Chouinard Bros Roofing

We had a leak in our roof. Contacted a bunch of roofers. Most didn't even call us back. A couple made appointments with us and then didn't show up... A friend recommended Chouinard and we gave them a call. Amazing! The repair guys fixed not only the problem we knew we had, but another one they ran into, all at the estimated rate we'd been quoted over the phone. They were professional, friendly, funny and helpful. Highly recommended.

I had not used this company before, but they were reshingling a roof in our neighbourhood, and the feedback was good. Scott was the estimator, and provided avery competitive quote. Install was arranged to my schedule and work quality was good. Would definitely use the company again, and also provide a referral.

Lowest of the five quotes we received (in the Markham area), but the work was of good quality and the service provided was exactly as we agreed on. The people we dealt with from the company were polite and helpful. I would use this company again if the need arose.

We went to Loews where Erwin put us in touch with Scott, who did the estimating & provided the quote (and everything seems to be bang on cost-wise). Scott was very professional & patient and answered every question we had. Scott then had Chouinard Bros (Bill) do the actual work, and we have not ever seen such excellent craftmanship and attention to detail that Bill displayed. Seriously, we were very impressed by how much care Bill put into doing a phenomenal job - it looks like we have a brand new home! Kudos to Loews for coming through as promised, and a huge thanks to Bill of Chouinard (and Scott of Loews)for making us extremely happy...sw.

I would never use this company again. Poor workmanship, poor supervision. Rude! Left a lot of nails all over my yard. Did not install step flashing. When I had water pouring into my kitchen, they came and repaired, but did not check the other side. The next year, I had water pouring into my dining room. Same problem!
Rude and ignorant customer service.
25 year shingles were curling and extremely damaged after 9 years. When I asked about warranty, Michelle wanted to charge me $75.00 to send someone out to subit warranty claim. No guarantee that the warranty claim would be honoured. The next year, the customer service gal was very surpirsed that there was a charge and agreed to do it for free. I wasted a year which then cost me money.

Best roofing contractor out of 4 other who came to give me estimate. All work is done on time. Very professional, clean up, all services are well explained. Highly recommend to any homeowner.

Customer service and staff are friendly and we have experienced a very fast response to our service requests, there is no question. however, after reading the reviews it seems to be a common theme with 'wind blowing off shingles'. I suspect not much else can happen to shingles, they either wear out, leak or blow off. however, this is the second time they have come to repair shingles in the exact same spot from very mild wind-storms. this part of the country we don't really see winds greater than 50-60km/hr. It seems the two times that has occurred we've lost a few shingles. "Act of God" or not, you would wonder what happens at 120km/hr ? Probably lose the roof and a few people to go with it. I'm not disappointed with Chouinard as much as I am concerned about future repairs. Hence, 6/10 stars.
ps. some of the more generic 10/10 ratings seem suspiciously counterfeited... Hmm. Nevertheless, i think a 6.4 rating is on par for CBros.

In October 2000, Chouinard Bros replace my shingles, vents and fashing. Included is a 10 year guarantee good until Nov 2010. The guarantee states it at any time before Nov 2010 the job proves not to be waterproof because of any defect of workmanship or materials supplied they will make it waterproof without any costs to the purchaser. In Oct 2010, I called the as my roof was leaking and had damaged an interior bedroom ceiling. They came out and re-shingled around the vents and left. If this did not fix the problem they stated in may be the flashing around my fireplace chimney. Then next rainfall proved this did not fix the problem. They came out acouple more times but only gave me excuses for the leaking--like a north wind when it rained only seemed to effect my house. I had a private contractor also deal with Chouinard on my behalf and he, based on their findings elimanated all issues Chouinard claimed the leaks to be caused by. I had the fireplace chimney removed and even had the tiles caulked to the roof to stop the leaking. I had this done in the summer when my attice was insulated and the damaged interior wall was entirely replaced. This did not stop the leak. The new ceiling is now damaged as well as the newly insulated attic. Chouinard then tried to say it was from defective shingles provided from their manufacturer. They said I should go though warranty and told me I had to initiate the claim as the homeowner. I never call them. A week or two later I had a message from Chouinard stating they were coming out to take pictures for this warranty claim. They said thay I had voided the warranty by replacing shingles and caulking the roof---what choice did they give me??? The pictures were taken and they mailed me a bill for $150.00.
My contractor was at my residence with his assistant when it rained--they were able to determine the rain was coming from the vents--which they then notified Chouinard. They came out a took pictures but again stated they were not willing to do anything. In January, I called a roofing company I had never dealt with before and they come out --found the leak in the vents and resealed them. They also told me they would not bill me until I confirmed they had fixed my problem. So far there has been evidence the leak still exists. Why in the last year and 3 months since I first called Chouinard did they not find this??? This has not solved the problem completely as I am still experiencing water coming in.
I was referred from a friend this was a reputable company to do business with---they are the worst. Do not use them. They do not stand by their guarantee.

Very glad I chose Chouinard Brothers for my new roof. I was referred by a friend who had his done the year before. They did a great job and it came out exactly as I expected!
