Improved Delivery

I was surprised to learn that Home Depot used a service like Door Dash for delivery. I was charged no delivery charge (I only put one dollar because this site required a numerical number), the delivery was quick, and the sale price was enticing. Certainly makes checking Home Depot more often much more likely now.

Plumbing Department

It was my 2nd time to cost the plumbing section ..desperately looking for a part . most stores didn't have it as its over 7 years old .
Luckily for my 2nd time . 2nd experience to meet that awesome sales associate who is really having such strong recommendations and experience .
Without even a single word. I found the piece right before my eyes .
I don't usually write reviews . but Ali in that department for the 2nd time was a live saver and game changer for me .
I got 3 toilet fan first visit without needing to dig my ceiling . then today a part that saved me calling a plumber to replace my shower tub tap .
Definitely will be back and thank you Ali

water heater warranty

My water heater was under warranty. I bought it through home depot. It broke on Tuesday. I went to home depot right away. The processing of paperwork by Ali in home depot ( plumbing) was fast. I had new water heater installed on Wednesday (the next day).

Toilet installation is very poor. HomeDepot uses unlicense falks

Extremely disappointed with the installation services... Had an installer coming to install my new toilet. The installation was very poor. Toilet wasn’t set properly, it was wobbly. I told the installer to do something about it. He didn’t seem to care. All his response was that I have uneven floor. How come my old toilet was set properly for years. I asked the installer to show me the plumber license, and he got none. Does Homedepot send unlicensed installers? Called HomeDepot multiple times, and got no answer!

Customer Service

During the past 2 months I spent more than $2,500 on paint and paint supplies in the Port Coquitlam Home Depot location. Last week I asked for a paint sample cost $3 and when I went home I found the color different than what I have asked for. I went back to the customer service the following week and Tanis at Customer Service talked to me in a very rude way and told me "we cannot refund your $3 because we cannot confirm whether your story is true"!!! I wonder what kind of customer service is this!!! You think I would waste my time asking for $3 refund if it is my mistake!!

Garage Organizer System

Home Depot sell Husky Brand cabinets and wall organizers. Although this is targeted at the home consumer it should be noted that the Husky track wall system will crack, and bend as it will not hold anywhere near what it claims. They did give my money back but you lose a lot of time either buying again or repairing the wall. The cabinets are very light duty too. I suggest avoiding the Husky drawer units as they are too light duty.

Bathroom Reno

The staff is helpful but they are not all too sure where products are located either online or in the store - lack of knowledge. I had a product I wanted in the flyer and it took them forever to locate in the store and once they did it took quite sometime to get someone to help get it off the shelf. In the time it took I could of gone somewhere else and come back.

Caulking and Paint Supplies

One of those big jobs around the house that you always put off for too long. Exterior house repairs and repainting on a house the is about 7000 square feet.

I decided to take the summer and so my job started in May of 2009 and finished at the end of July. May and June were wonderful times to be working on the house but, July came down hard with the heat.

I did all the research I could handle through books and on line and I felt that I was ready to tackle the big job. The house hadn't been painted since I first moved in back in June 2000 so, there was a lot of caulking to be redone along with some wood repairs.

The wood work was pretty much a breeze as this was my forte. I had also done all f the wood prep before paint was to start. Sanding, scraping and hand cleaning with TSP. Wood fill was needed in a few spots but it was nothing serious.

The caulking on the other hand was a huge job. Almost every window had to be redone and where ever I had replaced wood the edges and butts had to be caulked. My research pointed me to Acrylic/ Latex caulk as it was flexible and paintable. Off I went to my local H.D. for additional advice and product purchases. One big difference this time though. All of my paint purchases were done through CIL. A company they is a specialist in this area.

The caulking on the other couldn't be that big of a deal and so taking the advice from the H.D. specialist I made my purchase but in a small amount just to be on the safe side.

My first weekend of caulking went well. The product applied quite well and was easy to work with. Used up all of the caulk supplies over the weekend and on Monday I was back to finish my purchase of caulking materials. The week went by very fast and the caulking was working great. Once all of the caulking was applied I decided to take a few days off from the job just to make sure the caulking was properly cured before I painted.

To make this long story a short one. Major product failure. All of the caulking I used shrunk, cracked and curled up. H.D's response was they couldn't understand why the product failed but they will reimburse me for the caulking I bought and said that they would remove the product right away. They did point out to me that they were doing me a favour as this was an isolated incident.

Fast forward to October 2009 and the caulking product is still n H.D's shelves and I have heard from a lot of people who have had the same issue with the same caulking I purchased.

Yes, I did get my money back and the work... my job became much bigger.

install new furnace

Last year, I hired home depot to install a new Trane furnace (no payment for 1yr). They sent two guys to do the job. One was a young apprentice who didn't get enough supervision here. I'm sure he stepped on my aluminum gutters when he went up to the roof. He bent it badly out of shape. Of course he didn't say anything.
They also should have installed a B vent in the chimney to safely vent the hazardous gas. Now I'm paying another company to do this for $200.

Approximate cost of services:
$5,200.00
