Simon is very friendly over the phone, and my client in Vancouver is having him back a second time for another installation job! In both cases, he was able to come the very next morning. Thanks, Simon!

Mr. Suzuki has come to our house twice now - once to fix a stovetop element that died, and another time to fix our washing machine hose, which had dried out and cracked. He is friendly, affordable and can usually get to you within a day. I highly recommend his services.

A few months ago, our drain was clogged and it seemed like it might be a dreaded tree root. We called Water Works and they had George come by the very next day! He diagnosed the problem and found that a whole lot of debris had filled up the pipe leading up to our kitchen sink, and even pulled out a previous tenant's butter knife! He was in and out in a couple of hours, and solved the problem quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively. I wouldn't hesitate to call these folks again.

I booked City Star for a client and was promised two men and a truck for $83 an hour, showing up at 2:30 p.m. on the day of the move. When the day came, THREE men showed up half an hour early (which would've been great, except they were going to have to sit outside the drop-off location because they were going to get there too early to have access), then pressured my client into signing a contract stating she would pay for three men at $107 an hour. When I called "Sid" to ask why this had happened, he said he would get to the bottom of it and call me right back. I waited around for about half an hour, then forwarded my home calls to my cell because I had some running around to do. No call came. Two days went by, and when I called him back he told me that he DID call back within a few minutes - and that he remembered because it was in the evening. If he HAD called me back a few minutes later, it would have been around 3 p.m., and there was no message anyway, so I called bull. When I told him this, he said, "I'm not going to quibble over whether or not I called you. I know I did." He told me that the price worked out anyway, because three men work faster than two. I asked for a copy of the contract so that I could actually see this for myself, because my client is now out of the country, and he told me that she had a copy, and there was no need to send me another. I explained to him that I book moves for many clients across Canada, many right here in the GTA, and I would never be using his services again. The service was fine, but the dishonesty and unprofessionalism just isn't worth the trouble. ADDENDUM: It wasn't the service I had a problem with, it was the unprofessionalism. Shawn says below that it was $99 an hour, yet my client swears she signed a contract stating she would pay $107 an hour...and now that she's out of the country and City Star won't let me have/see a copy of the contract, I have no way to prove or disprove this. When I told Sid that she was charged $107 an hour, he told me that she couldn't do math very well. I found his reactions to my questions immature and unprofessional. THAT is why I will not use City Star again - there was absolutely nothing wrong with the service.

Company Response

Dear Jessie, We are really sorry that you believe if a company is trying to save time and money for a client is dishonesty but fine service? This would be the first time in past 13 years that any client has said about our company.
We always encourage our clients to write a review to express their feelings and service that they have been provided with, so future clients have a better Idea of who they could hire for the service they need and we always try to past our client's expectation with our service. You have mentioned that the service was fine but dishonest, fine service but dishonest just because as a professional moving company we believe 3 men can work a lot faster especially when the items have to be taken to the 3rd floor of a house. As per our contract goes its, it’s a standard contract that provides our client with the hourly rate which was $99/hr for 3 men, start and finish time which took the crew 3.5 hour for the total move without any waiting for the items to be unloaded as it was a house plus the one hour traveling charge with a total of $445 which the client paid the crew $450 which with a 2 men crew It would have been 4 to 4.5 hours to load and unload at $83/hr plus the one hour travelling charge with the total being $415 to $456.50, our rules and regulations, Customer's receipt of deliver, methods of payment and cargo coverage. I’ll be looking forward to talk to you and resolve your complaint and hopefully we are wrong.

Best Wishes/Kind Regards
Shawn
