a plumber by any means. He is definitely not professional, and does not stand by his word that he is insured when situations like this arise. We are sorry that we hired him and would not do it again.

Approximate cost of services:
$200.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
get a proper plumbers license and be accountable for actions. clibming in your car and running away from your problems is not the solution
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
beware! get a contract in writing as well as the "plumbers" license number. guys like this should be banned from doing any more damage to homes without proper training, certification, and responisbilty.
