A long, complicated rat-behind-the-walls issue patiently and diligently and expertly solved/fixed by a terrific team of guys from Skedaddle. IT really was a tough job for them and yet they handled it so willingly and professionally. Couldn't have been more attentive, responsive and helpful. Calls were answered, returned promptly, appointments made/kept without issue and every point of contact was friendly and knowledgeable. Couldn't possibly recommend them highly enough.

I have used Ed Campanella for a number of projects, big and small, and have recently hired him again to renovate a new art studio space. I can't recommend him highly enough and continue to absolutely respect and appreciate his honesty, talent and incredible cleverness when it comes to constructing solutions to unique problems. He sticks within budget and knows materials/options so well that he can provide cost-effective alternatives when necessary. His work is impeccable, leaving a clean and tidy work site at the end of each day. Arrives on time and works (with Paul who is equally amazing) steadily throughout the day. I'm never losing Ed's number! He's amazing!

I've had Skedaddle come out twice (previously for a squirrel problem) and have been thoroughly impressed with their staff and service. So when I discovered a rat in the house, I knew immediately who to call. Brandon came over within a few hours and caught it quickly and with confidence. He secured the point of entry - the basement drain grate. After a friendly chat and assessment of the premises for potential reoccurence (Thankfully none) he was on his way. I'd highly recommend Skedaddle and am so relieved to know I don't have a rat living with me. Thank you!

Hired Hanks based on a recommendation after being strung along by another company. They booked me in right away and an electrician named Steve was put on the job. He an his partner, Graham, were terrific and fun to have around. Very careful of my home, took off shoes/vacuumed etc. Great with my dog snooping around them and generally very pleasant to have working here. Had to come back and forth a bit while working on other projects too (they're busy so scheduling must be a bit of a challenge) but communication was great all round. They only thing is that they were significantly more expensive than other companies - I was a bit horrified by the bill. My fault, I should have got a better idea of cost before they started.

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Get multiple quotes before starting and expect electrical to be trickier (take longer) than perhaps one might expect.

I searched for the perfect countertop for over two months, comparing prices and materials and selection from every company I could find from Toronto to Hamilton and beyond. Granite Kings were the most helpful and Corina was endlessly patient with me. She sourced a gorgeous quartz for me, set up a meeting with the manufacturers head office (where they happened to have the same installed in their corporate kitchen showroom) and once the decision was made, the Granite Kings team measured. made, delivered and installed the whole countertop within 10 days. It's stunning. Everyone who has seen my kitchen is blown away by how absolutely gorgeous this countertop is and I too, can't quite believe it's mine! Would highly, highly recommend Granite Kings to anyone as meticulous about detail,quality and customer service as I am.

Ed Campanella was referred to me through the General contractor building my home addition. They often work together on projects and he was highly recommended as a skilled Tradesman. Looking now at the work he has done for me, I can say this is absolutely true. He responded to my calls quickly, booked work in a timely manner and followed though on his word. He was respectful of my home and property while on site, worked solidly while here and cleaned up thoroughly at the end of the day. He his son Sal came to lay the hardwood floor in my new kitchen/powder room and laundry room. Together they did an incredible job, carefully using every last inch of flooring I had bought without having to buy another whole(expensive)box. An update.... I've since had Ed back twice to install a new wood railing on my front porch (done perfectly - it looks gorgeous!)and an inside handrail running from my basement to the third floor. I'm fussy about the way things look and didn't want to use the ugly brackets available at the Big Box store so he cleverly devised a sturdy, attractive system that uses moldings, trim pieces and that blends in with the extisting wainscotting (and creating new wainscotting along the walls where it was non-existent). I couldn't be happier - I thoroughy enjoy having Ed here and am continually impressed by his range of skills. No doubt, i'll be finding other projects to have him back for. I would absolutely recommend Ed to anyone considering similar projects or other reno/repair jobs requring creative problem solving and skilled work.

