Moving services

I had City Move come and move my 2 bedroom apartment a few blocks down the street. I have used a handful of movers before and it has never taken more than 3 hours to complete the job and they took FIVE HOURS. It was blatantly obvious that the owner, Warren, was going slowly on purpose was when I caught him talking to his helper about how if you take your time organizing, etc., "You can net an extra $150" from a job. He was surprised to see me standing there and quickly changed the subject to asking me about where I wanted an item.

I will admit that they did take a lot of care with my items, except when the helper broke a lamp, otherwise everything was wrapped well, etc., but when it is confirmed that you are being gouged it is hard to hard to recommend a company.

MOVING: LOADING & PACKING UHAUL TRUCK

I cannot say enough good things about City Move. They were AMAZING!

I had a relatively small-but-complicated move (the partial contents of both a storage container & 2 BR apt had to go into a U-Haul, but some stuff went with the apt and had to be teased out from both storage container and apt contents), so Warren and I first exchanged a few emails about my move, and then had a phone conversation over the nittier-grittier details.

Warren was careful to walk me through each stage of the move ahead of time (asking if I had the right equipment for X, if he needed to bring supplies) and quick to offer completely reasonable and articulate reasons for the various questions, solutions, and policies he had. Throughout our exchanges, Warren was consistently respectful, courteous, and professional. I could not have asked for a more competent mover.

On moving day, he and Roger were delightfully gentle with all our belongings-- wrapping and padding things as they went, loading everything quickly but carefully, making efficient use of the space and wasting no time, efficiently strapping everything down in layers so as to be safe and stay put during our 22-hour drive, leaving my spouse and I positively slack-jawed with awe. They arrived on time, finished early, and communicated clearly with us at every stage of the game. (What they needed, what came next, etc.)

In my opinion, Warren went way above and beyond the call of duty when, after all his work was finished and he was well within his rights to leave, he warned us that U-Hauls get st0len all the time, so we needed to learn a trick for disabling the vehicle. Without any presumption or condescension, he demonstrated how to open the hood in order to locate and remove the ignition fuse, talking us through each step and orienting us to the truck itself, then carefully testing each thing he told us in order to make sure it worked the way he intended, and then he had us try it ourselves so that we would be practiced and confident in our attempts on the road. It was so heartening to see that someone cared about our stuff AND our dignity!

I have moved many times and used professional companies to do it, but I have never had a mover who was so helpful or nearly so impressive. Since this is my last move within Vancouver, I won't be able to use them again but I'm absolutely committed to recommending City Move to anyone who might be in the Lower Mainland and in need of some help.

Moved apartments

These are the most thoughtful & methodical movers I've ever dealt with. They try to figure out the best way to move your stuff as quickly and safely as possible... I'd recommend them to anyone.
