New lino

I loved the people in the showroom. They helped me find the right product based on my lifestyle and tolerance for maintenance (low!). I found a linoleum that looked okay and ordered it for the kitchen. The workers were late and not clean at all (I ended up cleaning up boot prints and other garbage after they left), but the floor ended up as expected. I'd say good enough, but workers could be more professional.

Want to spend money and get frustration in return? Fitz is for you!

Fitz is a bad boyfriend, full of empty promises and failed commitments. If I were dating Fitz, this experience would have negatively impacted my self esteem.
I used Fitz about ten years ago and had a good experience, so I didn't think twice about using them again. I paid a deposit just shy of $1K and was told the wait would be 4-6 weeks. After two months I gave them a call and was told that the main office would call me back the next day for an install date. Over the next two weeks I would call Sylvia at Fitz, she was consistently polite but unhelpful, other than to tell me that is was the main office that would be calling, which they never did. Eleven weeks after putting down my deposit and not hearing a word I called Sylvia and asked for my deposit back.
Sylvia said, "Give me one more chance to make this right. I'll call you back within the hour." Seven hours later I still hadn't heard back so I called again; Sylvia sounded surprised I was calling, having clearly forgotten about me despite the ongoing dysfunctional relationship we had shared over the last weeks. She agreed to process my refund.
A week later, and still no refund. I called the main office myself and asked for the person responsible for customer service, Jerry. I left a voicemail explaining the situation; I'm still waiting for a reply. After two more failed calls to Jerry I ended up calling Sylvia again, who processed my refund (she didn't know why it hadn't been done yet).
I suspect that my flooring was never ordered in the first place, because it seemed like Sylvia was relieved to just give me my money back rather than having to explain whatever monkey show they have going on over there. In this economy I am surprised a greater effort wasn't made to keep my business.

Hardwood floor

We went into Fitz because it's close to where we live. I found some flooring that I liked and was quoted a price of 9.10$/sq ft. we came back the following weekend and when it came time to pay, the price suddenly became 16$/sq ft. I found that incredibly shady. So they recommended an alternative that was cheaper but not really what i wanted by we just got it because we needed it soon. We were told 4-6 weeks. It's been week 9 and we're still waiting. While we were in the store, we were also interested in some tiles. At the store we were told it'd be a total of 250 $. However, when they sent us the invoice, the price went up to 600 $. They are unbelievably shady. At stated above, we are still waiting for our hardwood flooring. After repeated phone calls with either no answers or just a dismissive "yeah it'll be another 7-10 days", we finally just threatened to cancel our order. They said that they can't cancel them if they've been shipped from the warehouse... but they can't confirm whether it's been shipped or not. Apparently my order is too "small" for them to track... after this experience, I will never ever deal with this company again. Our contractor has told us they have a bad reputation and that a lot of them try and avoid them as well. Would not recommend.

