Priority Plumbing

I was hesitant to commit to paying $50 up-front to have them assess the situation when they wouldn't give me an approximate estimate over the phone, or even an indication of their hourly rate. My instinct on this was right.

I needed a leaky pipe fixed under the kitchen counter - the quote, for which I paid a $50 home visit fee - was over $1,300. When I asked how long they thought the work (removing the pvc trap and installing a new one) would take, I was told "at least an hour". So, for those of you counting at home - the going rate at this place (give or take the $20-$30 in supplies that were included in the price) is over $1,000 per hour for plumbing services. Plus another $50 to let you know that in person.

*Update* In response to the response: The job quoted was *not* for 3 things. I did ask a question about an outdoor tap (which the plumber answered). No work was/is required.

The $1,300 quote was for replacing the trap and sink baskets (the pipe was leaking) under the sink and to fix a toilet that was hard to flush - it also included two upsell scenarios in which the plumber tried to get me to buy an entirely new toilet. After getting the quote, I asked for a price for only the sink fix and was told the price would be the same - $1,300. Again, I asked him how long he thought the repair would take and he said "at least an hour". I asked him if his hourly rate was *really* over $1,000 an hour and he began to tell me about the training that goes into being a licensed plumber. It was a friendly talk the entire time (he was very courteous). I told him I would think about it, and left it at that.

I suppose the only real response I have is this: I called another company to come in, which they did for free (see my other review), and my sink was fixed for $250. As for the toilet: Did I need a new toilet? No. Did I need to have the inner parts replaced? No. The other guy just looked in, bent the wire coming off the handle, and it now works perfectly. No charge.

I had two toilets that had issues. One kept running and the other was so bad it would not even fill up the tank. Kostis gave me a few options and fixed things in a short amount of time. He even mentioned some maintenance tips to prevent recurrence.

I found Priority Plumbing & Drains and Greg the plumber to be very knowledgeable and he did an excellent work. The price of the repair was well explained before the work was done.

The plumber, Giacomo that came to service our problem was friendly and professional. He provided us with 3 different possible options to move forward with to fix our problem. He was quick and clean.

A valve recently developed a leak (faulty valve). Giacomo replaced the valve free of charge. Expert service, efficient, professional and great sense of humour!!

Priority Plumbing responded in a very timely manner. The plumber, Kostis, was very courteous, and efficient. I would have no hesitation in recommending this company in the highest possible terms.

We had our basement toilet spill waste into our basement over the holidays. We called Priority Plumbing because we had seen our neighbour use them just over the summer so they were top of mind. I am glad I called them first because they had someone there as soon as they could, gave me up front pricing (expensive but no hidden costs) and he did what he had to do to figure out the issue we had including snaking the line, using a camera to look through the drains. Turned out to be a cracked pipe leading to the street from our home (80+ year old pipes) so the next morning the crew was there to fix the problem and we are back up and running.

What was just as impressive for me is that Greg listened to my concerns and talked me through the process and took the time to explain our options and make recommendations. He did not judge my decisions and I felt like a customer throughout the experience not a victom (like I have experienced in the past with some plumbers in Toronto).

Greg Tsakopoulos from Priority Plumbing is one of the cleanest, most competent plumbing contractors I've ever hired. When he became available before the scheduled appointment, his service called and Greg showed up early. He then showed us a number of repair and upgrade options to meet our needs, and he completed his work in line with his original time and cost estimates.

Response time was prompt. Service person was polite and informative. Work was completed to our satisfaction, stoped the rapid leak. Cost was in my opinion quite high for 45 minutes of work. Certainly not the cheepest company in town but efficent.
