Room and Hallway carpet installation

We hired Simon's company to install carpet on our renovation project at Canada's largest hotel. I told Simon that he had the worst schedule (shortest time frame)of all our sub-contractors. He was great to work with and flexible when the furniture for the rooms arrived while installing the hallway carpet. He was able to communicate (in my absence) with both the GM and VP of the hotel to help them decide about design issues that arose during installation of hallway carpet. He also brought seaming issues to our attention that the manufacture overlooked and was instrumental in having them rework their seaming plans. His crew was professional and hard working with a friendly disposition. I enjoyed working with Simon and his crew and look forward to working on another project with them. And I would highly recommend them to anyone needing his services. It turned out that of the 9 sub-trades on site, he was one of the 2 that finished on time and one with the least deficiencies. Simon was always accessible and addressed any deficiency in a timely manner. He has developed a reputation at the hotel for being knowledgeable and quality workmanship. Its easy to look good when you have sub-contractors like Simon.

Approximate cost of services:
$50,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
We used to joke with Simon about the time his crew starts, which was about 9:30 AM. The other sub-contractors started at 7:00 AM. Given the conditions of the job and his performance, he can start at 9:30. But we'll still joke about it.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
The question reminds me of the old Fram commercical tag line; "You can pay me now, or you can pay me later". If you want good value for your money, find the right people and pay a fair price. What may be cheap in the beginning may not be such a bargain in the end. Do your research at the beginning and avoid the stress and expense at the end.
