Basement Ceiling leak

My basement bathroom ceiling had leaked dramatically 2 days before a two week trip out of the country. I called ExpressRooter because there were no leaks/dampness on the floor above and thought it must have been something in between the floors. ExpressRouter was the quickest one to send a plumber to my home the next day (on boxing day!).

The plumber not only assessed the situation quickly but was courteous enough to ask if there was anything else he could look at while he was there!

$160.00

Basement Ceiling leak

My basement bathroom ceiling had leaked dramatically 2 days before a two week trip out of the country. I called ExpressRooter because there were no leaks/dampness on the floor above and thought it must have been something in between the floors.

ExpressRouter was the quickest one to send a plumber to my home the next day (note: this was on boxing day). The plumber, who was very professional and courteous, told me that before doing anything, I had to agree to an inspection of $148 plus HST. I of course agreed, since I was leaving the next day. Within 20 minutes of being at my house, he correctly deduced that the leak was coming from my dishwasher (we didn't notice it at first because the floor is recessed underneath).

Since he didn't know how to fix the part that was faulty, he asked if there was anything else he could look at. I showed him a problem I had in our bathroom upstairs with the tub, but because the tub was not conventional, he didn't have the right tools/parts to fix it. So all in all, I paid $160 for someone to tell me that my dishwasher was broken. A little tough to swallow.

Here's where my dissatisfaction enters. The day I was leaving, I called ExpressRouter to see if they could help me out a bit with the inspection fee. I totally understand that people need to get paid, and it costs money to send plumbers to homes, but I figured maybe they could give me a break because I paid $160 for 20 minutes of time and nothing was fixed. The operator told me that the person I needed to speak to wasn't in, and she'd call me on Monday. I never received a call.

When I got home, I managed to get in touch with her, but she said she had to ask her manager or some higher-up about this issue. A week goes by, and I don't receive a call back. I call again and she tells me she still hasn't her back and she'll get back to me when she does. Another week has gone by since...

In closing, the experience with the plumber and the dispatch was very good. Dealing with administration afterwards has been very unsatisfactory, enough to not make me want to use them again.
