Excellent service from Eugene who sounded very professional when I telephoned to ask questions about repairs to crown moulding. After viewing my project he wrote down the cost, including materials, labour and taxes. Within a few days he arrived with the necessary pieces of moulding. He did a meticulous job, explaining all the details, e.g. how he cut and joined the moulding, fixed corners, etc. He took great pains with caulking and painting. He did an immaculate job, including careful housekeeping clean-up duties. I am so happy I found Knight and Daye.

Handyman Disaster! This company hires "craftsmen" at mark-up prices. They sent GC to replace my kitchen countertop. The counter was too wide, stuck out 1" at front, was not level, the corner joint was all buckled and not glued, and the backsplash was not fitted properly against the wall. Tradesman left the job to buy sealant to fill in about 1/2" wide spaces. To avoid sanding and painting wall where previous counter had left marks, he bought plywood to raise up the counter. He asked me(age 70+) to sit on the counter to weigh it down while he put in screws underneath. He took a day and a half for the job, which included trips to Windsor Plywood to get "extras" like plywood, silicone and green painter tape etc. I had to pay him personal cheques for these extras, including the arborite,$424. When done, I paid estimated price of $800 by credit card so had to sign the invoice on a line which had some statement saying I was satisfied with the job. After he left I discovered he failed to tighten up the plumbing beneath the sink and water leaked all over my cabinet floor. I left messages at the company office but no response from GC. I asked the manager to inspect the job and had to argue with him to get a refund on my credit card. He said $800 was reasonable for the job. I argued that Arborite and other extras should be included in the $800. I hired a counter-top expert to redo the job. He took 2 hours at cost of about $607, including arborite, taxes, etc.

Company Response

We replaced Chris's countertop on October 12, 2006.

She later called and scheduled a visit for October 24th when we reviewed her concerns and offered to correct the work at no cost to her, according to our warranty. This offer was not acceptable to Chris, and we agreed to her request for a full refund. Her MasterCard was credited later that day. I'm glad to see that she has had this issue resolved.
