sofa

I recently moved back to Vancouver from overseas and was so looking forward to finally owning something permanent. I was giddy with anticipation of have my new couch arrival when the news broke of the Ikea strike! I waited patiently for 4 weeks before finally biting the bullet and called to cancel my order and opted to buy from another store who promised delivery within 1 week. One day after putting down a deposit for the alternate couch, I received a call from Ikea that my couch can be delivered the following day. I was torn! But sticking to my principals, I bit my tongue and murmurred that I will need to discuss it with my husband before making a decision. Long story short, after almost 2 months of returning home from 7 years of living like a vagabond overseas, I can now put my feet up on MY coffee while sitting on MY couch, watching MY TV.

kitchen renovation

After 2 stressful experiences with Canada's 2 largest box stores I thought I would contract IKEA to do my kitchen. What a good choice that was. Efficient, responsible and good value are the words I would use to describe my reno experience with Ikea. If all companies operated with such accountability life for us consumers would be much more enjoyable.

bathroom

I needed a few things for my bathroom just to add a few last touches. I knew ikea was a lot more affordable for not too bad of quality. I bought a new shelving unit, a bathroom toilet paper holder/towel rack, and new soap dishes and toothbrush holder. The guy that was helping me did a great job helping me choose and match to my desire.

simple, morden. designed for life

same as many other first time home owner, I had very limited budget, and high expectation on how the room will turn out to be. I purchased my furnitures in Ikea before. This time, i wanted to try more shops. after comparing almost all the furniture shops in lower mainland, my choice is still Ikea. It provides the leading fashion design with very moderate price. I love my Ikea home

Linen box

I bought a self-assembly linen box that would not assemble correctly. It turned out it had the wrong screws in the packaging.

Sofa

The delivered sofa was as advertised and required little assembly. For quality and suitably priced contemporary furniture, I highly recommend this retailer.

Living room and bedroom furniture

I've always loved the layout at IKEA. There's loads to see. The service, on the other hand, could be better. I'm not one of those shoppers who needs or wants constant attention, but I find that when I need someone, there is no one nearby at IKEA.

Kitchen Renovation

Purchased a 30 year old townhouse and gutted the kitchen right down to the studs. Option one was to have a custom kitchen installed by a cabinet company out of Coquitlam. The pros there were: good price (about the same as Ikea), cabinets built to my EXACT DESIGN (no need for filler strips on the ends etc)and the ability to pick from a myraid of stains. The con in that case was only timeline: lead time was 8-9 weeks. The Ikea kitchen cost about the same, but I was able to have it installed 2 weeks after I purchased it. With some creativity I was able to make it look almost like my original design. I spent about $200 extra to have the installers add a few details that made it look less cookie cutter and it turned out great. MODUS did the installation and the guys were friendly and did great work. My take: if you have time to wait, go custom if you are pressed for time, Ikea is an excellent option.
