Chouinard Bros Roofing

The roofers were exceptionally friendly and very professional. They always had time to answer any questions. The cleanup was very efficient.They are highly recommendable and did recommend them to all our family and friends.

The tiles of our roof were replaced by Chouinard Bros. back in November of 2005. In less than five years, the newly installed tiles (the 25-year variety, not 15, not 20) on our roof were twice blown off. The first time was in December of 2008 and the latest in September of 2010. Chouinard Bros. refused to repair the damage for free. Stating the damage was in fact the "act of God" and therefore NOT covered by their so-called warranty.
In a meeting at their office, I had to face the following shenanigans:
1. Chouinard Bros. were ready to extract data from the Environment Canada website as proof to the wind condition that justifies their reasoning of "act of god" until I provided the Environment Canada printouts that contradicts their theory. Chouinard Bros. then dismiss the validity of such governmental data by questioning its accuracy.
2. Chouinard Bros. cannot come up with an actual wind velocity for their tiles to withstand. Not 120km/h, not 140km/h. They simply do not have a solid figure.
3. Chouinard Bros. cannot explain why none of my neighbours suffered ANY roof damage other then re-stating it is the "act of God."
4. Chouinard Bros.'s record of their work on my roof in 2005 was more than one month PRIOR to the actual installation. They have no explanation as to how they managed time travel. Maybe it is another "act of God."
5. The tiles Chouinard Bros. replaced were the original tiles from 1989, when this house was built. After 15 years, those tiles had, although deteriorated, managed to stay in place. The roof of my house had, during its pre Chouinard Bros. days, sailed through elements for one and half decade with flying colours rather than flying tiles.

My advice: when you need your roof redone, don't call Chouinard Bros.

Very disappointed. Shingles were to last for 25 years. Work was under warranty for 10 years. 2 months after the warranty expired the roof began to leak. We will be having our roof repaired and redone - but not with this company.

Chouinard Brothers replaced our roof in 2007 and we were very happy with the work that they did. The only problems we have had are after the fact. We had a shingle blow off in a wind storm and when the workers came back to fix it, they no longer carried the shingles that we chose. If we didn't have extras into our garage, I don't know what they would have replaced it with. Also, when I have called to get quotes on other projects, it has taken up to seven days to get any type of response from their scheduling/estimation department.

The job was done to expectations but they had to return a few months later for a replacement tile that blew off in a windstorm. It was a bit of an issue getting them to return and when the came to our house it was a good thing that we had spare tiles to use because they were unprepared.

I hired Chouinard Bros to do my roof. The service was great and the showroom made it very easy to choose the type of shingle and colour. I would recommend them for sure.

We had nothing but problems with Chouinard. When the roofers were here, we were having other renovations being done. Chouinard placed the garbage bin so close to the garage door that we could not open the door to get to the materials that the other renovators required. They refused to move the bin until my wife bagan to call their office. One of the workers called my wife a f_ _ k _ _ _ bi_ _h. He was apparently fired. Following the job, our roof leaked - it never had previously. Chouinard came out and claimed that it was not their fault. It subsequently cost us over $1600 to repair the roof and additional money to repair the interior (bathroom ceiling, walls and floor plus ceiling in the bathroom one floor below. Two of our neighbours also had Chouinard and both had problems.

Purchased windows on the whole second floor in November, by the summer we noticed a hazzy film on all the windows. Called the company and it was been 3 years and still now fixed.

They cleaned up after themselves. It rained three times, and they were still able to get the job done on time. They were well-organized and very friendly. the roof looks great!
