Steve came within 4 hours of my phone call. He fixed my fridge without any parts, and explained things to me clearly so I understood the process.
He was also a delight to talk to; he's a down to earth and friendly person so unlike the many creepy repair people out there.
Highly recommended.

Steve was able to assess my fridge issue over the phone, and assure me that it wasn't terminal. He saved me a lot of money, and put my paranoia to rest. He will definitely be my first call whenever I have appliance issues in the future.

I feel compelled to add to the list of accolades being heaped upon Mr. Brannan. After leaving a voice mail describing the problem, getting a return call two hours later, and then having Steve arrive the next morning to fix the thing, I couldn't be happier. He knows his stuff, gives you the good and the bad news in a professoinal way and charges a reasonable fee. I'd recommend his services to anyone with an appliance.

As a member of HomeStars.com - Toronto, I turned to the service when looking for an appliance repair service for my 10 year old washing machine, which had given me reliable service until Dec 24th, 2009.
I found Steve Brannan and gave him a call. I described the problem, and the age and model of my washing machine. Over the phone ... so at no financial advantage to him ... he diagnosed the problem and told me that the cost of the repairs (a new timer) would be more than the washing machine was worth. It was better to buy a new one.

On the one hand, I completely believed him, but on the other hand, I couldn't imagine that a 10 year old washing machine was destined for landfill. I asked Steve to come over anyway and have a look. (Yes, I was willing to pay to get exactly the same advice that he had just given me for free !!)

Steve came by, checked things out, and repeated his diagnosis. I had since had the same verdict from another source. Still undaunted, (because I am that kind of stubborn), I called a parts supplier to find out the cost of a new timer. Yup, almost half the cost of a new washer. Plus, I would still have to pay to have the old timer removed and the new one installed. I'd have no warranty, and still have a 10 year old washer.

Finally, I decided to buy a new washer on the same day that I saw an article in the Globe & Mail which quoted Steve lamenting that appliances are not made to last like the used to be. Karma ??

The new washer arrived on the same day as Steve's modest bill. I have paid Steve's bill happily, and paid for the new washer grudgingly.

Clearly appliances are not made to last nowadays, but some repair people give you service and advice that restore your faith in humanity. My washing machine was one of the former, and Steve is one of the latter.

I called Steve when the ice maker and water dispenser on our fridge stopped working. Steve asked for the model number and then conducted some research and provided his honest recommendation to live without it for a variety of reasons. This was all done by phone and at no cost to me. He was very helpful and honest and I will be contacting him first for every appliance repair in the future.

We inherited a 25-year old washer and dryer with the purchase of our first home. Unfortunately one day, the washer wouldn't drain properly and this was the LAST thing we needed (we've both very busy professionals). One call to Brannan's was all it took... he came by the next morning - showed up exactly on time - and half an hour later had installed a new pump which works perfectly. Not to mention, he was very pleasant to deal with and extremely knowledgeable - even gave us his professional opinion of which washers/dryers are great vs. bad buys (unfortunately, the new products these days are not made to last that long). It will help us greatly when we finally decide take the step to replace our washer/dryer in the future. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who's looking for an appliance repair pro who gets things done quickly and with quality.

Moving into our first home last year, we liked that all of the existing appliances came with the house. They all seemed in good condition, and while not brand-new, they all appear to have been purchased within the last 5 years or so. We thought we had at least a couple of years before needing to think about a major appliance purchase.

Then, the stove computer stopped working.

It is a gas stove, with the standard digital readout and control panel. Looking to check the time, I glanced over at the display, only to realize it was blank. I tried turning on the stove, and selecting some of the other buttons, to no avail. It was dead.

I'd heard Steve Brannan on the CBC, and liked his practical, straight-forward advice. I gave him a call, leaving a description of the problem on his voicemail. Within a couple of hours, he called me back, asked a few additional questions about the stove, and then told me to try unplugging the panel for several hours, at least overnight, and then plug it back in. Apparently, this can reset the computer panel, and in this case, it worked. Pulling the plug before we left town for the weekend, when we got back home on the Sunday night and plugged it back in, it worked like new again. If it hadn't, replacing it would have cost at least $400, if not more.

Thanks to Steve for providing the right advice, and saving me an unnecessary visit and expense. I'd definitely use him again!

Called him and he returned call right away. He came by next morning with parts in hand. Fixed dryer promptly and right on estimate. Excellent service and absolutely wouldn't hesitate to use him again or to recommend. Excellent job!

I left a message at Brannan's and Steve returned my call almost immediately. He was able to come to the house the next morning. Extremely friendly and personable and knew what the problem was immediately. Fixed the dishwasher in no time. Wouldn't hesitate to call him again when our appliances are in need of repair.

Pretty much called me right back to ask a couple of questions and ensure the problem wasn't something minor. After providing him the make/model he was out to my home a few hours later and had it fixed in no time. Also took the time to ensure the repairs would have been worth my while, a very professional repairman and one I'd call again without any hesitation.
