Doesn’t Stand Behind The Products

Previous hayward pool heater lasted over ten years. These guys replaced it with pentair. Unit failed in 18 months, they replaced it, and the new one failed in two weeks, He couldnt care less, washed his hands of it and then hung up on me. Blamed our water. We have owned a pool for 20 years, we know how to keep the water and swim everyday.

Avoid these guys, just want your money and then screw you over. They seem real nice until you give them your money, then watch out.

Company Response

Thank you for your review. Our telephone calls are recorded for quality control purposes and we can verify that you hung up on us as you did not like the opinion provided to you regarding the failure of your pool heater. We have seen other customers damage a heater in less than the three weeks it took for you to kill your heater and they have responded in the same manner as you.

You contacted us on July 26, 2021 to service the Pentair heater we installed in January 2020 and we were able to arrange a service call that very same day. You advised that the service light comes on and you would unplug the unit and when you plugged it back in, it would work for a couple weeks. It was determined when our technician was there that the pool heater was leaking and you needed a new pool heater. You called the afternoon on July 26, 2021 to provide a deposit on a new heater which we installed on July 27, 2021. Extremely quick service considering the distribution issues the pool heater industry is having.

You left a voicemail on Thursday, August 12, 2021 and we had a technician back on Friday, August 13, 2021 at no cost to you. The pool heater was beginning to show signs of chemistry damage as the unitherm governor had a hole in it and was badly corroded. By August 17, 2021, you advised the pool heater developed a leak and there was water on pool room floor. We gave the opinion that the heater was damaged due to chemistry as that is what the photo evidence tells us. No pool heater manufacturer will cover chemistry related issues as warranty as maintaining a proper water chemistry is extremely important and we advise customers of this on a regular basis.

We have never serviced a Hayward pool heater for you. We first serviced your Jandy LXi250 pool heater on January 14, 2019. That Jandy had a blocked heat exchanger. We returned on January 15, 2019 and did a thorough cleaning to the heat exchanger.

We emailed an estimate for a new Pentair MasterTemp 250 on January 27, 2020 which was accepted the same day and installed on January 29, 2020. Again, incredibly quick service.

Something has changed with the operation of your entire pool system. Again, photo evidence and the unitherm governor points towards chemistry damage as does the history of the prior Jandy and the first Pentair unit. We apologize that you are in this situation. If you feel that it should be an issue covered under warranty, we recommend contacting the manufacturer, Pentair, who provides the warranty, at 1-800-831-7133. It would be handy to have a copy of the invoice and whatever water testing results you may have. All the best to you and your husband.

Pool Heater Repair

GasFix was called to inspect our pool heater that would not ignite. The service tech replaced the igniter - started the unit and left. Unfortunately this was not the problem - the unit failed just after he left. When my wife called the office an unreasonable call back time was suggested and when she requested a more appropriate time the company representative swore at her and hung up. The conversation was overheard by another service tech who was completing a service call for an Hvac inspection. he was appalled at what he heard coming from this individual. At this point the $462 is not the issue, the failed pool heater is not the issue - how my wife was spoken to is the issue and this needs to be dealt with by GasFix.

Pool Heater Repair

Hired Gas Fix to repair Pool Heater. They fixed it. Got Charged a fair labour rate but got gouged on the parts price. I paid $686.49 for 3 parts that are readily available in the marketplace for for under $250.00. I didn't expect to get taken advantage of by a company that we had used in the past and when I objected to the parts price the repair tech immediately threatened to take the parts out and leave. I complained to head office and the GM called me a few minutes ago to explain that in order to have these parts readily available to customers, that this is their pricing policy on parts. So they win, I lose. I would recommend to anyone thinking about using Gas Fix to get a quote first, let them leave and then find someone more reasonable to do the repairs. An extremely unpleasant experience.

