Avoid this company!!!!! Forewarned is Forearmed!
Hired to remove 1 layer of shingles and install new ones. Said my roof sheathing was no good (30 y/0 home) Said I needed 2 rows of ice shield due to wide soffits, and another whirly bird. Were to reuse drip edge.Gave me a package price. August 2003 I paid $6,100. Over six thousand dollars using basic crappy BP shingles.
Talked me into 2 tone black when I wanted light grey due to sun exposure. Right after install I noticed that all the shingles along the edges of my home were not laying flat. They told me they would take some time to lay flat. Yeah right, they never did.! Then shortly after install I noticed a small piece of drip edge missing at one corner. I called many times , they never answered their phone. I left many messages asking them to please come and install it , eventually going so far as to fax them and threaten to take them to court. They continued to ignore me. They don't have an office you can go to, only a Post office Box.
July2013 my soffits are rusted where water got in where there was no drip edge. I'm told the roof sheathing there is rotten too.
I'm also told that they used 2 different dye lots for my shingles, so now I know why they talked me into a color I didn't want.
They used green and brown starter shingles at the very front of my house which are very obvious now that the roof is completely shot. I pulled out my expensive bill and now see that they indicated 3 ft of ice shield despite verbally telling me they would give me 6 ft. Went up into the attic. They dropped the wood cutout from my whirlybird onto my insulation and left it there.
Now that the shingles have to come off again, I'll get a chance to see if I actually received the sheathing I paid for and what else they did. Interviewing roofers right now for a new roof.
Apparently Mariposa Roofing have many dissatisfied customers esp around Lagoon City Brechin area. One commented" I heard they are doing chimney repairs now, they must've "obtained" a ladder somewhere"
Unfortunately they are still listed in my new yellow pages July 2013 under Mariposa Roofing, so I'm putting this warning out there!!!!! Don't be fooled by their presentable appearance. They are unscrupulous gougers. AVOID MARIPOSA ROOFING
