Difficult company to deal with

This company is very difficult to deal with. They have no phone manners and truly do not have any customer service edict.
I do not recommend them!!!
The 25 year old tank that was on our property was short time from being unusable, and they charged me $300 to remove it.
Avoid this company.

Propane tanks

I purchased a house with sparlings tanks and I paid for two tanks to be filled up at house closing. They were notified of the house selling. Less than two month later the tanks were filled to 80% capacity again in the name of the old house owner and they shut them off because they were “out of propane”!??! The house was empty with heater set to 15 degrees and it seems extreme to use up two full tanks within 1.5 months.
It was middle of December and if I didn’t come over on weekend I could have my house frozen ( it is a cottage I was not intended to visit it during the winter).
Customer service is terrible. They only have 1-800 number and very hard to reach. Called them several times and was told repeatedly they were too busy to take a call and someone will call me back. Several times took my information but NEVER called.
Finally I was able to reach someone by email and was able to change the ownership information.
However, my problems didn’t end after that.
I am on automated delivery because I do not live there and do not want to end up with the tank to be turned off again and I check them every time I come over.
Today I came to the house and it was 6 degrees inside.
The same story- the tanks were filled up and shut off because they were “out” of propane”.

I complained to the customer service regarding this issue and it seems there is a solution for this - to monitor the propane level remotely. Hopefully this will work out and we will be totally happy with their service.

A quick update. I was told they will take care of it within a week. More than three weeks passed and nothing was done.

Terrible service and completely disorganized

I would not recommend Sparling at all. I have used them for Propane and one of their divisions for a new furnace. The installers were good but the company is COMPLETELY disorganized. I was overcharged on every bill, the fees charged were not the ones quoted by sales, I had accounts cancelled, they installed part of the furnace but not all and said they would be back in 3 months to complete......they left the cold air return open in the interim. Despite not completing the install and not committing a date to complete the install they are pushing for me to pay. Staff are argumentative and abrasive and it takes numerous calls into the company to try and resolve billing issues, cancelled accounts etc. The company is fragmented and completely disorganized....the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. This has been the most frustrating company to deal with and all of the employees have nothing good to say about the parent company.

Propane

When I bought the house Sparlings had a tank here already. They sent me a bill for TSSA tank inspection on a tank that I rented from them. After several complaints I cancelled service. The tank sat on my property for over a year. After several complaints by email and phone the tank was removed without any notice. Then about a week later I get a bill for tank removal.
STAY AWAY many other fuel options

Poor customer service

Very poor service. Sparlings makes me prepay. Not a problem. Sparlings is quick to take my money but not to provide service. It took 3 weeks to get services. Why take money with no service?

New customer

Great job installing tank & hookup. They have been promising for 2 weeks to refill tank. Each time be there in 36 hrs. It is all fake
News & still waiting at 5% full. Rep said get secondary heat source. Would not recommend this company to anyone

out of propane minus 20 dec 14

had to move a vent 3 ft and re paint a 6 inch nipple this summer witch i did and sent pictures now i have been out of propane for 4 hours waiting for reene to phone me back now the supervisor say i have to retake pictures and send to them and wait for someone to ok might take another hour most disorganize company ever

Worst Ever!

Showed up 3 times without notice even though id told them id call.last bill over 380.00..they knocked 100.00 off..again i didnt need fuel!
Over priced..started at 43 a litre..end of winter at 61 a litre..
Will not give new customers a lock in rate..yet other companies will.
Called 3 times for a price this year..could not tell me..
Changed to Budget Propane..new customer..no charges for hook up..new tanks..oh and locked me in at 49.9 a litre..
Called to have tanks picked up..was told Budget will increase their prices after im in..funny last year they were 48.9 litre!
Then had the gall to tell me 100.00 charge to pick up the tanks..oh but id get it back when i come back to them!!..good luck with that thought..:(
Oh and instead of a credit for the fuel in my tanks.. i was charged a re stocking charge!!!..
Oh and their lock in rate for 2017..61.1 a litre..but was told they have so many trucks and service units and 24/7 service...yep customer gets nailed bug time!!!!

Nope

It took them a week to deposit the money sent to them for our account. We called immediately when it was deposited to have propane delivered because we were at less than 10%. The very rude woman on the phone told us it would take them one to two days to deliver the propane. We called three days later, and she changed her tune saying it would take up to 5 days. We have been out of propane for a day and she could not care less. Upon finding their Facebook page I found that this is a common problem. I also discovered that you can request an emergency delivery (for a fee) which was NEVER mentioned to us each time we talked to the horrid woman on the phone. We will now be without propane until Tuesday, because Monday is a holiday. That's almost 6 days and completely unacceptable. Horrendous customer service, long waits for everything. Go with someone else.

Unreliable and indifferent

I've dealt with Sparling's for 35 years and for a long time they were excellent but since being bought a few years ago their level of service has dropped like a stone.

I called on December 27/16 to tell them my tank was very low and need to be filled and it took them 14 days to show up.

Josh, Sparling's "dispatcher" basically blew me off when I complained.

Will be changing companies Asap.

This is a cold country, 14 days to fill a tank is ridiculous. Do yourself a favour and choose another company.
