Bedroom Set

I purchased the same bed that my daughter had bought at Arrow a few years ago. I also bought 2x end tables, a bench and a mattress. The mattress was gassing off terribly (unable to stay in room even), so after much time spent talking to Israel, he took it back with 1/2 money, 1/2 store credit. Now that the mattress was gone, I realized that the bedroom set reeked of volatile organic compounds. I've been airing it out since February and I still can't sleep in the room. I bought a mattress somewhere else and have been sleeping on it on the floor of another bedroom. Israel came out to smell it and said it had no smell and that I'm just one of those sensitive people. Strange that the mattress from TON furniture isn't causing me any problems. Strange that half my house was painted and I didn't smell anything after two days. Everyone who's been in my house can smell it WITH THE WINDOW OPEN - the set was made in Vietnam and it's just too toxic. I'm at my wit's end and I think that airing a set out and sleeping on the floor for almost three months is more than any customer should have to put up with. They won't give me a refund, a store credit or a set that won't make me sick. To say that I'm upset is an understatement.

Company Response

Hi Nancy, I'm sorry to hear of your experience with your bedroom set. From what I understand, our operations manager made a decision to take back your mattress which was fully inspected by our service department when it came back to our warehouse. There was no odour and the mattress was put on our floor to be used as a showroom model for one of our bedroom sets. After you registered your 2nd complaint regarding the headboard having an odour, our operations manager felt it necessary to go directly to your home to see if we could pinpoint anything after having shipped hundreds of these sets to our customers without any of the same issues. He is extremely qualified and meant no disrespect by mentioning any kind of sensitivities but again, could not smell any odour that you are calling 'toxic'. Rest assured that there are thousands of sets made in Vietnam and it is a very prominent place for well made furniture to be constructed today. Jason M. - Sales Manager
