I signed a contract with Daniel, General Manager of LF Builders on April 25th, 2016 to have some new curbing and stonework put around our existing flower beds. The work was completed in early May 2016 and did look nice. However, in October we noticed that there was a 1" - 2" gap appearing in the stone work allowing the earth from the flower bed to fall through onto the pathway by our front door. I emailed LF Builders and attached 2 photographs showing the problem. After a week went by with no response, I resent the email asking if they could please give me the courtesy of a reply acknowledging that they had received it. On November 4th, I received an email from them stating that they had received my original email and that a work order had been sent to the installer. That is the one and only time that I have heard from them. On April 10th, 2017, I faxed and emailed a letter of complaint stating that I'd like the issue resolved within 3 weeks before my warranty expired. That time has now passed and no-one from the company has contacted me and certainly no workmen have show up to fix the problem.

We had new shingles put on our roof in mid-August of this year and we have had to have it repaired twice in the past 3 months due to extensive damage to the shingles and the leaf guard being torn up by raccoons. My husband and I find this very strange as in the 40 years we have lived in our home, we have never had any trouble or even seen a raccoon.I called Gates Wildlife Control to explain what was happening and to see if they could make any suggestions as to how we could stop this from happening again. They sent Chris, one of their Senior Wildlife Control Officers and he went on the roof to see the damage. The majority of the damage was around the edge of the roof on all 4 sides as the original builders had left a small gap of about 2" from the edge of the shingle to the gutter making it easy for the raccoons to put their hands in and lift the shingles, so Chris suggested that he could install a metal screening which would protect the edge of the roof as well as cover the gutter preventing this from happening again. He left me a quote and told me to think about it and call the company if we wanted to proceed and I called them on Saturday afternoon. Our roof was repaired on Saturday and Chris came on Tuesday morning to install the metal screen and did a very neat and tidy job as you can see in the picture above.Gates' called the day before to confirm the appointment and Chris arrived right on time. Great Job!. Thank you Chris.

Hi Carol W., thank you for the detailed account of your situation. It may seem strange but we do see your situation repeat itself from time to time. Older shingles are a lot stiffer and their rigidness helps protect the gap between the roof and the fascia board. When they are replaced with much more pliable new shingles and a raccoon happens to be searching for a den site, it can easily lift or rip the shingles to reveal the gap. Once the opening is exposed, they stick their nose into the space and chew on the free edge of the wood. Over time they can create an opening large enough for them to climb in. I would like to also thank you for complimenting Chris on the work he performed for you. Brad Gates, B.Sc. Owner / President - Awarded HomeStars Best Of 2015 & 2016

In early spring 2016, I contracted QEW to insulate the outside walls in 2 of our bedrooms as the rooms were always cool to walk into. A neighbor had originally recommended them to me as they had done some work for her. Once the framing was complete and the insulation added with vapor barrier then drywall, it was all painted nicely and new trim added around the windows and new baseboards, even new carpet in one of the rooms. The 2 main workers along with the Foreman Wes were very nice, showed up early every day and often stayed quite late to finish a particular task. I watch a lot of construction shows such as Holmes Makes it Right & Leave it to Bryan etc., so I was very aware of how it should be done properly and QEW did follow the right procedure. We were very happy with the finished product, so I asked Saverio the owner to quote me on an attached garage. My son was not happy with the original quote as it was just one paragraph on a pink form and it was an expensive job. On mentioning this to Saverio, he sent me a proper quote within a couple of days with every single thing outlined clearly. The only other issue that my son had was with the framing of the garage roof. He did not like the way it had been done even though it had passed the inspection, but that was also fixed to our satisfaction. The crew that worked on the garage were great. Very nice guys who were here by 7:00 a.m. every morning and worked hard into the evening, plus they cleaned up the site every night before they left. Wes was also the Foreman on this job. The finished product looks great and my husband and I are very pleased. Please see attached
