Not on time, price changed and no warranty

We had a similar experience as Helene in mid-June 2021.

The Reggin work is not on time, poor value and not professional.

Our condo unit experienced a heat pump issue. We called Reggin Technical Services for a repair because we paid them $105 in 2019 for a maintenance of the heat pump. They now said their maintenance does not cover warranty. So a deposit is mandatory.

At this first call, they asked for $150 deposit before the inspection on June 24, 2021. So we gave them the credit card and they took the money right away.

Upon the inspection, they asked for another $500 deposit for the valve replacement including parts and labour. They indicated that they had to order the part which would come in a couple of days. So we gave the OK to proceed.

A week later, there was no updates. We called and they said the part was ordered but not available for another week. And they asked for $1,500 deposit and indicated that they would refund the portion that is not used if the job does not take a long time. We gave the OK to proceed. So they took the money on July 6, 2021.

However, we checked the credit card and learned they charged $1831.35. We were shocked. We called to ask for explanation why the job is bumped up to $ 1,981.35 ($150 + $1831.35). This is a 400% higher from the $500 initial replacement amount.

*** The time taken is now increased from a few days to 3 weeks.

We asked to talk to the owner but we were not given the owner contact.

*** At the end they replaced the valve and the total price went from $500 to $1,397.55, i.e., Initial deposit $150 + replacement deposit 1831.35 - Refund $583.80.

If we knew it would take 3 weeks and $1,397.55 to replace the valve, we would have shopped around and wouldn't commit to Reggin. We hope you wouldn't go to Reggin as your first choice.

If Reggin would like to respond to this feedback, please return the $897.55 to us first. Otherwise your response is not needed.

The job should be within $500 as agreed before the part was ordered on June 24, 2021. The price kept changing is not acceptable.

*** We asked for a warranty written on the invoice but there is no mention of the warranty. This is not professional if the work has no guarantee.

Here is a sharing of my experience. In conclusion, shop around before going to Reggin. Best of luck

I would like to thank you for taking the time to review Reggin Technical Services and to provide further context and information to the readers of your review.

Unfortunately your series of events and statements on the invoicing do not align with what has occurred and the very email string we have on file as to our communications with you.

You were provided a budgetary pricing by staff who attended on the 25th, as you indicated in your email responses and during communications from our staff.

To be clear, communication was as follows

Your approval was given

• June 25th (during attendance by our technician)
o Note: You approved to proceed to order the part for repair

Pricing was given

• July 5th (By our Mechanical Estimator)
o Budget Value
o Note: you approved to proceed

• July 6th (By our Mechanical Estimator)
o Breakdown Pricing of
• Labour
• Parts
o Note: You approved to proceed

Our Deposit Structure was further outlined

• July 7th
o Outlined the deposit structure
o Mechanical Estimator did indicate that due to the valve costing less, a refund would be issued from the original quoted amount.
o Note: Your final invoice was lower than your quoted amount.

Further, while your expectations on timelines were not met they are not a result of delays by R.T.S., rather simply delays in parts arrival. You can appreciate we cannot control the delivery of parts and materials during the pandemic, a known issue in the industry.

I will admit that our staff were confused by your request that you speak to the owner, all those corresponding with you by email believed you were going to take your invoice to your owner of your unit. Any request for escalation of an financial issue within R.T.S. is indeed done so, your file would have been brought to my attention.

I sincerely apologize for the confusion on the requests made, and will continue to reinforce with staff on determining solutions on all inquiries.

Pricing was however clearly outlined and accepted, and all deposits discussed prior, and refunded as necessary
