I had our 25 year old driveway gutted and redone in Asphalt with pavers by West York Paving.

Rimo was lovely to deal with, very professional and straightforward. West York does almost all the driveways in our area, I see them everywhere!

Rimo honoured his commitment, and delivered exactly what he said he would. They said they'd pull out the driveway in March and install two months later and that's exactly what they did.

The only reason I knocked off one star is because I was disappointed when I discovered that the new driveway sloped towards the garage a bit. When washing cars, water pools back into the garage. Not a major concern, but other than that, highly recommend.

Late August 2022 called for quote and signed contract.
Early September 2022 old asphalt removed and base laid
Early Nov 2022 pavement done, took one day and looks smooth and professional
Winter 2022/23 my neighbour is upset as there is much ice buildup around his garbage bins and on his sidewalk.
April 2023 weeds are springing up near my house and in some cases through the asphalt.
June 15 today a crew of two came to remove weeds, inject weedkiller and patch/tamp where the weeds grew up so far. I was promised theyd come back and do the same thing if more weeds showed up this summer or next summer. They also tried to mitigate my neighbours concerns about drainage but there is only so much one can do with how water is guided down a sloping street.
In future I would use this company. I would get the process started in June so I wouldnt have to worry about the job getting done before the asphalt plant closed for the winter. I would also know better what kind of timeline to expect for fixes. I have no quarrel with their work. I couldnt say another company would have done a better job. Communication and honest timelines are key.

Remo and team did a great job, on time and at a fair price. Lots of positive comments from neighbours on the finished look. They were recommended to me and I would certainly recommend them and have.

The measure of a good company is how they respond to clients when things dont go as planned under the written contract. West York Paving failed in this measure.

We hired West York Paving to replace the asphalt on our wide mutual driveway in mid-town Toronto. The contract included a specific written guarantee that the grading would slope water away from our house. The work was completed in early August 2021 and after the first heavy rainfall a few weeks later, we noticed that the water was collecting and running off towards our house. This also happened during a second rainstorm.

We called the company to discuss this and followed up by email. Frank (one of the co-owners, we believe) and a worker inspected the asphalt and Frank told us that it was not sloped properly away from the house. In fact, it was sloped to drain water from our neighbours side of the drive onto our side, rather than into the middle of the mutual driveway. Frank told us he would get back to us after he spoke with his brother Joe (also a co-owner, we believe). No one called us back. We later telephoned the company and Joe told us there was no problem with the workmanship and there was nothing they could do. He raised his voice, yelled at us and then hung up on us. West York Paving later failed to respond to our registered letter, in which we requested a refund for failure to honour its contractual guarantee. We have never had a contractor refuse to at least make some effort to remedy their defective work and honour their written guarantee.

We hired another company to completely re-do the work, which involved digging out all the new asphalt. This other company did a great job, used smaller rollers and hand-finished all the asphalt to ensure the asphalt was properly sloped and graded into the middle of the driveway. They took the time to explain to us beforehand the additional steps to consider in order to pave our wide mutual driveway something West York Paving had not bothered to do.

We had an extremely poor experience with a contractor that has no interest in responding to its customers concerns.

West Work Paving is an extremely good and professional company in its field.

They removed the old asphalt by digging out more than 30cm down and placed crushed stones to properly settle and also removed the driveway side curb. Thus, they laid a solid foundation for the asphalt.

We agreed in advance for them when to come back and after two months, when they came, they installed the new curbs, and several days later, they made the paved the driveway by laying two thick layers of asphalt.

The Driveway looks great.

I am impressed with the work of West Work Paving, Joe, Frank and their team. Especially Frank is like a magician - works super professional and quick.
