We had quotes from several companies for our move from Whitby to Kingston. Rockbrune were recommended to us so although they were not the cheapest we decided to book them. We had a sales person called "Wally" come to do a quote. He was shown the whole house and gave us a quote based on the whole house contents that were to be moved. We were told that the van and people would be there between 8 & 9 am, they would load on the Wednesday, and deliver on the Thursday. We were told they only use full time movers who would be highly skilled. Come day of the move, my wife and i were up bright and early, no sign of the van, by 10:00 we were getting concerned so called them, only to be told they had no record of our move, even though my wife had spoken to the sales person who quoted us and as far as we knew had paid a deposit. The lady on the phone told us they would get someone there as soon as possible. the van arrived at approx 12:15. This is when things went even further downhill, the team showed up, the driver was the most surly, ignorant person it has been my displeasure in working with EVER, he informed us that they had already done a 6 hour shift and he was not pleased to have to be doing our move, he complained about how much stuff we had, how some items were heavy, he spoke to the kids working with him like they were garbage and kept dropping the "F" bomb, and when i say kids, i mean kids, one said he was 15. The driver refused to move some items because he said they could be damaged in transit, even though the sales person had said they would be fine. If this wasn't bad enough, we then discovered the van they had sent was too small, i noticed that they had filled it and my basement was still full of boxes, plus they had not touched the exterior items they were to move. The ever pleasant driver took the first truck and went to go get another to complete the move. At one point during the move, we made a point of speaking to the driver who seemed to be in charge, and one of the other movers that we wanted one futon mattress left behind as we would be needing it to sleep on in our new house that night, i went to the bedroom to discover they had packed both of the futons, i looked into the van and saw one on top of a pile of stuff with 3 boxes in front of it, i asked the driver if we could get it back and he refused saying we were an hour too late, this left us with no option but to sleep on the floor of our new house as we have dogs and could not leave them behind or find an hotel that would take them at 11:00 pm when we finally arrived in Kingston. Delivery the next day was an even worse experience as they picked up kids to help them who were just plain not interested in doing the work, they were muscle pure and simple, no thought process, i asked them to stack boxes in the garage as we had 2 truck loads, as soon as i left to go empty the wardrobe boxes that they demanded were done as soon as possible the kids just dumped everything just randomly. there were 2 workbenches to go into the garage and i went out twice to make room for them, only to find they had filled the space. Boxes clearly marked bedroom 3 went into the garage, a router table which was marked garage/workshop ended up in the basement bedroom...etc....etc..... Final insult was we were charged more than the quote because they had to use more people than they had originally quoted, no idea why that was my problem as we showed them the the whole house before the move was booked.....sorry for the long read, but i have nothing nice to say about them
