Did you know that when you move your residence, your Enercare program automatically moves over to your new home? Well I didn't know that until monthly charges started appearing on my Enbridge bill at my new home. When I called Enercare, I was advised that the heating/cooling program automatically moved over and I was stuck with it for one year. They absolutely would not budge on that. All the heating/cooling program provides is one yearly cleaning/maintenance visit. It does NOT cover equipment repair/breakdown. Since I was stuck with the contract, I scheduled an Enercare appointment for cleaning of my furnace and a/c. Since I am new to the home, I do not know much about these units. The technician arrived to do the maintenance and was perturbed that I didn't have running water at the front of the house where the a/c unit was situated and my hose would not reach. He basically said "tough for you, I can't service this". When I made the appointment, no one at Enercare advised that I must have running water for the a/c servicing. Anyways, he moves on to the furnace (which is a very tight spot) was was again perturbed about the tight working space. He got madder and madder. I basically asked him to leave and as he was leaving, he handed me a TAG which means that my gas would be shut off unless "deficiencies" were corrected with the furnace installation. This guy was scary..... I had to go to the trouble of tracking down the company that installed the furnace to come and inspect the "poor workmanship" he noted on the tag. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my furnace and this was done out of spite. Of course, I reported all of this to Enercare during a marathon 2 hour phone call where I was repeatedly placed on hold (they try to wear you down by taking up lots of your time). I demanded to be released from the service contracts as I will NEVER allow an Enercare service person in my home again. Well, no one got back to me and I called again today. Guess what! Nothing has changed and the individual I spoke to (who I'm told was a supervisor) would not budge. Ask any qualified service technician and they will tell you about the quality of techincians who work for Enercare - very low! All Enercare wants is to lock you into that contract which renews AUTOMATICALLY each year - they would obligate you for life if you could. Do yourself a favor - stay away! This is NOT a reputable company who stands behind their service.
