Once they have your money you're on your own

After my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer, we knew we had to leave our acreage. Friends recommended this ROHIT community because they look after the walks and grass. When you visit the show homes, they are very lovely and the salesman is just that...a salesman and a good one. We purchased the house and everything seemed fine. My husband passed away one month before I got possession so my state of mind was not what you would call normal. One of the first issues was a retaining wall that was cracked. They came to repair it but it was a different color and they only patched it. It looks terrible. When I mentioned it, they said it would dry and blend in. It did not. When I made another inquiry, they said there was nothing they could do cause it was past the year. My patio in the back us cracking badly and there are footprints in it so someone walked on it before it was cured. The facia that runs across the bottom of the house was not done for more than a year. Then they came with a temporary one and asked if the painted color was ok. It wasn't. It was blue and my house was grey but I thought because it was temporary I could live with it until it was replaced. That never happened. The board began splitting, peeling and bulging. When I called them about it and sent photos they said someone would come out. They did and said that was the finished product. I had to get someone in, at my own cost to do a facia board. The parking is falling off the house at the front and the material on the front deck is lifting, with one riser falling off. The retaining wall is crumbling and it is a structure so should be covered. I have sent emails about this and have received no response.
Inside is another story. I replaced my fireplace (my choice) and had to lift the carpet. I needed a little more carpet and underlay. The carpet people said the underlay in my house wasn't available any more because it was so light. He said it was 2 or 4 lb. I paid for 7 lb underlay. I consider that to border on criminal. I've been here exactly four years and my carpets already need to be replaced. There was a terrible squeak in my floor and when I pointed the out at the year end, they said there was nothing they could do about it. When the fellow (not related to rohit) was here for the carpet around the fireplace, he simply peeled it back and put in some nails. There appeared to be a lot of nails missing in the floor joists.
While I was sitting in my living room I noticed that a potlights appeared to be missing over the stairs. I remembered they covered 2 and I noticed them during a walk through. When I moved in, considering I had just lost my husband, pot lights weren't the first thing on my mind. I do know one was uncovered but it was a couple of years before I noticed the second one. When I called, they wouldn't even come to look. I explained my fragile state and begged them to come...nope! Now I'm left wondering if there are live wires buried in my ceiling...nice.
For the most part, the home is lovely and some of my neighbors have had far worse experiences. Some of the workmen I've had in here over the years say they are terrible builders and I have to agree. Bottom line, I would strongly recommend against building with ROHIT.
