Poor Service and Demeaning Sales Reps

We just purchased a dishwasher and microwave from Coast Appliance, and have had nothing but issues with their service.

It started with the sales rep Ryan. We went is with a model in mind to purchase but, due to the availability of stock (most seemed to have a 2 month wait list, according to him) we switched and settled for Samsung appliances for each.

We had asked for an estimated delivery date, so we could book the install (the install was not something that they arrange for you, so be warned) and he said that he could not give one and to check in a week. I called a week later, and was told by Ryan again that Samsung does not provide estimated delivery dates, which makes no sense when you have to book an install that is also sitting at weeks away for schedule. I advised that I am only looking for an ETA, and if there were delays, I understand as I also am in sales and understand supply chain issues. Ryan responded that he would not provide an ETA, and "maybe he should discuss this with my husband as I clearly didn't understand".

The demeaning way he treated me was out of line. I hung up and called back to speak to someone else, and was provided with the ETA of delivery with no issue. I made an official complaint with the manager, Shannon, of the Surrey/Langley store and was assured that Ryan would be pulled off our file.

I booked the install with the installation company. The next day, Ryan advised the install company to cancel my appointment, without authorization from me or my husband.

When the day came to have the install, it was discovered that the entirely wrong dishwasher was ordered, and the one we were given had no stainless steel plate on the front. The dishwasher is a complete eyesore and looks awful. We are currently in the process of listing our home, and now have to put all of that on hold as the kitchen can not be photographed or shown with the dishwasher looking the way it does.

The resolution from Coast appliance was to completely replace the dishwasher with the right one. This is now not only holding up us listing our home by a week, but is also causing me to take a minimum of 4 hours off work.

I have called the regional manager Gabby, multiple times and have yet to receive a call back. The only compensation that has been offer to us is $100! How they feel that is adequate compensation, when it doesn't even cover the cost of my missed work, not to mention the delay in selling our house, is beyond me.

Do not use this company to purchase your appliances. It is not worth it. The additional work you have to complete in the installation and general follow-up is not worth any amount you may save on the purchase price. Find a company who values their customers.

New appliances

In the spring of 2013 we purchased all new stainless steel kitchen appliances: a stove, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. When initially going into the store to look at the appliances the salesperson kept inflating the price and then saying he could give us a better deal. The day I went in to order them he would not give me individual prices, only the total package, stating that he wouldn't do that as I could go elsewhere to try and get a better deal. He even had the audacity to remove his paperwork when he was leaving his desk for a moment, citing that he didn't trust that I wouldn't copy it. I should have walked away at that point. When the fridge arrived the handle of the freezer was damaged. The delivery person pointed it out to me and wrote on my receipt that it was damaged prior to delivery. He advised that he had already called the problem in and a new handle should be delivered to us in a week. Two weeks later we had heard nothing. I called the store 3 times and left messages for the salesperson who sold us the appliances. I heard nothing back until the third time at which the sales person advised there had been nothing ordered and that there was nothing on the receipt regarding mention of the damaged. After much discussion he advised that the handle would be ordered. It never was. I ended up having to call the acting manager - time and time again I had to call. Eventually, and several frustrating calls later the handle was replaced (which took all of 5 minutes). I have never had an apology for the lack of service. I am still waiting for the itemized price I paid for part of my order, which was promised to me by the acting manager when I complained that the sales person refused to give me the breakdown of what I had purchased. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I will definitely not be buying appliances from this company in the future.

Installation of Sliding Doors for Tub

We visited their showroom in Langley and was slightly disappointed that there was no display of the sliding doors we were hoping to buy (there was some renovations going on there so it is understandable). A salesperson listened and explained what was available and cost. We decided to purchase sight unseen. Within a week, 2 installers showed up and quickly installed the doors without fuss or mess. We are very happy with the doors and the service

Purchased appliance package - fridge stove washer dryer etc

They are friendly and helpful, but more expensive than a lot of other stores. Because they are a wholesaler we thought they would be cheaper but they weren't. They have a contract with our builder so we trust them to do a good job.