I wasn't surprised to see a quick response from the company as they don't want others to question their parts pricing tactics. I signed nothing to provide the go ahead to install the parts at the verbally quoted price of a couple of hundred dollars each. I immediately went to call distributors of the parts and discovered the price quoted was outrageous. Upon return to the tech to raise my objection, the parts were already in and the well rehearsed threat to remove them and leave immediately and charge for the labour was delivered. Its a bit like Ransomware on your computer, pay now or suffer the consequences. Thanks for your quick reply and good luck to you and your business. A dissatisfied customer will tell between 9-15 people about their experience, I'll make sure to multiply that .

Company Response

Thank you for your review. In 2012, we were there to service the Starite heater. As your email indicates, the issue was identified quickly and the charge was reasonable. In April 2021, we serviced the pool heater again and as your email to us states, the technician was on time, identified the problem AND had all three parts on the service vehicle. Prior to installing the parts, the technician did advise you on the price and you gave your approval to proceed with the repair. In your email communication you say you checked the Pentair site for the list price but their site doesn’t list any prices. Also, unless you have an account with the distributors, you can’t see list prices on their sites either. In reality, you had to price check at the retail level. All three parts are not readily available for under $250. Actually, all three parts are special order. Two of those items have expected shipping dates between 10 to 16 weeks due to distribution issues happening in the industry. Gas Fix had the parts on the service vehicle and was able to take care of your heater on the same day. Other contractors can't because they don't invest in parts or carry parts on their service vehicle as the GM explained to you. At Gas Fix, we strive to provide quality service and care to all our clients. Unfortunately, there are circumstances where no matter how hard we try, it becomes clear that this is not possible. Gas Fix provides a quality service and when our technicians are on a service call, they have over 300+ of the most common parts on their vehicle. When you want cheap service, please, call our competitor. All the best to you and your family and we hope you get lots of enjoyment out of your pool this season.

Fireplace Repair

A long overdue review. Scott came to our home beginning of December for a gas fireplace we hadn't used in years. He set blankets down on the floor to protect the carpet. He cleaned and vacuumed out the entire inside of the fireplace and all the vents. Scott then checked that air was going up through the chimney and that nothing was clogged. He found the main gas valve piece was defective, of which he had all extra parts in his truck. He replaced the part, checked everything again for air flow, and made sure it was all cycling and heating properly. When Scott was finished, he thoroughly cleaned up the entire work area, including vacuuming the carpet area. We've been happily using our fireplace again during the past winter. Thanks so much Scott for your expertise in diagnosing and repairing our fireplace. Will definitely call you again for yearly cleaning.

Twin Eagles BBQ total upgrade and repairs

My Twin Eagles BBQ was in need of a major repair - burners were shot, briquettes were crumbling, lights worn out, etc. Contacted Cedar Springs Landscape who originally installed - they referred me to Gasfix. Scott took charge with the help of Rick at CSL and ordered all the parts necessary to bring my BBQ back to NEW again. Scott orchestrated all the parts and kept in touch with me knowing I was anxious to get the repairs done as I use my BBQ 3-4 times a week. Scott waited for a break in the weather and was here yesterday for 3 hours. He did an amazing job. Quality and Great Service from Scott at Gasfix and Rick at CSL. Thanks!

Great professional service!

Called Gasfix Repair after another local company told us that our older natural gas fireplace needed a replacement gas valve but that parts were unavailable and we would need to buy a new fireplace at a cost of over $5000 as well as ripping out the wall and mantle to install. I called Gasfix with the fireplace model and serial number, and spoke to Jason. Sure enough, they had parts available. Their technician Scott just made the repair. I was very impressed with their strong customer service orientation and professional approach. Scott arrived masked to protect us from covid risks. He protected the work area with a pad. He thoroughly vacuumed and cleaned the unit including the glass. He replaced the defective gas valve making sure the new valve was properly mounted which the old valve wasn't. He tested for gas leaks and carbon monoxide, and reviewed proper operation of the fireplace. He left the work area clean and tidy. Excellent service from both Jason in the office and Scott throughout. I have no hesitation in recommending Gasfix for your fireplace repair needs.
