A Kanata Bungalow

After purchasing a house built by Monarch, we have had to replace all windows and doors, for starters. It's a long list of repairs we have had to do on a brand new home.

Monarch New TownHome

Just moved into our newly built townhome in Blackstone in Kanata. Nothing but problems. We thought this builder was good but how wrong we were. So many issues. Bad finishings all over the place. It is as if a bunch of kids were working on this house. We asked for Central Vacuming but the roughins were never installed. Asked for a humidifier but it was never plugged into the water line. Waterline for the fridge was never added. Got an inspector to come check out the house, and found a leak in the attick. Washroom tiles are not even.. Powder room has a huge whole behing the sink where we can the basement. Talking to the Monarch people is just too slow and nothing is getting done unless I harass them so many times. DO NOT BUY A MONARCH HOME.

Newly Built Home

Monarch had a good reputation in Ottawa and the sales rep was amazing, we felt very confident in our decision to purchase a Monarch home. Everyone has different experiences, this happens to be our first experience with building a new home.
Issues we had from day 1:
Leaking roof for 6 months, caused mould in our 6 month old house.
All our windows leaked water onto the sills and some puddled on the floor.
Poor workmanship on all of our trim.
Master shower leaked water out of our kitchen light bulb, took Monarch 3 months to decide to completely rebuild from scratch.
Frozen water pipe in our garage ceiling leading to a second floor bedroom was fixed but never sealed all winter, this is against the building code.
Second floor dryer vent that shoudl have been vented out the attic was routed to our basement and left open in the basement, blowing dryer lint all over the basement floor - again against building code and fire hazard.
Eavestrough freezing up in the winter, Monarch sas not their problem.
List goes on.
I personally would never build with Monarch again.

Approximate cost of services:
$600,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Hire trades that are proud of their workmanship. Hire customer service reps that actually have some customer service skills.

Detached house in Bronte

I have purchased a house built by Monarch in 2008, in the past 3 years that we are living in this house we had 3 leaks on our roof, I called Monarch last year and they sent someone out to tell me that I have no guarantee for the roof anymore! The quality of materials used in this house are cheap, never again I will buy a Monarch house.

Stonebridge- Barrhaven Home

While the neighbourhood was under construction for the year that I lived there- the workers started early and took over the public roads as soon as 7am. They were not conscious or considerate that people were living there. They did not move when you drove up, they just stared at you. This is not a top builder. I was expecting superior quality and workmanship but instead what I find is poor workmanship, inadequate customer service, no accountability and management who feel like they are inferior and have no sense of accountability. I would think twice before buying a home from Monarch.

Stonebridge, Townhouse

Where do I start, I'm an end unit and they drilled into my mortar into my house wrap. It flooded my basement and they wouldn't clean the water up. Within 48 hours my entire basement was full of black mould. The mould travelled to my neighbours entire basement. I hired a company to test for mould, before the test came back, Monarch emailed me stating they were here and no mould was visible! Guess what, the report came back positive!!!! More to follow, after the battle that continues for almost 9 months now.

A new home in Kanata

Wind is blowing water into our house - a caulking failure - and Monarch said it is not their responsibility! The house is less than 4 years and water flooded the basement when we newly moved in, yet Monarch failed to resolve the problem. The workmanship is terrible and materials used inferior, even our eavesthrough still leaks despite their claim it was fixed. We made a video this week showing water dripping still.