There IS such thing as a great renovation story and an honest contractor! While considering numerous companies to take on this project, Andy Jack consistently came out on top with detailed and prompt communication and a very personable, helpful and knowledgeable manner. I knew very soon after meeting with him that his company was the only one i'd trust with my house and I can whole-heartedly say I have no regrets whatsoever. None. Andy spent hours with me ahead of time, mulling over options and understanding all the issues I was facing (old house, terrible work done by previous owners and an odd, restricted configuration making this anything but a straight-forward reno). Eventually we came up with a plan, a clear and detailed quote was approved (reworked fairly to fit my budget), a timeline was set and the work began., It was an incredibly well managed job from start to finish. All sorts of unexpected things came up (as with any project), but immediately addressed and fixed properly and promptly. I was given options and choices from start to finish and all changes were clearly accounted for on paper as we went. I was fairly particular about how things were done but never once felt like the work was beneath my expectations. As well, i'm an artist and kept coming up with creative ideas to incorporate and Andy worked with me to make the space as unique as my vision for it without hesitating once. No short-cuts were taken by anyone on the crew - Doug, Bryan, Ryan and all the subcontractors (Rajko's cabinets are perfection and my front porch wouldn't exist without Ed) were hard-working and friendly. On numerous occassions the work days started before 8am and went well after 6pm. They were respectful of my home and belongings, taking care to protect/secure the space and clean up each night. Also, Andy's references for people and companies to work with (even not related to this addition) have been most helpful. I would be happy to personally speak with anyone condsidering Jack Design and Construction. I'd even show the work in person as I am just so thankful this was the company I chose to work with - they were amazing from start to finish. Stellar workmanship and professionalism and honesty is the over-riding attitude from all. Feel free to contact me to receive pictrues and/or to answer any questions about working with Jack Design and construction.

I knew my parents had often used Johnny's shop over the years, so when I inherited all the family's antique furniture, I knew who to call. Over the course of 6 months, Johnny helped me decide which pieces to keep, how to re-purpose those I wasn't crazy about and how to best refinish and repair those I wanted to keep as-is. Seeing new life breathed back into the dated (but lovely) furniture I grew up with has been a wonderful process to witness. His shop also skillfully created 2 extra leaves to match and fit a harvest table I bought second hand - it is now an 8 foot stunner. With each vanful of furniture that arrived, my heart filled with appreciation and happiness. Johnny also went out of his way to deliver the final load to my new home in Hamilton without question. Johnny is knowledgeable, helpful, honest as can be and truly a wonderful business owner. He quite obviusly loves and appreciates good furniture. After all our chats and projects, I'd consider him a friend now. I'm almost sad that my house is now furnished and I can't see another piece that needs attention!

After both my parents passed away I was faced with the daunting task of dealing with the estate and selling/moving from the family home. I have heard horror stories about dishonest moving companies so was very worried I too would run into a bad situation. I read about the Fireman movers in a business profile and the positive reviews I found made me believe this was the company that would do the job right. And did they ever. The move was yesterday and despite the pouring rain, I can honestly say it was a terric day and almost, dare I say it, fun. Admitedly I was hyper-organised and had moved a lot of the smaller stuff to my new home over the weeks ahead but even still, Tom and his crew were friendly and helpful and respectful of my antique furniture and other posessions. It was quick and efficient and seemingly a breeze at both locations. We were done by 3:30 and not only was I presented with a little gift from them as an appreciation of my business, but the bill came in much less than quoted - I've NEVER heard of that with a moving company before! I have nothing but rave reviews for everyone at Fireman movers, from the owners and support staff to the crew and others behind the scenes, these are gret people who deserve business driven their way.

Company Response

Hi Susannah;
Thank you for your kind words and the great effort you put into your moving day. As I mentioned to you on the phone, when the crew came back to the shop they said what a great time they had working with you - and how organized you were!
Thanks again for taking the time to write your review - we greatly appreciate it.

Dennis couldn't have been more thorough and determined to fix my alarm system. He arrived with everything he needed to solve the problem and stayed well into the evening hours and refused to give up when the system proved old and tricky. He was friendly and explained everything he was doing as he went, while being repectful of my home and belongings as he investigated old wiring, sensors and trigger points. It was such a relief to have this ancient system up and running again (no one else had even been interested in trying to fix it, rather were trying to sell me on an entirely new system). For the amount of time and effort he put in the price of his service was more than fair too. In fact, I think I inisited on paying him more than he initially quoted because I felt he put in more time and effort than he was being fairly compensated for. I've recently bought a new house and the first call I made was to Denis to make sure he'll be available to install a great new system in it. He immediately said yes, despite my new house being a bit of a drive away. I'd highly recommend Lyden.
