New Home

House is beautiful. But we've had a lot of issues with the floor on the master bedroom, they have tried to fix is atleast 10 times but it keeps coming back. Now the warranty is up and they won't look at it. But the sound from the floor has gotten pretty bad now, it never went away, we can hear it in the main floor when somebody is walking upstairs. It's almost like something is breaking.

I feel like they did not look at the issue very seriously... they kept sending a junior guy to take a look at it.

Another issue which was very bad was the main washroom shower stall. The tiles were not installed very well and water leaked through the floor to the main floor ceiling and the next bed room wall. It is fixed now but not completely.

It's very stressful when you buy a brand new house and these issues come up and are not fixed.

Thanks Sameer for complimenting your Parkwood home, we are glad that you find it beautiful. We're sorry to hear about the other issues you faced and that despite our attempts, they still did not seem to get rectified. Unfortunately, some problems are more difficult to solve than others, which can be very frustrating for our customers, we understand. If it is still not resolved, please feel free to contact us.

Single Family Home in Glenridding

Versatile products, flexible design and good aftersales service.
I was most pleased with how Parkwood and Ron (sales manager) deals with crediting customers and rectifying errors or problems during construction. Though you will find typical builder problems with communication, scheduling, trades, etc. But a satisfactory experience nonetheless, and we are very happy with our home in the end.

Single family home in Tamarack Common

We enjoyed very much the home purchasing experience with Parkwood. The area sales manager, Ron Torella, was very helpful and informative in helping us through the purchasing process. He was very patient and respectful when doing the negotiation with us. He helped us to get the best price for the house. He then did his best to get the corner lot that we wanted. During the building process, he always kept us posted and also was so patient to accommodate all our changes. The look and the interior of the Bridgeport are just exactly what we want. We are very happy with the roomy design and the workmanship. I would recommend Ron and Parkwood to anyone who wants to buy a new home.

New Home

Very sad experience dealing with customer and warranty department, compared with their sales persons...

So far we have a long list of fixing and repairs, but we can not even start talking about the list. Because they rarely respond either email or voice mail.

(1) Parkwood postponed our construction meetings date and procession date more than 1 time. And this is the first time I feel there might be something wrong.

"why delay our construction meeting again? And you have the construction meeting time in printing?"
"You are not the only customer of Parkwood"
Thanks for let me know

(2) Pouring our driveway.
Our neighbor was building their million dollar home with Parkwood several months behind us, but get driveway concrete poured even before us. Money talks eh? They are in such a rush after I complained again and again. Even before the day the sub-contractor poured the driveway, the stairs were not right and I had to email them and send them picture. Finally they poured the driveway before first snow but forget to check the city water shut off, which makes a ugly hole there afterwards.

(3) After we moved to our home we found out that there is no EPCOR water meter in our home! we talked to Parkwood customer support and they said they will send someone and I told them I book the EPCOR to my home to check next week. Days later,I phoned them the afternoon before EPCOR appointment asking why no one coming.

And the answer from the customer support manager is "why you do not re-schedule your appointment as you know the meter is not installed?"

I called EPCOR again, and EPCOR said they will install the water meter. Looks that Parkwood staff do not know their work very well.

Again I have to take time off each time I book my appointment.

(4) I use my portable clothes washer in my laundry room and the tap is not designed to take the back pressure of the washer. I talked this to Parkwood and their sub-contractors and get answers like this.

Parkwood "we do not have any document saying you can use a portable clothes washer in your laundry room"
Sub-Contractor "Why you use another washer in a brand new home"
I had to, personally contacted the manufacture of the tap and washer and get official response saying that the product I bought could be used in Canada. the problem is the connection from the tap to the water line. Once they know these and came to check, they finally found out the tap they are using is not even in our AGREEMENT!!!

(5) Mold in basement.
Leger board (the pressure treated wood to attach the deck) is installed so poorly on the ripped house wrap and mold was there. Until start doing my deck, I opened the insulation in basement, I found the mold. I insisted them to change the leger board also, but they did not. and once the ripped house wrap tapped they installed the same leger board back again but a quarter inch higher on one side. And I have to call them back to re-level the leger board. Again they pull the poor leger board out and nailed it back.

(6) Not until September 25, 2015 I finally got the parging (concrete along the basement) and window wells done properly... which is more than 9 months after I moved into our home... I send email and called around 30 times to get things done. Each time I got the same answer, "seasonal work, we do not know when, but we did contact the contractor". I guess when you choose the contractor based on the lowest price, you get what you paid, eh?

(7) counter tops
Honestly they might meet the "standard" but they are far from grade "A". Kitchen granite countertop obviously is not manufactured correctly. I can see the marks which grinder on a whole section... bath room countertops...

(8) Furnace register hole was cut too big on the carpet and sub-contractor using one size up register to cover up. Until one day the register popped up from the hole...

I understand all trade will have this or that defects, as long as we could talk about the defects and find out how to fix it. It is OK. I have no problem with that. But once you send the build emails, make phone calls and do not get any response. It is really frustrating.

Oh, one more thing, they hire "Top Shelf Closet and Glass" doing our shower room. Terrible workmanship and no quality control at all. You could see from the picture of their "Top Quality"

Nightmare Duplex

I had a stable of problems with my home, everything from finding holes in the walls hidden behind mirrors to electrical layout deviations that were never fixed, to having to take 20+ days off work to deal with deficiencies to trim, shower tiles, fireplace issues, countertop issues, cabinetry issues etc. Warranty department experience was horrid. Overall workmanship and attention to detail was horrific. Completely disorganized, service work was never available on weekends. I would have lost my job if I didn't work for an employer that allowed me to take as much time off as I did to babysit the "trades".

Company Response

Thank you for your feedback Mr Smola, we are so sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your home. We were aware that there were some issues with your countertops/cabinetry which were to be replaced. Unfortunately on the date that the replacement was scheduled the trade dropped the counter outside and damaged it. It then had to be re-ordered, the replacement had to be re-scheduled and this resulted in additional appointments. This was an unfortunate unforeseen error, which we can understand caused you stress and we do apologize. We do make special arrangements in order to fix items in the home, while home owners are not at home, so that home owners don’t have to take time off of work. We do appreciate however that some home owners prefer to be in the home to oversee the trades.

In regards to your other issues, we do have on file that our Warranty Team contacted you at your year-end to see if you were happy with your home and to ensure that any outstanding items are complete. We are only aware of one item which is scheduled for completion on October 6th. If there is anything further that you know of, please do contact warranty@parkwoodhomes.ca and we will look at getting this fixed right away for you.

Home at Allard Stage 4 (Newport)

We moved into to our New home in Allard and We had an awesome experience with Parkwood master builder. Highly professional and friendly Sales Team (Special Thanks to Callie Hamill, Sales Manager). They are flexible in customizing Home design, from the sales staff (Mark Kelsch & Jill Toshach), to the design center, and finally the site supervisor we were thoroughly impressed! but I’m sure Parkwood master builder will improve Construction Process Planning to meet Home construction on schedule (13 Months to complete our Home, One reason Allard stage 4 was New Phase). Rest all good, quality product and quality workman ship. I would highly recommend Parkwood master Builder to construct a Dream home

New house building - Kingston royale model

I appreciate the work style, customized design of Parkwood Master Builder in building my house in tamarack common. They are flexible in customizing the our style. Apart from that, they need to speed-up the building process and can avoid administration fee for small changes during construction. Personally, I appreciate Mr. Ron Tonrella in assisting and suggesting good things related to customizing house.