Condo Carpet Install

I would not recommend this company.
Originally posted Feb. 16/16:
I ordered my carpet on November 10 and was told 4-6 weeks until the carpet arrived, I paid half the price and it was agreed that I would pay the rest upon installation. I called on December 10 for an update and was assured that it would arrive before Christmas and that it was a great time to get it installed because it was a slower time for them and that they would be able to install the carpet almost immediately. I called on December 28 (after I got my house ready and packed for install as it was my entire condo) and was told someone would call me back for an update. No one called. I called back on Dec. 30 and was told that it would arrive the following week. I emailed the owner January 4, he called me back that evening and said he would look into it and call me back the next day. I did not get a call back from him, but got a call from someone else on the evening of January 7 and was able to speak with her on January 8. She stated that the carpet was not in and there was some issues about getting it from the States but they have warehouses in Canada but provided no further details.
I understand that things happen to cause delays, but what I do not understand is that when you pay money for a product and a service, why you are never given a proper explanation as to why there are delays. Through a series of me calling and emailing with no answers, call backs or follow up, I finally got my carpet on February 6 (it was ready to be installed on February. 1, but I was unable to get it in at that time). That's 12 weeks, double the time I was told, with no courtesy calls, no apology, no discount and still no explanation.
Their invoicing is confusing, there's no measurements on it, no details really at all, just a list of the products and services purchased. When I asked about a transition strip on one part of my floor that was not installed (they installed one on another area and I was under the impression that they would replace the old existing one on the other area), I got a call back apologizing they didn't put it in and that they didn’t know why the installers didn’t put it in, and then when I called to have them come in to install it, the woman said that I didn't pay for it and that they reuse the old ones if they're in good condition. The invoice showed $24 for the strip but didn't say how many or how long, so I paid $24 for about 2 feet of strip.
Even with getting the owner involved, who blatantly ignored my last two emails, I am thoroughly disappointed with the service. It's clear from other reviews they are lacking in the customer service department. All I ever wanted was an explanation regarding the delays, which I still haven’t received. I did ask on a couple occasions if Fitz would offer me anything for the inconvenience and that was always ignored or I was told by one person I was talking to that she was unable to help me with that.
I will say that I am pleased with the actual product and the installation went very smoothly.
Please save yourself the hassle and pick a different company for your flooring needs.
Feb. 23:
To add to this, shortly after I posted complaints, I got a call from the woman I spoke to about the transition strip saying that she spoke to the sales rep and that they would replace the old transition strip free of charge if I wanted. Someone came by Saturday and flat out said that it didn't make sense why they wouldn't replace it and that I did pay for it (I asked how much the new strip was and he said no more than $12, so the $24 I paid was for the two strips). And of course he was given the wrong strip, so he had to go back to the warehouse only to find out that there wasn't the proper one there, so I had to wait to have it installed by the actual installers. Again, the product is great, the installation of everything is great so far, but I've been ignored and mislead, this is the absolute worst customer service I have ever seen.
Mar. 15: After a follow up on Feb. 24, I was told I was going to receive something in the mail for my troubles as well as an explanation for the delays. I have never received anything. I am embarrassed for this company.

Carpet Installation

I wish I had read some of the reviews before going to Fitz Flooring. I presumed they were a reputable firm, but found out the opposite. We ordered carpet on September 26, 2015 and were told it would be 6 a 8 weeks, and still do not have it. We had to prepay half of the value on ordering. Same as others, we did not hear anything and after 8 weeks I tried to contact someone to see where our order stood. No one responded. This company has a terrible communication policy. When I did ask to speak to the manager, I was told that the carpet would be on its way and installed this week. Today I get a call stating that it did not make it on the truck! We are now going on three months waiting for a carpet that should have been installed in November. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

kitchen floor

The help was good in the showroom and the product was ready on time. I thought that they were able to recommend the best material for me based on my needs and household properties. I ended up switching what I originally thought was my preference because of this and it worked out well. It's relatively obvious that they aren't as expert as other companies but if you can get a good price, they are worthwhile.

Supply & install hardwood, vinly tiles in condo

I ordered this wood to be installed in a condo I just purchased. The wood was supposed to be delivered Sept. 17 -19 for install on Sept. 21, 22nd. We ordered the wood Sept. 3 as it was in Calgary, we were told, however, it has mysteriously disappeared and after numerous calls and emails we have not received an answer or the wood. I move in next Monday Sept 28, but have no floors, so will not be able to stay in the condo or have my furniture set up, and services I had set up will have to be changed, throwing the whole move out of whack. I will have to stay somewhere else. Not impressed!

Hardwood flooring

I ordered hardwood flooring from Fitz on May 26, 2015. Was told it would take 3-4 weeks. 11 weeks later and I have no hardwood flooring. I have been calling weekly since week 6 and no one gets back to me. The one time I was able to get any information I was told that my order was "under management review". It is a pretty straight forward order of a few boxes of hardwood so I have no idea why management would need to review. At this point I would just like my money back as it is clear that they have no intention of delivering or responding to my calls. Absolutely horrible customer service. Would never use them in the future.
